Duh! I forgot to answer the question from FreeSalsa. My middle name is CRS! I work (and used to live) right by Diamond Head on Oahu - very close to Kahala Mall. Home prices were just way too expensive in town, but we were lucky to find a great deal (you can hound anything!) on a fixer-upper in Aiea, that looks out over Pearl Harbor, very close to the Arizona Memorial & Pearlridge Shopping Center & Aloha Stadium (home of the Pro-Bowl). Does Erica I- -CVS do a target version? There is now a Target within a reasonable distance, so I need to learn about double-dipping with them. Any good websites for Target? Thanks!

I know lots of people like TotallyTarget. I haven't really used them because my Targets are not Super and I don't get there much, but I think they have a lot of information

Thank you pubbler for the blog recommendations - I am in the southeastern part of the state. I'm having struggles with the egg coupon on facebook - it keeps claiming I do not have Java installed, even though I know I do (and reinstalled it just to make sure). I am using Chrome, though, so that might be part of it. Anyone else having a similar problem? I got a new prescription (sort of yay) and am realizing I really need to go buy something silly at Meijer or CVS to get the $25 off catalina for prescriptions. I won't need it for 3 weeks so I've got lots of time; I feel silly for not saving at least one out of all the ones I've gotten in the past, though. Just because I'm so happy that you came over here and joined us!!! I'll keep my eyes open for one of the CVS cats or something else for switching a prescription. Those are wonderful Q's if you have an RX to change to them.

If you live in Hawaii I am sooooo jealous!!! I use Livingrichwithcoupons. She does do Target. I don't think it is her main store so it normally looks like she mainly just does the really good deals and not every one. It does do a decent job of explaining the deals though. HTH

I had the same problem, I'm using Mozilla, and I just closed that tab/window and clicked on Get Coupon button again, and it printed that time, I was actually able to print 2 coupons. Also, if you have Internet Explorer on your pc or Safari, then I would try using those to print..sometimes certain scripts don't run properly on third party browsers...hope that helps!

I agree. Chrome /FF sometime do not work well with Java & coupons. IE is my standby browser if all else fails and Java works on it. I also have to keep my Java version updated for work.

Suzi Does your Dr mean giving up ALL meat or just red meat like pork, beef & lamb? DD1 is a lacto-ovo veg & I do have quite a few recipes that are lacto-ovo and vegan if you would like some. Also, most ‘meat’ recipes can substitute chicken quite well. Marvholly, Yes. He would love me to give all meat up at this point. I am not quite ready to, but I am going to give it a try. I have decided to eat meat only once or twice a week for now, no red meat, only fish or chicken.

Hi Murpath! Yes, I only read once in awhile....but I know a good deal when I see one, LOL. I just have stayed put at CVS. I just haven't been as aggressive as I used to be.
I am very limited because of the dietary restrictions that the doctor put me on....no sugars, less salts, less fat. He also asked me if I would give up meat. Wow. I guess I am going to have to try, LOL. |
SuziQ:Well, I'm sure you are now reaping the rewards of all your years of hounding deals and being able to relax a bit. Good luck with that diet. I'm not eating much red meat these days either but don't really miss it. Spices make all the difference--although I must admit to eating a cheeseburger with DH on Valentines Day. Once a year is okay I guess. Are you able to eat fruit? That should help to satisfy your "sweet" requirements. If you're battling high cholesterol, a square of good, quality dark, dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you. And all that exercising you've been doing and your weight loss will really help. My HDL is so high that it compensates for the LDL. I'm blaming the LDL on menopause-never had any problem before that event! Thank you murpath. I do miss hounding, but unfortunately, daily exercise is my primary goal. I try to check in every now and then, but it just isn't enough. Sorry, hounds. I follow the 80%/20% "Rule:" I eat healthy 80% of the time, and the remainder 20% of the time, I "relax" the "rules" a bit. I exercise for about an hour and a half, 5 days a week. Most of the medical community seem to warn us (people with potential heart problems (High BP and cholesterol) about the perils of eating too much red meat. Ditto for my cancer hospital. Dang! Can't even eat anymore...... I also want to say that eating more fruits and vegetables has not only aided me in my weight loss, but brought down my HBP and blood sugar levels. I am not diabetic, but I don't want to be, so I am trying to be more careful. Eating a little more fruits and vegetables has helped decreased my food bill. Why? Meats are somewhat expensive and I have found vegetables and fruits to be cheaper in general. I am glad that not too many of you have had to make the decisions food-wise that I have. I wish you good karma and good health, regardless of what you choose to eat. When I was younger, I just did not realize that the so many foods has so much sodium, fat, and carbs in them. This type of eating, plus my family history, has unfortunately "caught up" with me. My younger sister has also had some problems. She has just been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the colon; in a location that is very near to the rectum. She is only 52. The expert doctors at our cancer hospital admit that this may have been a "family" trait, but we are not sure where it came from. I have also had some pre-cancerous cells in my uterus, plus a borderline tumor found in one of my ovaries. I was largely overweight. Who knows where this came from, but they also site some correlations between meat/fat and cancer with not enough fiber. This is all of interest for me, given the health challenges that we have had.

Suzi remember beans, lentils and tofu are also good protein sources and can be cooked in many different ways.
I have pretty much substituted 93-97% lean ground turkey for ALL ground beef. Trick here is to use double the seasoning (except salt & soy sauce) you would w/beef.

Thanks twinmama. For J4U people, there is a 1$ eQ that if saved, comes off with the 1.50 MQ. I was able to get 2- 75 sqft packs for 2.98 which is the lowest price here .

POM wonderful - If you have rainchecks for the POM, there are 1$ off blinkies on any size of POM juice (right in front of the 16 oz juices) which makes it free. ;D

Hound alert: If anyone has extra Jello $.50/2 Q's from last week's insert, I'd really appreciate them. I can use them next week at Meijer's and get free strawberries when I buy the Jello. TIA.
Do all of you do traditional Easter meals or is there something unconventional you will be making? I always have a traditional brunch after church, but this year I'm thinking of doing a non-traditional meal later on in the day.

SuziQ
Thank you for sharing. I appreciate hearing what you shared. I have generally eaten fairly healthy over the years, but there's certain areas that I feel could use improvement.
Your comment about fruits & vegetables is really good. The American diet is very high in fats and white starches, and it's a good reminder to focus on eating what we really should it. So, thank you!
MarvHolly Funny that you mentioned about Ground Turkey. I used to do a mix of Ground Turkey and Ground Beef in my chili. Then I switched to all Ground Turkey. I didn't know if my husband would like it, since he's a beef eater. But he loves it! And personally, I think it tastes fantastic.
