azmom- That sucks. I know that when I got out of my boot, my calf was super tight... but I'm carrying a lot of extra weight that you are not. I would also want someone to check and make sure you don't have any clots since you went from very active to not.
My budget is about to start looking much better- the doctor point blank asked my DM if she had enough life insurance to cover my expenses for several months and to protect me if the court tried to tap the life insurance to pay any debts my brother has since he is named on the policy after paying her expenses. She old her another trip to the ER like last week could mean a trip to the morgue. So no more fast food. I have also told DB he is barred from my apartment effective Monday after he almost broke the passenger side door on my car. He has some toiletry itms here- so I told him to come get his stuff.
Oh and my insurance has gone down with DM here

Rocky Mtn Saver: 9/30 NSD and 7/30 CSD (<$5). I got a CSD yesterday, mostly because I just didn't have time to pick up any of the things I needed to buy. Oh well, silver linings, and all that! Mizbear: How did your mom take that straight talk from the doctor?

So here is my new dinner dilemma for today: We are scheduled to be at he baseball park from 5p - 9p today. My DS has practice from 5-7p and my daughter needs to be at the same park at 6:45p for a 7:45p game! Which means we are all at the park for four hours! Any ideas on how to get dinner accomplished or at least keep the kids from starving. Many families bring pizza or take out to the park. I'm serious. The spread our a blanket and have dinner right there while watching practice or a game. Normally these are families like ours with multiple kids playing. I've avoided that so far but I am drawing a blank today.
Mizbear: I am pretty certain it's NOT a blood clot but thanks for your thoughts. My legs are feeling better every day just a little out of practice.
Red: Enjoy the special treatment. How far along are you?
Back to my housework....blah!

azmom, can you pack some stuff for everyone to make sandwiches at the park? It's quick and portable!

I second the sandwiches idea!! and I'm 9w1d today. I have an ultrasound on Friday I'm psyched for (and nervous for). I think I'll feel a lot better after seeing both hearts beating again.

hi ladies! just wrapped up a fantastic day here in NYC - in addition to the great conference and coaching I got to speak on the stage in front of 350 people. And it was shared online with 2,000 viewers Already I've had a lot of interest from people working with me! Excited!

So guess who got another NSD yesterday? ME! SO proud of myself. So yesterday I decided not to go to the kids practices or warm-up (the first time ever). I fed the kids tacos at 5:00p because DS practice was bumped to 5:30. I dropped him off and the girls and I went back home. I fed them a snack, yogurt parfait at 6:15 and went to pick up DS and Drop off DD at 6:30. I went back home and sent DS to shower (he was a sweaty, itchy mess) and made him a PB & J then we all went to watch DD game at 7:45. DH ended up working super late and showed up in the second inning. My daughter pitched again last night. She seems to have become the teams star pitcher. Last night she was a little off. She only had two strike-outs and did walk a girl. They other team lit her up at the plate-good thing her defense bailed her out. The positive is it is rare for girls to hit off the pitcher in minors and they were hitting off of her. It's rare because pitchers aren't that good yet. Once they get three balls, the coach comes in and gets three pitches and the girls normally hit off the coach. Not so with my DD. She also went 2 for 2 at the plate with solid hitting. She hasn't lost yet but this whole pitching thing still makes me nervous. All the kids received an after game snack. Which left them no room to say they were hungry. After we returned home and their bedtime routine was complete. DH asked, "So what's for dinner" That was the defining moment of the night. He was ready and willing to go pick something up BUT I had frozen Talapia and asparagus. The bonus was it only took 15 minutes to cook. It would have took longer for him to get to any place around here to get food! YEAH ME!
My daughter is home from school, puking every hour or so! Blah! This may explain why she was a little off yesterday.
I need to go to the grocery store and to the gym. both will have to wait until DH gets home from work!

Way to be prepared, azmom!! For me, it's often about being prepared for times like this, when it would be so much easier to just 'pick something up' or stop for food. I was finding myself getting vending machine snacks or fast food often, so I started stocking up on nutrition bars instead. I keep them in my purse, my desk, my car, etc. Now when I get hungry while at work or out running errands, I can just whip one out and avoid spending money on impulse food. I now keep 3 water bottles around as well, which I can just fill up with water instead of buying a soda from the machine. Healthier for me too!! I've also been putting leftovers in small, marked Tupperware containers just perfect for one serving (instead of one large container), for those times when I get home late and am tempted to just pick up dinner. It's fast food from my freezer! :-)

NSD 22/30 so far!
AZmom-- could you have designated "picnic" items on hand to create a picnic basket for nights like last night. Plan a picnic menu and keep the most of the supplies (like PB&J)in the pantry on hand for nights like last night. Grab a cooler and just add some water bottles and fresh fruit and you are ready to go at a moments notice.
I have been eating out of the pantry and freezer the past few weeks. I have only spent $35.17 on groceries this month. I did make my slow cooker Greek yogurt and it was wonderful and only about 25% of the cost! I also made some bread yesterday. Since the recipe makes three loaves I am freezing two loaves that I will thaw and let rise and bake them later. By my calculations I can make the 9 grain bread I would spend $3.99 for one loaf and get three loaves for about $1.97. I have never tried freezing unbaked bread before, but if Rhodes can sell loaves of unbaked bread I figured I had nothing to lose by trying. Besides homemade bread is sooo yummy.
I need to not spend as much as possible this month. This is the month I have to pay property taxes and some big insurance bills. I have the money set aside so it doesn't come out of my regular expenses but still writing writing checks that big makes me want to not spend anymore than i have to.
Next Saturday(4/28) is the citywide yard sales and I hope I don't find anything irresistible and mess up this string of NSDs.

