Misspt: Thanks again for posting your Rite Aid scenario. I got the bath salts and the nail polish and made a nice profit, which I plan on using towards the Pepsi deal next week.
Saveinla: At Meijers I bought 4 Jello, 2 Stovetop stuffings, 1 package of strawberries, 2 ICBINB and 4 McCormick spices and paid $1.02 and saved $12.50 using coupons. Thanks again!
Wags: I transferred 2 prescriptions and got $50.00 in giftcards. I spent $7.00 of that on 2 Oscar Mayer bacons and received $1.00 RR. I then got 2 dozen eggs @ $.79 each minus $1.00 RR and $.55/2 egg IPQ and paid $.03 OOP.

Murpath My CVS does use a pill counter BUT my pill is an odd shape/weight so when I complained last Jan the head Rx PROIMISED to hand count it and mark it for such in the computer. Somehow, somewhere someone is NOT doing their job properly and I want to make sure it stops NOW!! IF this was the first time or a one off I would not be acting like this BUT it has happened 4 times over my 8 fills of this Rx. That is WAAAY too much to be mere coincidence. Seems to me like a pervasive issue as a means to increase this store's pharmacy profitability.

That makes sense since the pill is an odd shape. They probably get stuck or hit the counter twice. I'd still ask them to count them in front of you when you pick up the Rx. A pain, I know, but that should eliminate the problem. I also don't know how they could be making more of a profit because all drugs are inventoried and matched up against prescriptions. If they had an abundance of leftover pills, wouldn't they know something is wrong? Maybe not if they just keep replenishing the supply without doing a manual inventory.

Dancin: Great deal on the wine!
CVS: I went and spent some soon-to-be expired ECB's and came home with Scott paper towels, Dawn, 2 cans tuna and hydrogen peroxide. I want to make Missourimommy's stain remover. The pharmacist told me they will soon be having a prescription transfer deal so I might be able to get another giftcard.

I did a little hounding today...the first time in quite some time.
Target i wanted to take advantage of the $0.99 cars 2 diecast at target. DS was so excited to get some new cars. i decided to get him a few for his Easter basket and it was his BFF's b-day today so i picked up 2 for him. i went to a 3rd target (all were on my way to somewhere else) that was completely out but had rainchecks set out so i got 2 RC for 4. i also found some summer clearance items so picked up 2 shirts & a pair of shorts for DS marked down to $3.50 each from $5. i also picked up 2 each of the 34# fresh step cat litter. this is the ONLY litter my cat will use. it was on sale for $11.99. i had seen this on totally target but thought it was just the regular 25# box on for that "sale" price because they will do that often. what's crazy is that the regular price is $11.95 and the national add will say $11.99 as a sale price & people buy it for the higher sale price. anyway, off my soapbox on that one. so i picked up 2 of the huge boxes, used the $3/2 TQ from the inserts (don't remember which one because that's one of those q's i will always clip & have ready for a good sale), found $1/1 34# box IPs on Wal-mart's website so i used those with the TQ to make the total cost per box $9.49 for a cost of $0.28/#. That is THE stockup price. the last time i stocked fresh step i paid $6.99 for 25# box, which equals $0.28/# too. since i am down to only 1 cat now with what i already have stocked from a great sale 6 months ago and these 2 boxes i will be set for another 9-12 months.
CVS it has been forever since i've seen contact lens solution free so i picked up a bottle of complete on 1 card and got a raincheck for the other card. i had done the special k deal on tues. or wed. but did not read until after that the EBs would only print when buying 3 at a time. well i bought 4 at a time in 2 transactions. i noticed after reading about my mistake that my receipt showed it had not tracked the 2 extras i had bought. i had done that shopping at a cvs not as close & who are not coupon friendly or friendly in general so i didn't want to do a return/re-buy or anything that requires customer service at that store. but they had a TON of special k in all varieties & i needed to complete the deal to get the savings star rebate so i let it go & brought everything home. today i went into my fave CVS because they had 1 lonely beatup box of special k that i knew no one would buy and i bought it by itself. i did not get the EB and it showed i needed to buy 2 more boxes. my fave manager was working so i talked to him, showed him my 2 previous receipts showing how it didn't track. i offered to do a return & re-buy but he said no he would print it for me & gave me a $5 EB and said "happy Easter!" whoo hoo for extra EBs!! i love that manager. he is friendly & understands how the system works and helps me when i flub.
wal-mart did some price matching at wally world. food-a-rama (if anyone reads this & lives in houston or near a FAR, this is info for you) has pretty good sale prices for kraft cheeses. FAR has on ad 12 oz american slices for $1.69 (WM everyday low price $2.62), kraft shreds & bars 8 oz 2/$3 (WM everyday low price $2.82), and an in-ad q for $0.99 philly cream cheese bricks (WM everyday low price of $1.32). i was buying some other items i know are much cheaper at WM & decided i would go ahead & price match these other items & save a trip to FAR. i haven't seen that low price for kraft cheese items in a very long time so i decided to grab 4 bags of shreddedd, 2 packs of sliced, and a brick of philly. also grabbed a bag of tyson nuggets because they were on roll-back for half the price of kroger or safeway and i was low. i did NOT want to pay full price for those suckers.
overall, i've spent more today than probably the total cost of groceries of the last month or so, but i had absolutely no shredded cheese, was down to the last 3 chicken nuggets for DS, and wanted to stockup on litter at such a great price and get DS a few things that were a great deal. this is how it goes sometimes though. you have to take advantage of great sales when you can because they are so far & few between now.
Happy Easter everyone and happy hounding!!

