On behalf of Dancinmama and all of the gals here, WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to the Grocery Challenge from me - Suzi Q! If you have never clipped a coupon, or even if you have been using coupons for years, we'd love to have you join us. We are a crazy, fun-loving, and very friendly group of gals just chatting with one another about how to save big money using coupons. We are willing to help anyone, at any level, in any way that we can. Don't think that you have to read through the pages and pages of posts to join in - most of it will be old, out-of-date information anyway. Just go to the last page of the thread and introduce yourself. Tell us what area of the country you're from and where you shop (grocery stores, national chain stores, Target, WalMart, etc.). We'd love to have you join us on a regular basis, so don't be shy - just jump right in, have some fun, and save a ton of money in the process!! NEWBIES/OLDIES: If you post a HOUND ALERT requesting coupons from others, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE also post which insert/where the coupon can be found (Example: 1/2 SS) so that we can find it easily without having to research it ourselves. ALSO, if you need the coupon for a specific deal, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try to remember to post the deal with your HOUND ALERT so that someone who may have the coupon(s) can decide whether they want/need to do the deal before sending out any of their coupons. THANKS!! POSTING ABOUT A DEAL / HOT COUPON: Some people get overwhelmed by the number of posts and only have time to skim the posts for the information that they need the most. If you are posting a deal, please post something that makes it stand out like "CVS DEAL ALERT" or if you are posting to tell us that there is a new, hot coupon available, please post something like "$3/1 WHOLLY GUACAMOLE IP ALERT". We want to make this thread as fun, friendly, and helpful as possible. These suggestions will save EVERYONE a lot of time when they are trying to "catch up" and read through past posts. Now let's have some fun!!

mawmaw: I just wanted to let you know that the IAMS coupons that you sent me did not go to waste. ;D I called my Target every morning this week and they did not get any more in, but they had it at the Target in the next town over and my DS's GF was going to drive right by it so I asked her if she would be so kind as to pick it up for me, so I didn't even have to use any gas getting it. Thank you so so much again.

Since I'm tracking our expenses for retirement planning purposes, I've also decided to track my coupon savings. Despite the fact that I didn't do near the deals that I did "back in the day", I still used over $180 worth of coupons in February. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU again to all of you who have shared your "unloved" coupons with me. I REALLY appreciate it.

saveinlaI assume you mean the $10 WYB $25 UP? The deal may have ended last week. I know it was a monthly deal, but sometimes what RiteAid considers to be a month does not match with reality. I don't think my receipts from Tuesday were tracking it either, but I don't have them on me ATM.

RANT
It appears there is NOTHING in Safeway J4U offers this week: not on the ad or when I log in. Maybe, just maybe they have FINALLY realized the consumer is just totally PO’d at their poor system which does NOT work at least half the time. There are items listed in J4U but the $ are NO different than the regular ad prices. Even the deal match list week is…….poor. I have only 1 item on my Safeway list and that is a want not need. They do have a different section now called Personalized Deals. BLEEECH. Nothing I want, need or would even think about buying at the $$ listed. I can get the same or comparable stuff elsewhere 20-40% cheaper. The only item is FREE and there is NO way to add it to my card. Where one usually clicks to add is just NOT there and the ad IS live.

I sure hope March is more profitable than Feb was!!! Lena I was thinking the same thing. My local grocery store has been good to me lately but the nat drug store chains are enough to make me want to just blow my eCBs on whatever and take a break for a while.

marvholly: Some weeks are better than others for J4U deals--just like some of the drugstores are better than others some weeks. I do get some great deals with J4U at Safeway: Hebrew National hot dogs for $2.66 pack, for example. I assume they've logged that I've bought those when they are b1g1 free. Last week I had a JFU price on I Can't Believe it's Not Butter for $2.07. I had two $1.25 IP q's so I bought two. Yoplait cups for .48 ea and I used a $1/10 q. There's not a lot of competition near where we live so I'm stuck with Safeway, Raley's (even more expensive) and Target. I've gotten pretty good at cherry picking and have been able to keep the food budget at a little over $200 month for 3 adults. Raley's had Kellogg's cereal last week at $1.99 ea. wyb4. I had the $5/5; and 2 $4/4 q's so stocked up. Then I submitted the receipt for the $10 gas card. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your J4U deals get better. BTW, they just made some computer programming changes and I think they are probably having issues with it again--just like when it started. In all my years of working, whenever a new or changed computer program was introduced at work, there were always issues--no matter how much testing was done. Nothing is like LIVE! Good luck. Keep at it.

