Youre right in that the question is a set-up,of sorts,but only because the descriiiption'devil, or 'demon;, is a bit wide-ranging;ie ''he's a little devil',etc
I am also thinkng of two (unrelated) self- described Christians, who refused a simple acupuncture treatment,'because it would open their souls to the devil',and I couldnt see what they meant by this;neither could several other Christians who I asked about their odd remarks....
I encountered similar remarks 20 years ago, when asking about using the village church hall for yoga lessons;again, this attitude doesnt seem to be shared by most Christians.
Perhaps we have an innate need to be 'pursued by the Devil',and ffffor sure, the 'fight' between 'good and bad' is part of our psyche,exemplified by most fiction writings,films, plays,etc, so perhaps the Devil is im portant to the way we see stuff.
In sensible terms, an omnipotent,and all-pervasive God would leave no room for something which is not God(ie the Devil),and so ,although there are lots of things we can have both ways, God AND the Devil doesnt seem like one of them to this simple soull................
so ,H2H, a bit more detail on your ideas of demonic doings would be food for thought/discussion, if thats OK?

Afraid my history ,geography, ppppppolitics and economics is rather poor,and for the most part, in these conversations, I rely on the things that I feel from just being here, but Im sure that up until Constantine,about 300 AD, that Rome was rather down on ,not only Christians, but most other persuasions that it saw as undermining their cause.("look at that poor lion,dad- he hasnt got a Christian",said the little Roman boy at the games)

I spose maybe it igronant of me, but since all the available references on most things are hard to verify,ie, u just have to take the prrrrovenance for granted(like the scriptures), I dont give them too much importance, other than passing interest,and prefer to ad lib it all.............

Since there really are only two books that reference JC historically, and they both say he was of divine birth, and they are of “opposing” religions.. It’s safe to say there is a reason that he knew why god was working through him…

It’s not necessarily that religion should be ignored it’s the MY religion is better than yours. Churches, Temples and Mosques do, do good in the world. Lot of donation is through these organisations. Lots of people LOVE the connection and just reading the stories and stories based on life....

All of the three major religions of the world worship the same God, and it’s the same one that the Masons talk about when they started the USA under God with liberty for all and a freedom from religion. (Without the Paganism).

I think Islam mentions JC, but JC hadnt read the Koran or the NT, so that cant be the reason..............would it be safe to say that God is working thorough all of us,even you an me, not to mention myra hindley and peter sutcliffe?...............what do you think?

Concerning devils and demons. I believe Satan exists. The first read of his coming on the scene is in the Bible in The Garden.. Trust the word of God, not me.. He existed before the Garden. He was flung to earth from the heavens.. Wherever deception is found and chaos and every evil work, we believe (Christians) it is either a direct work of demonic forces which come from the 'evil' one.. Or.. Folks who need teaching of what's right, what's wrong and according to ones upbringing, what is not acceptable.. What I mean by that is, each culture has developed their own systems of operating within their race.. (If that makes sense in how I am trying to make sense.) In other words, what may be right in your culture may be so far fetched from the way my culture see things.. Not necessarily making your far fetch or my far fetch cultural practices evil.. Just different.

Differences are claimed demonic and deemed devilish (resulting behavior) when they actually aren't, within the same culture too.. As silly as this may sound, in some circles it is deemed evil for a woman to wear any top garment, sleeveless.. Just an example about difference in culture within a culture. The same principle can be applied and misapplied when it comes to what is actual demonic activity and what just needs plain ole' discipline..

I, personally don't make my living life looking for devils and demons under every rock, but do believe both exists because the word of God reads so and much of what is current news all over the world has its foundation in both.. I believe, according to the word of God, anti-Christ's are behind the chaotic and major deception to mislead..

Misleads can come ever so sweetly, but can be as demonic as hell.. Much of what is evil is masked in beautiful allurement. Like the evil one who offered the beautiful piece of fruit in The Garden and the only other person in the world who could stop her, didn't..

The bottom-line, Egg, which may bring our back and forth posting to a halt.. Because truth will bring division. That is not my desire. I mean that, but here's God's bottom-line and what the believer believes.. Or should. Anyone or thing misleading or turning another away from the true and the living God and to another (god), no matter how sweet the presentation, is considered demonic based with evil intentions to deceive, thus denying/disregarding God.. The very core of this demonic and evil intent is to completely turn the heart away from God into believing in either themselves or any other god as their sustenance.. It is the greatest evil aside from every other evil seen in the earth..

