SuziQ: Glad to see you're still reading! Hi Murpath! Yes, I only read once in awhile....but I know a good deal when I see one, LOL. I just have stayed put at CVS. I just haven't been as aggressive as I used to be. I am very limited because of the dietary restrictions that the doctor put me on....no sugars, less salts, less fat. He also asked me if I would give up meat. Wow. I guess I am going to have to try, LOL. It is nce to see that all of you are still here and doing deals....

Yep-from all your reports on gas prices seems we are the highest in the nation thanks to my state, county and city taxes.
The independent market on one of my primary travel routes (near library) has chicken leg quarters on sale for 0.49/lb. I have not seen them this low in over a year. This is a meat stock up, something I have NOT been able to afford in a while.
Safeway has their Open Nature 32 oz yogurt on sale for 1.99. I still have a couple $1 coupons good thru 3/31 from WAAAY back when they started this private label group which makes it cheaper than Aldi for me.
Suzi Does your Dr mean giving up ALL meat or just red meat like pork, beef & lamb?
DD1 is a lacto-ovo veg & I do have quite a few recipes that are lacto-ovo and vegan if you would like some. Also, most ‘meat’ recipes can substitute chicken quite well.

SuziQ:Well, I'm sure you are now reaping the rewards of all your years of hounding deals and being able to relax a bit. Good luck with that diet. I'm not eating much red meat these days either but don't really miss it. Spices make all the difference--although I must admit to eating a cheeseburger with DH on Valentines Day. Once a year is okay I guess. Are you able to eat fruit? That should help to satisfy your "sweet" requirements. If you're battling high cholesterol, a square of good, quality dark, dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you. And all that exercising you've been doing and your weight loss will really help. My HDL is so high that it compensates for the LDL. I'm blaming the LDL on menopause-never had any problem before that event! Hitenney: Welcome back! So sorry to hear about your mom--that's always so difficult. Are you still in the same area in Hawaii--by Lihue (sp?) hospital? My DD2 finished her year there and came home for med school--she's just now completing her last clinical rotation of her third year. Time flies....so it's been that long since I visited and hiked all over your lovely island. Love Oahu.

Suzi, Good luck with your health. I am also ovo-lacto vegetarian and have never eaten meat - so don't know what I am missing.

Re: Ralph's $0.88 eggs... i don't remember who posted about the eggs but wanted to add this - check the details of your ad. kroger (same corp chain as Ralph's) in SE TX also has the eggs at $0.88 BUT only when you purchase an additional $10 of stuff. This is a fantastic price for a dozen large eggs, but not if i have to FIND $10 worth of other stuff to buy at the same time. plus the ad for the week doesn't look like i'd be spending $10 cuz it's C-R-A-P-P-Y. This of course is where regional differences come into the grocery challenge. if your eggs are at that price without the additional $10 purchase then you have a great sale to chase. if you have to spend $10 to get that price, it may not be worth it.

I will have to check that. If so, than I agree there's not much to buy for getting to the 10$ this week. But the BE frozen veggies looks like a great deal at 1$ per bag.

Help!Does anybody have a good recommendation for a VERY GOOD flat iron? Mine is a Conair POS (piece of ) ..It pulls my hair and I have to run it through my hair about 4 times to get it straight! My hair is not kinky, dry, or curly. It has a little wave in it, but not too much and I am just sick of this stupid thing. I have been looking at Chi's and besides their expensive price, there are just too many to single one out and too many opinions on the stupid things. So, if any of you ladies have some great advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

saveinla - Doesn't Ralphs stop doubling coupons on 4/1? If so, that would give you through Saturday to use coupons with this weeks ads. Do you know if they still double until 3/31? All the ads that they had on the radio made me want think that it was going to stop on 3/28, but I can certainly check it out. Thanks I looked at this page which is my local ad (scroll down near the bottom): ralphs.mywebgrocer.com/Circular/RALPHS-077/000772766/Weekly/2and it says that they will only accept coupons at face value starting April 1 so unless it varies according to area, you should be ok through Saturday. They closed my local Ralphs last month so now I have to go way out of my way to go to Ralphs but I'm planning to make a trip tomorrow to take advantage of double coupons with this week's sales.

So, if any of you ladies have some great advice, I would greatly appreciate it! We have two good flat irons at my house. One is a Chi and one is a Solia. Both purchased at folica.com. The Chi comes with a 1 year warranty and the Solia, a 2 year warranty. If you buy from Folica.com, all you do is send it back with a check for $9.95 and they send you a brand new one. I've had to send them back a couple times over the last 5 years or so and have always been very happy with their service. They also have free shipping on orders over $50, and various other specials that I get emails about. You will not be disappointed. Just be sure to use heat protectant. When you get a good quality, high temp iron, you will love the results, but be careful of the damage.

I got mine from there and have been happy with it. I only straighten my hair once in awhile, but I think it works great. I think it sells for about $40 but sometimes goes on sale. It was cheap for me cuz they were doing a 40% off sale when you got a cut.

Does anyone else have the $1/3 Nissin from the 3/18 SS? I have a couple of rain checks and will take any that anyone is not going to use. Sorry, Kind of late to the party. I do have 1 of these, I'm happy to send it to you if you're still looking. Anything else I can add to fatten up the envelope? I only got 1 SS that week, but for following week I got 4 or 5 if there's something in there you want.