I agree re CVS and WAGS--not too much going on there. But RA was pretty good to me the last couple of weeks and has provided me with two rebates: $5 Colgate and $28 toward the P&G $15 wyb $50 of certain products. The Pantene ICE and Aqua Mist (thanks misspt) was tax only after using the $3/2 q from last weekend as it generated $2 UP and 2/$1 UPs for those brands. I still have $37.50 in UPs to use. Also, sometimes I just get tired of running after the deals. Lose my mojo or something. Then I read frugalsuz' blog and get re-energized. That's what happened when she started outline the RA deals.

Hound AlertMaxwell House Coffee I know this is probably a long shot, but, I really would like some Q's for a sale at Price Chopper next week. $1/1 or $1/2 would be fine. All that is out right now, from what's listed on HCW, is tearpad's and a booklet Q. I can even use a store Q cuz PC takes all competitor Q's. TIA!

It is still valid, but RA did an update on Sunday and it seems that tracking is all screwed up. I had $20 going into this week and I bought two Robitussin, and my tracking switched to .04 indicating I finished the fourth +UP deal (which I had), but no +UP printed. Since then my receipts show various dollar amounts for tracking or none at all. I, too, will be chatting with RA to get my $10..... ETA: I think the confusion about whether or not this is dead, is the misprint in the ad regarding get $10 WYB $30, this was suppose to be the same deal as Colgate/Thermacare/Advil which is WYB $25, I think that's why some folks think the deal was finished last week.

Grocery is dead for me here, but the drugstores are popping! (for me) This week: CVS: 16 Pert BOGO 3.79 minus $16 in $1/1 coupons and a $3/15 (coulda used a second, but found some Pert on the fly and had to snatch it from under an EC's nose) got a $10 GC (WYB $30) and my $5 beauty ECB. I also bought some L'Oreal on Sunday to use the $3/1 coupons this also netted a $3 EB and worked toward my BC spending. Also got free UP2U gum. WAGs: I have the $1/1 Poligrip that makes poligrip profitable, the $3 Ultimate Flora that makes $3 in Profit, and I bought the heck out of the huggies wipes that were $2.49 and generating the $2 RR (now dead) + the candy deal (my sister won the $25 GC so a girl's gotta try) and the free Belvita and the Burt's Bees has kept me rolling, rolling, rolling.. RA: I earned a second $20 winter reward on my second lesser used card, just by buying $31 in free gum UP2U is free and tracks for WR and I bought the Special K with the $5/5 Kellogg's IP that was recently available which also has a savings star $5 WYB $20 tracking ($1/ box Special K works for me), I bought the Right Guard Body Wash and used the $3/2 IPs, the Pantene Ice, and two Schick Razors. I used all my coupons, $32 in UPs, $4 in tax and got back $36 in UPs. It's been a pretty exciting drugstore week for me.....

misspt,
I bought one Colgate TP and the 10$ Up popped out. HTH
SW was good to me last week and RA has been good to me this whole month. I did roll a couple of Huggies RR, but my store is out of both huggies and belvita (that biscuit is good - tried the oats variety) and so I had to stop.

I decided when they first rolled the program out that J4U wasn't just for me. This is a "no shop week" for me at Safeway (and Nob Hill) too. I mostly only cherry pick at those stores. I do most of my "everyday shopping" (produce, dairy, etc.) elsewhere.

so I finally got the ball rolling with what I considered a decent trip to CVS...I netted almost $24 in ecb's which I plan to use part of with the 3 off 15 to finish my spend 30 get the $10 gc. Do you guys ever worry that you won't be able to use the ecb's? I mean should I use them on items that will not net me more ecb's or wait?

Most EBs have a 30 day expiration, so you should be able to roll them over the next couple of weeks. In other CVS news, I am in the TEST AD area for CVS next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get a 2 page flyer, oh joy....

I love the GC deals if I can do them with little or no OOP after using my EBs cuz GCs do not expire. If you have EBs leftover after your GC deal, look at the ad previews and decide how to use them most efficiently FOR YOU. It will depend on the ads, the coupons you have available, and what you need to stockpile that is on sale.

Yoo-hoo Ruby & Meijer shoppers - are you out there? I just read that the Kraft CAT rolls at Meijer, so stock up on cheap/free Kraft products.[/color] [/b]The Philadelphia indulgence is a MM if you got the $1.50/1 Q from Kraft First taste or just with 5 x 75c Qs. I'm so excited. I'm heading to Meijer in a little while.