We look at poverty and the starved and say God did this.. Poverty is evil, but it is humans creating these evils and humans are in need of resisting greed, corruption, etc.. Oh, there's so much evil in the earth, but most can be resolved if humans would treat mankind in a brotherly manner.. Sounds too simple, I know. Not getting sidetracked.. But just to make slight mention.. Greed, lust and pride can all be forgiven by God and according to the word of God, while man was yet the sinner, forgave man of every sin (including the 3 above).. But there is one sinner/sin He cannot forgive.. The one that denies/disregard him and the work of the Holy Spirit and teach others the same..

That is a no no.. And is the one evil rooted in the demonic realm, Egg.. One every man who disregard God in his lifetime will give account for, one day..

I have never studied yoga's origin and I'm assuming was thought of as an evil from your mentions.. I would say this to that. If the act of yoga turns the yogi/yoger/yo-gee? -turning their faith towards bodily movements and their source to sustain their spiritual well-being and not God, then I would have to deem the act ungodly.. But, I stretch all the time and consider it bodily exercise which profit the believer little as far as his spiritual well-being is concerned.. Same for acupuncture.. I have never studied it's origin.. There's a very thin line in at times how some believers view approaches to healing the sick medicinally and trusting God.. The believer who fully trusts God places the doctor in the hands of God through prayer.. Sorta like praying over much of our chemically grown and toxic filled foods we so enjoy.. We pray God's protection over our bodies and food.

Another bottom line, Egg.. The believer's trust is (or should be) in God as we allow him to gracefully navigate us through life using the resources in the earth for natural purposes that never serve as substitute or in place of him..

Gosh, H2H..........theres a lot of things in your post to deal with, or I could 'precis' it , and address the main bits......................Ive not been under the illusion that this is a subject that can be boxed, tied with a bow, and thereby bringing our back and forth posting to a halt;if only one of us(me?) is still not satisfied on the matter, then the matter is not 'done with'. In fact, this particular matter allows mor epleasure in the discussing ,than in any hope of reaching a 'finish point',and to take a leaf out of YOUR book, its unendingness may be Gods gift to anyone who wants to play with the subject.

Now then.............(he says, patronisingly..)..........devils,THE devil,demons,and the like............................Perhaps we like this 'good and bad' thing, as its simple and requires only a fixity of thought to subscribe to it.Once we diverge from the (almost childish) simplicity of good and evil, and see, at least,shades of grey,and at best a universe that doesnt need our comments to do what it does(ie no good; no evil).
Of course, that would negate such things as revenge, and the delight that a 'true believer ' may have in forgoing such a notion and experimenting with wallowing in 'forgiveness', so dumping good and evil may not be so satisfying for some.....
Anyway, I digress.....................and im sure that this has been mentioned before, but an omnipresent,omnipotent God, would leave no room for 'the Devil',unless by design, and in that case, he would be just another divine creation.IF, however, the Devil exists independently of God, then God wont be omnipotent and omnipresent ,etc etc.................................

It is an easy thing, of course to interpret something as being 'inspired by the devil', but thats just subjective thought,and worth little........ who has seen this thing with cloven hooves,a forked tail and breathing fire,and coloured bright red for real(though there was a woman in the pub last night who'd come a close second!)

Well i don't know about Eggy, but i know all about women, my mother was one. I have been married to the same woman for nearly 60 years and have a daughter, two granddaughters and two daughter-in -laws. Women were put on this Earth to torment man. I suffer from no illusions that you can roar, nag, moan, and all the other things women do to wear apoor man down. Fortunately, i have weathered the storm, and retained my faculties, at the loss of a bit of hearing. Actually, deafness is a good thing when there is a woman around.

Didn't ya know? We love our men to smithereens! I am cooking for one right now as I type. My nephew truly loves all my efforts for preparing he and his wonderful wife a nice meal.. He told me so himself.

We women, I believe I may speak for at least one on the planet, instead of eating the forbidden fruit, we thought we'd rather be fruitful in other ways.. For one fruitful instance..

When you think nag & moan, we think, inform to reform..