I can use it any time cuz it doesn't expire until 6/30 and I have a rain check good for 90 days, so you can start an envie and wait to add it to my next HOUND ALERT or you can just go ahead and send it now if you don't like things "hanging out".

Ralphs (Kroger) has eggs for 88 cents this week. With the IP for 55c/2 (doubled for two more days only!) that makes 38 cents/dozen! $1.52 for 4 dozen. I think I have that right! Woo hoo! I usually get 1 for $1.50 at Sprouts.
ETA: Looks like this has already been well discussed! My ad says they stop doubling 4/1. I'd better make my list and get there by tomorrow. It's really quite sad.

In my free fruit box yesterday I got about 5 bags of baking potatoes. They have started to sprout eyes to I'll need to cut them up a bit and peel them. I plan to cut some of them up in small pieces and bake them, make some mashed potatoes. I'm looking to freeze some of them but my freezer is pretty full right now. Any recipe ideas for so many potatoes??? freesalsa: Potato soup, twice baked potatoes, au gratin potatoes, hash brown casserole, french fries, potato salad, potato chips Oooh, all very good ideas. We got a ton of apples too so we will be doing a lot of peeling, baking, juicing, drying, etc. Potato chips sound really good! Thanks.

Hi Everyone! I haven't been buying anything lately. Two weekends ago we went to Arizona (Phoenix) to watch a few Spring training baseball games. Steve and I had a great time. The only bad part was the traffic from the road repair on the way back to California. It added TWO hours to our trip. I went to CVS Sunday and bought the free Snickers bars and Jelly beans (on all 4 cards). I also bought some Essence of Beauty hand scrub mitts for the shower. They were marked down by 75% to $1.07 each. I had 6 coupons, so I would buy 2 of them for a total of $2.15, then I would almost clear the balance with a $2.00 Essence of Beauty coupon from the Reinventing Beauty Book. Another item was the EOB bar soaps. I found a few of these and I would buy them in groups of 3. The total for the 3 bars would be $1.98, so I would apply a $2.00 Reinventing Beauty coupon and have them price modify it down to the $1.98. The total would be FREE. YAY!!! The last thing is that all of the Health Books located in the Pharmacy section are marked down to $1.00 in my area (So. California). $20.00 or $15.00 books marked down! Diabetes, Heart Disease, Recipes, Weight Loss, Beauty, Exercise, Medicine, Sleep, Pregnancy, Child Care, Chicken Soup for the Soul Series, etc. are drastically marked down. Make sure to scan them first to make sure. I paid for several of these with EB's. I am saving them to give away as Christmas gifts. Hey Suzi! Good to see you. I also went to spring training games and was thinking of you as we zipped by you on the freeway. I always wave, but I'm not sure if you saw me this time. LOL.

Thank you pubbler for the blog recommendations - I am in the southeastern part of the state.
I'm having struggles with the egg coupon on facebook - it keeps claiming I do not have Java installed, even though I know I do (and reinstalled it just to make sure). I am using Chrome, though, so that might be part of it. Anyone else having a similar problem?
I got a new prescription (sort of yay) and am realizing I really need to go buy something silly at Meijer or CVS to get the $25 off catalina for prescriptions. I won't need it for 3 weeks so I've got lots of time; I feel silly for not saving at least one out of all the ones I've gotten in the past, though.

oreo, The Q doubled today and there was no limit on having to buy 10$ to get the eggs. I went last night also and got the eggs and some other items and all the coupons still doubled. Our store had 1 pound of Land o Lakes butter on sale for $2.49 which isn't a bad price. I had a coupon so I used it. Also, some of the boxes had $.30 peelies on them so you could double 2 of those so $.60 off so only $1.89. Not a bad price these days it seems. Also, the lady who checked me out didn't bat an eye when she scanned the $1 off 2 boxes of cereal (didn't have a coupon for the 3rd box) in conjunction with the free gallon of milk so that was nice. The cereal (honey nut Cheerios) was only $1.99/box so a pretty good deal with 3 boxes of cereal plus a gallon of milk for $5. It is disappointing to see the double coupons come to an end there. On the plus side, I did notice items that I buy a lot were nearly all on sale for pretty good prices. Their 16oz packages of cheese were $2.99 (and I could get sharp or extra sharp cheddar unlike when they have a sale at VONS which always seems to exclude those). The butter was on sale. The bread was $.99/loaf for the Van de Kamp one (which is much larger than their generic loaf that is always $.99)

Hi Leanna! Good to see Holly & Murphath, and, of course, SuziQ! P8nt, thank you so much for the Starkist link - I knew there was lots out there I'd missed - I don't suppose there's a weekly chocolate bar anymore? I sure loved that promotion! Using JMo's principle of "If you don't ask, the answer's always No" I followed Dancin's advice (I think it was Dancin - I told you my CRS is bad...) and called CVS's 1-800 # and told them about the refusal to take the coupons. She said she would call the district manager, and pretty soon, I got a call from the store manager, apologizing, saying "it slipped by", which was not exactly true - he made an executive decision and got caught in it, but that's OK, whatever! I was my usual sweet self ( and agreed what a wonderful store he has - Kahala Mall, for any that might have visited. So I'll go back for my third trip this week to get my money back. Thanks for welcoming me back!
