to this entire thread. I had to laugh because websites out there that pushed the idea of reshoring aside for the last 6 years are now all of a sudden saying this is real. Of course, the flip side of the coin is that all these people that believe Trump will be a disaster are now saying that manufacturing is gone for good. I love the middle path. Balance, and the truth will set us free!!! Thanks JC! Foxconn studying possibility of moving iPhone production to U.S. - Nikkei

I am very leery of getting private industry into financing roads. Pence and his predecessor did this in Indiana, the Italian? based company went belly up and now I don't know what we have here. It was in the news and then not.
Texas did similar and very soon thereafter one of the key Texas officials got a job with the company, of course since he was a repub there was no payoff involved. Very big question was and is how much will be done to maintain them. Would rather they are tax payer supported and owned.
Look out for Trump, it likely will be some trump construction company, I imagine he will be a multi billionaire by the time he is out of the presidency, he will get special interests of his involved in everything since he doesn't want to separate out business. I trust him far as I could throw him.
I do hope jobs come back. DH said some of the working conditions, safety, infrastructure, lack of electric, water, and educated people, had to be a big problem. He saw it daily when working in 3rd world countries.
However Microsoft owner, name slips me at the moment was on a program the other day saying that robotics more and more and will be displacing more. So something will have to be done for all these people to survive, said that needs to be worked on. Likely a guaranteed allowance or something will have to be implemented, how will that give people incentives to work and learn?

First, under the current system the taxpayer owns nothing and has seen government officials pile on billions and trillions in debt. I'm not even going to address speculation about conflict of interest at this point... As far as displaced workers due to robots are concerned, it's going to be very similar to what happened at the advent of the power loom and automobile; more opportunities, not less are coming. Honestly, nothing makes me sicker than titans of technology claiming that their industry is going to remove workers and force the government to pay for everyone to live.

And the head of Ford said he's an f-ing liar... No he didn't.. I love the irony of you lying trying to prove someone else is a liar. Had you said that Trump exaggerated the call between him and Ford and that only the Lincoln MKZ will be staying and that the plant was never moving, then okay. But as an aside, your emotional rants all over the place are quite entertaining.

I'm not emotional. I'm non pc.
Yes, i was exaggerating for effect. I have no problem admitting that he did not directly say those words... if he had, i would have put them in quotations and cited my source. That's how i rolll.
In the end though, since Trump claimed to get the call which in fact, you admit he did not get... he's an f-ing liar... and you can quote me on that.

No, he's not lying. Bill Ford did call him and - just like you did here - he embellished for effect. So congrats, you and the president elect are deploying the same tactics!

Really, this has been the most positive I have been in a good decade. Really liked hearing about tax cuts and tax overhaul today by the President. Man, if he delivers on this... Might Trump be the American "Diocletian"? American Renaissance? I'm thinking more and more yes!

That is a great comparison! Just for the record here: The tax cuts will be awesome for sure. Even better though is that once the true producing states start to heal, the consumerism of the coasts that has been squeaking out growth will be put into perspective.

The natural rebalancing that has been outlined in this thread appears to be on an accelerated path now! *Had to make that one small correction for the good professor.

I can't believe the media feeding frenzy that would have one take his eye off the ball. Somebody sure wants to bury and distract attention from economics here. It's jobs and growth man!

Hilarious!! I was literally just saying the same thing to my DW. The radio announcers up here are going off about the press conference yesterday; their main point was, "just run the country already!" I'm just laughing my a$$ off, what? You mean like the Philly manufacturing index hitting numbers not seen since the 1980's??

I hear ya. The best part is he seems set to say something like; "okay, we have to keep some of our farmers, cleaners, and construction workers. The bad hombres are out! Wall is built. Bring on the automation!" Keep in mind though, the debt and rates as we have discussed. It's still gonna be slow going for a bit yet, I think. GDP estimate cuts show divergence between economic activity and optimism