MK- HUGS and prayers. Having just gone through the whole thing with my DGM in November I know how you must hurt.
azmom- I never understood why the coaches came in to pitch when the kids were in danger of getting hit off of or pitching balls (they used to do the same thing for the boys here)- they don't learn anything that way. When I coached LL for a short time- my girls had to pitch for themselves.
The estate auction is this weekend.
DM has written DB out of her life insurance policy after an incident this weekend. Long story short he said that he would make sure if something happened to our parents that he wold get the money from both insurance policies because I don't need or deserve any of it. My father can't change his because of some paperwork issues- but my DM can and did.

Rocky Mtn Saver: THANK YOU! We really need to exhibit more will power. Last night gives us hope. Thanks guys for the dinner suggestions. The other problem, sandwich stuff and the other suggestions are normally what I serve my kids for an after school snack. So if I did that for dinner they would be eating the same thing twice. After school snack has basically turned into a fourth meal but they come from school starving. I'll keep the suggestions and mind and let you know how they work out. Mizbear: It is a coach pitch division, hence the coach coming in to relieve them These girls are just learning the fundamentals. It helps move the game along. After six runs, regardless if they have 3 outs or not they switch. It gives both teams a chance to play. AS for the pitcher it has nothing to do with if she is danger of getting hit off of. They killed my DD last night with hits. If the pitcher gets 2 strikes on the girl she has to pitch to her getting either a strike out, walk or the girl hitting the ball. After three balls the coach comes in and gets however many strikes are left on the count and that's it (So if my DD has 3-0 count the coach gets three balls and only two if it is a 3-1 count) The batter either hits the balls the coach throws or she is out. However, there is a winner and a loser. We as parents pay $110 plus uniform cost, snacks, and other team expenses. If the rules were not set up that way and they played the way you suggest it is possible that our child would not get any playing time and would never learn the basics of the game. When they move up to Majors the coach will no longer come in. My son hits off of a machine in his LL coach pitch division but only gets 10 pitches to do something with. Next year in Majors one of the kids pitches the entire game ( no coach relief) bit there is a run rule in place. Mk: Saying Prayers Red: Exciting. Will keep you in my prayers for Fridays doctors visit.

update: 21/30 NSD, 21/30 NEO, $350 in savings. Another NSD and NEO but no money in savings but that is okay. I did not go anywhere today and I did not buy anything today. I have been working on my shawl most of today and then I did nothing else today. I hope I can get the next 5 days in without spending. I don't think I will get anything else in savings but I did get $350 in there this month. I need to start planning next month's budget because I have one expense to add to my list. I think I will see if I can get another day added to my schedule although they were cutting hours this last week. Maybe they will not cut hours next month. Vacations are coming up and I will tell the boss that I COULD be called in if someone called off sick.

1. Favorite drink (does not have to be alcoholic) of all time: Water what can I say I am boring! 2. Place you want to visit anywhere in the world. Ireland 3. Coke or Pepsi? Whatever is cheaper, although I really prefer good old water, always have. 4. What career you wanted as a kid. To be a rich CEO. Sad but true, now I have to figure out how to make it happen 5. Top splurge if you had no debt, bills were paid, savings in the bank and $1000 tax free Put money into the Disney vacation fund. Getting there, I hope to go in the next two years. Speaking of #5 one of my problems is DS#2 but I have come up with a solution, I will bring my sister, she probably will pay for her share and she will bring her daughter. She knows our family, if DS#2 needs to go back I can keep my niece and later at night her (my sister) and I can go out. Oh and she really KNOWS Disney....
My aunt is responding, not sure what will happen but thank you SO much for your prayers, this is harder then I want to admit....

Rocky Mtn Saver: 9/30 NSD and 8/30 CSD (<$5). Had a CSD yesterday, again because I just didn't have time to stop for anything I need. I did have to take the cat yesterday to the vet for a dental problem, but my mom (the cat is really hers) picked up this bill. Sadly, between the unexpected vet cost (cat will have a more serious appt next week which I'll cover) and some CPE credits I need to sign up for, I've already spent a small windfall I will be getting this month from work. Oh well, it's good to be able to pay with cash instead of putting it on credit! Still, I should be able to reach my NSD/CSD goal over the weekend. I think I'll keep those intact for next month's goals. They seemed to work out perfectly with my circumstances. MK: Glad to hear your aunt is doing a little better! It's hard, I know.