this is EXACTLY the problem. I asked for a COMPLETE manual audit over the last 12-15 months and was told it is NOT CVS policy to ever do it. I do know the general store merchandise is done it at leat annually as both my local stores had it in the last 6-8 weeks. But NOT the pharmacy??? Does Not make sense to me. but then again, so much of common business practice is S.A.D. to me. Apparently there is either NO Target ad today or Safeway is no longer deal matching to Target. When I went online at 5:30 am ONLY Albertson’s matches were posted. And don’t even talk to me about J4U items/prices. The FIRST thing that came up w/sort by history was diapers. My ‘baby’ is 33 and her son has been trained for a year. I have NEVER bought diapers at Safeway. I would probably stop shopping at Safeway entirely BUT: I pass them at least 2x/week Albertson’s & Target are off my travel pattern and at $4.50/gal I do NOT drive extra They do have (sometimes) good clearance prices on meat and (rarely) produce I wish it was a controlled medication so I could stick the DEA on them. Bet the system would change REAL fast.

Happy Easter, all! I am cooking a 21 pound turkey today. I think I paid less than $9.00 for it at Fresh and Easy back in November. It has been frozen for all this time, and I defrosted it in the refrigerator this week. I am also going to make mashed potatoes from a 5 pound bag of potatoes from Sprouts. I think that the bag cost me $1.99. No, the deals aren't as great, but still a good value. We are probably going to feed a dozen people and have enough for a few leftover sandwiches next week. My cousin came to visit us from Hawaii last week, and brought about 16 frozen lau laus (Hi tenney knows what these are) and a few bags of poi. I just love lau lau, but they are not healthy. I am going to eat one today anyway, LOL. I am going to see what CVS has to offer by visiting Frugalsuz's blog. I have a few EB's that are going to expire tomorrow. I have to "refresh" them.

HAPPY EASTER ALL!!! For dinner we are having a 8lb half a half a ham that I got for $1.78 along with mashed potatoes that were $1.99 for 5lbs and garlic carotts that were $2.50 for 2 lbs and broccoli that cost $0.99 cents. For desert I made a cheese cake that I only had to pay for the eggs and the sugar so maybe 0.50 cents. Doesn't sound too bad for a dinner that costs under $8.00. I was going to post this over on YM and decided that this crowd might appreciate it more.

Happy Easter everyone!
You ladies are impressing me with your meals and they don't sound frugal at all. I'm having a brunch with a scrambled eggs casserole, hash browns deluxe, fruit and cheese plate, coffee cake, juice and coffee. Cost of the eggs was $.16 and the strawberries were free. Most of the rest was bought with coupons except for the coffee cake. DH and I went to Holmes County last week and I bought the cake from an Amish market.
Rite Aid: Early this morning I did a quick run and got 8 pks. of Pepsi products and 4 packs of Bic razors. I spent $2.52 OOP after using UPs and MQ's. Thanks again, Misspt, for the bath salts deal which gave me the extra UPs to use today.

HAPPY EASTER HOUND FRIENDS!! DH went for a morning walk to "heart attack hill" this morning. I'm serving spiral cut glazed ham, sweet potato souflee, Durkee green bean casserole, and a salad. Pre-dinner appetizers will be deviled eggs (seems kind of sacrilegious for Easter doesn't it), clam dip, and a crab salad spread for crackers. DSIL is bringing cheesecake for dessert. I was at both CVS and WAGs yesterday and the shelves were absolutely stuffed with candy. It's looking like a great opportunity for clearance to me. rubyslippers: My meal will look expensive, but the only thing that cost anything is the ham and my mom insisted on contributing that. In all, I probably spent less than $5 for the appetizers and side dishes to feed 8 people by stockpiling and buying on sale. ;D

Well darn! Happy Easter! Everyone's meals sound so great. I'm working today so chicken tacos are on the menu for tonight. My SO will turn on the crock pot at 4. I'll probably boil some eggs when I get home just to have some for the week. Because my rotten (but typical) teens have been on an anti-religion kick lately, I have forgone Easter for them. They are getting nothing. I'm waiting patiently for them to ask where their Easter baskets are. At which time I'll reply, "Easter baskets? This is a religious holiday, I didn't think you'd want to celebrate it." My SO got a subscription to Time Magazine for Easter. He'll enjoy that.