MK - hugs. sending healing juju your aunt's way.
mizbear - wow! your DB is something else...
Yesterday was NS. I went home a bit early yesterday with a raging headache. Fun side effect of being preggo - if you're prone to headaches, you're even more so when preggo. Joy. Still have a bit of a headache today but hoping it stays mild.
azmom - prayers appreciated. Trying to be realistic without being pessimistic. It's hard. But I think we'll be in the clear after this appointment, and definitely after the 12 weeks ultrasound. Almost there...

My mortgage currently says "PD IN FULL." Ah, the joy. Until the new one gets uploaded lol. However, I hadn't made our second April payment yet (we pay biweekly) so I'm not sure what to do about that. Did that get rolled into the new mortgage, or do I still owe them that payment? I tried emailing them but because our account is in limbo at the moment it wouldn't let me.

So yesterday was CSD which I am very happy with. I only bought needed groceries off of a list! we should be good until Sunday's big trip. I ended up dragging my butt to the gym last night after dinner and then going to the grocery store. I am proud of doing both and not just throwing in the towel because I had a hard day with DD being sick. She is home again. Still sick ;(
The bright side is she still wants/needs her mommy!

azmom- LL has changed a lot from when we were kids and even when I coached, we never had a coach pitch league. We had rules about guaranteed play for all of the leagues below Senior League (you were guaranteed 3 games a season I think in senior.) and Pony league when it existed (Pony league folded before DB and I were old enough to worry about it)

update; 23/30 NSD, 23/30 NEO, $350 in savings. I got the rest of my groceries and gas today and the only thing I have to do is laundry but, since I use cash that I took out at the beginning of the month, that will be a no spend. I still have some quarters from the last time I did laundry and maybe I won't have to use any cash I have on me. As of now, it looks like I might have 26 NO SPEND DAYS for the month. I hope everybody is feeling better and things are going better for everybody. The last of the grandkids' birthday, I hope it is the last grandkid, is today and he turns 1. The oldest granddaughter turned 22 last week. What a family.

Let's see - I guess first I will answer the questions startsmart posed: 1) Favorite Drink: Either a Fuzzy Navel or a Long Stemmed Rose 2) Place to visit: Scottish Highlands, Finland and Australia 3) Pepsi - Diet Pepsi to be exact 4) Career I wanted as a kid: I remember wanting to be a Princess, then a Stay At Home Mother. Even though later in high school and college I considered the law, midwife or veterinarian. But not until earlier this month did I finally face the fact that I will never have biological children of my own or be the stay at home Mom as I wanted. 5) Top splurge: Hard to say actually. Perhaps having several quilt tops professionally machine quilted. Or a week's worth of maid service to scrub the house top to bottom, including windows, so I don't have to. ********************************************* Financialpeace - Thanks for the thoughts. Things are not that great on the job search front. I wrote a new musing on the situation here: honeylioness.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=thoughts&thread=240&page=1azmom - Good luck on the rehabilitation. And your schedule the other day sounded just crazy!! mizbear - Sorry to hear that your mom is not well. SES - I am SOOOOO impressed with your grocery spending this month. That is an amazing number. MittenKitten - So sorry to hear about your aunt. I will keep your family in my thoughts. 3cats - Wonderful job on your savings accumulated this month. redwagon - YEAH on the doctor's exam. ************************************************ I will post my final numbers after I get home on Monday morning. And if you will post your numbers I have a table all coded and post them early next week. This weekend I am in Port Clinton, OH for a series of training sessions with the organization I host students through. Not sure I should not be scared - from the porch of our guest house I can see the steam plumes from the cooling towers of a nuclear reactor .... Actually, the trip thus far has been ... odd .... and with various mishaps. I will be adding some writings about it later. Monday I have a dental appointment to see if they can save one tooth that had a previous root canal - and they are talking about crowns for two other teeth. I knew they needed crowns, I just have not had the money to pay for them. Then on Tuesday I am seeing a surgeon in downtown Boston about what I hope will be a relatively simple procedure. She may be able to do it Tuesday in the office - but we will see.

Haven't been on here much because, like Honey, I don't have much to report on the job front. I have an interview for a temp job on the 8th. It would run thru the end of the year, possibly longer. Fingers crossed for me please! We could really use the money. I have never been unemployed this long in my adult life (other than when I had cancer - I am now 30) and I am starting to lose hope.
Is it wrong of me to wish bad karma on the people who laid me off? This is not how I had pictured the first year of my sons life going at all.

Rocky Mtn Saver: 10/30 NSD, 8/30 CSD (<$5). I got another NSD yesterday, as I hosted a small party that consumed my afternoon. It went well, everyone had a good time I think. Today should be a CSD, but I might even come out ahead because I have some unused party supplies to return!
Red: great to hear that everyone is healthy!