Easter brunch was great here. I had checked out a few restaurants, thinking that would be nice, but they were all offering dinner only, fixed price - $52 - $60 each So DD, her DF, DS, his GF, DH, a good friend and I had Ham (free from Shoprite for spending $300 BEFORE coupons and store specials) Asparagus (1.99 / lb) crepes (about 12, maybe 1.00 for all) quiche (splurged on the Gruyere - so total cost about 7.00) strawberries (2.99/2 lbs) artisan loaf (I made for .75) hot cross buns (I made with on sale dried cherries, mango, cranberries, 1.40) mushroom soup (I made using Harvey's Bristol creme and whole milk - 3.00) mango 'butter' and fig 'butter' from Trader Joes: 5.00 for both, and will last for a few more months before we use them up latkes (never made them before - everyone loved them, though. 2.25) pear and almond tart (had 3 overripe pears, and almonds left over from Christmas candy making - 2.50) I had bought the butter I used for 2.00/lb for LoL. I was going to make chocolate fondue for after Scrabble, but everyone was quite happy with what we had. So about $30 for all. We are water and coffee drinkers, so no big investment there, either. And we have leftovers of the finest kind. ;D

murphath: I ran into Safeway before family arrived for Easter dinner and got to use my $10/6 Beringer coupon that you sent. I also picked up (6) cartons of ice cream on special (today only) for $2.28 (1.5 qt).
I ran into CVS quickly to check out the candy stock. This was at 1:30 in the afternoon and they had a BOAT LOAD. I'm hoping they will take it down to 75% off quickly to unload it for summer stock items.

Yeah, thanks for that, misspt. I had UPs expiring yesterday and had planned to use them on the bic razors and a couple of other things, but it was nice to roll them ahead of time. I ended up going out of town yesterday and the stores were on weird hours for the holiday. My easter dinner was super frugal: I went to my aunt's house and ate other people's food ;D

Today at CVS:
Physicians Formula under eye concealer "Youthful Wear 3 in 1 concealer" $13.29 3 Smart Heart Daily journals @ $1.00 each = $3.00 Total: $16.29 Minus: $15.00 off of any PF skincare CRT (Maximum $12.00 off) I also used a $4.00 off MQ for PF -$12.00 CRT -$4.00 MQ PF = 29 cents plus $1.43 tax. OOP Deal #2:CVS Soluble Fiber (similar to Metamucil)Marked down 75% to $3.37. Minus a $2.00 off CRT on "Any CVS Fiber Product." I also used an EB for 99 cents. Balance is 38 cents plus 29 cents tax. OOP = 67 cents. Deal #3:3 cannisters of CVS Fiber (Metamucil) regularly $13.49 marked down by 75% to $3.37= $10.11 PF makeup $13.29 EB bar soap 64 cents Core Conditioning book ($13.00 regularly) "fire sale," company going out of business $1.00 Total:$25.04 Minus: $15.00 off of PF Skincare ($12.00 Max), $3.00 off of PF makeup, -$10.00 EB New total: 0.4 cents plus tax OOP. Yes, I had to give up my $10.00 EB, but now I have enough Fiber to last about a year. Usually these cannisters cost about $10.00 each at Wal-Mart.
I also have PF makeup. Maybe there is a "Try Me Free" deal to rebate. I will have to check on Frugalsuz's site.Deal #4:
CVS: PF under eye concealer $13.29 CVS Milk of Magnesia (Cherry flavor) $2.24 Total $15.53 Minus: $12.00 PF CRT, minus $3.00 PF MQ, Balance: 53 cents plus tax OOP.
My deals weren't bad today. The PF CRT's plus the $3.00 coupons were a plus. I had to give up the $10.00 EB, but I didn't mind for all of that stuff. The books are going to be "healthy gifts." As you can see, I am all about buying things that I can use and stockpile for FREE or close to it. I am waiting for the 75% off clearance, then using MQ's and CRT's to help out. EB's are "cash," so treasured, but I spend it carefully at times. At least the EB's aren't my cash. I am frugal still.

NAG: Does anyone watch Bones? Tonight's victim was an extreme couponer. For future reference ladies...do not crawl under 18-wheelers, even if hiding from crazy store managers
