This is the paradox that is China. From above to this.. American "panda" movie stirs controversy among Chinese moviegoers: news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/entertainment/2011-05/29/c_13899327.htm I think most of us know why they will have no choice but to use the tried and true success of American brands to keep their tight rope balance act going for now.

Your right! Finally! Instead, the poll results suggest that Canadians are adopting a "unique conservatism" that combines free market principles while government takes smaller role in day-to-day life but keeps a close eye on safety and security.Free Enterprise!

You can't beat free enterprise becase it lets ideas flourish, and people have the freedom to believe what the choose. Love not war, who has time for war when eveyone has things to do? Like watch American Idol, or go to the ball game, or go to the mall. You have to admit it now, once people are shown the truth they are set free. We are finding balance, it's not that they think that reducing emmsions is bad, from your article Ty.
I would even bet that they think it's a good thing now that c02 can be used for enhanced oil recovery, and possibly concentrated to help with the production of bio mass. Plus the new coal plant at Boundy dam here in Sask, is not only fitted with Co2 capture, it will also be fitted to catch the S02 to make sulfuric acid.
These regs take place in 2020 so there is time for bickers. Free enterprise , IMO, doesn't mean the business is free to do what they what, because we know that can be criminal, it means that they should be kept in check by the govt for the well being of the people, and the people should make sure that the govt is doing what's best for the people, and govenrment shouldn't be running businesses, the people should.

Reducing emissions isn't bad but here in IL AEP has already asked for a Rate increase that takes that 10 to 35% increase in our bill to take place way before 2020, like before the end of this year. Utility Bills are a big expense to Small business's let alone the private person. We the consumer have been nickeled and dimmed to death by by all of the little increases that our government has put into place against Companies that makes them increase their prices when they don't want to at this place or time because they know what kind of damage it will do to the consumer. I don't want a government that does what is best for me, I can handle that one for myself.

When Companies are forced to spend money, some people think that will create jobs, that it will do but at who's expense. They will past all of those cost right on down the line. So if someone is forced to spend 8 or 9 billion, where do you think they will get the money from? So when someone that wants to open up a small business and goes down to their Utility Company and ask for the power to be turn on and then told that they need the first 3 months up front for a down payment and find that now it cost 30% more to get opened. That right there puts a stop to a lot of New Business that want to open up.

It's not about the govt doing what's best for you, it's making sure that what is going on isn't criminal. These companies would continue to poison and pollute as long s you let them that shit causes cancer. We have seen what complete freedom in the banking industry causes.
I understand that right now it's very hard to swallow a 30% rate increase, we have been experiencing the same thing, with new technology we can find way to reuse things better and balance costs out. If things were better people would open that business, pass it on, and wages would keep pace with the increase as usual. However, jobs haven't kick in as soon as with other recovers, and the markets are way out ahead of the economy. This is because of the overbuilt housing market, the lack of grunt work thing. It's honestly time to rip those houses down and re plant some crops in places that that can happen. That is a lot of grunt work, and a great reward in the end.
Unfortunately because of the type of bust, it will take longer to see the results that we all want to see. However, if there wasn't anything happening then I would really start to worry. However, it's human nature to preserver. There was a manager for Blackstone talking on fri morning on cnbc, and he said that the is unprecedented times, because for the first time in post war history, govt is shrinking. It has been view for a while, and it was his as well; and it will continue to do so because there is no more room for government growth. Good thing the banks and business have a cash pile ready to go to work.

Government is always the last to cut back in a recession, all you have to look at is where the job losses are coming from now. The Banks and most Company's do have a ton of cash on hand but for the most part people are still in a debt reduction mood and with regulation uncertainly hanging over there heads, it will be awhile before Banks can loan it out or business start to spend it. The bottle neck is WHERE? We know that it's going to happen but there are things that could be done to speed it up.

I hear you Ty, however, the point that I have been making and again the manager at Blackstone said the same thing, there is no more room for governmental growth. Us Canadians were at the same point in the 90's. The Liberal(socialist) govt cut back govt spending, and became a conservative party. Since then we have grown together as a country under the understanding that the Govt needs to be around less, and spend less; and that is exactly what Mr. Manning's poll found, and that is what I see. Now, if a socialists country like Canada can agree on spending reduction, and a common ground so that we can turn a surplus, I have a hard time believing that the most entrepreneurial country in the world can't do the same thing. We all still have different political views, but we all agree, cut the spending you pigs! The reserves that have been announce, the re-shoring initiative that are being taking, the innovation that is happing, will all kick in and start to work. I was reading an article the other day and it referd to the USA as a country that was rich in Natural resources, just three years ago, it was, the US has used up all thier natural resources. It's amazing what an announcement of few billion barrels of oil, and a few billion cubic feet of NG will do to people opinions of the situation.

Years ago we knew that there was oil and gas in the shale but we didn't have the TEC to get it out and really didn't know how much there was. Could you really call it a Resource then? But now we do have the TEC to get it out of the ground and we can really show that it is a Resource that is a Game Changer for all of us. We need more Refinery's built here in the US( EPA get out of the way), More pipelines and Storage built to handle the added production. Have the Large Gas Stations put in CNG tanks for Cars and Trucks( wouldn't take them long to do it) More Cars and trucks that run on CNG. The cost difference of $2 compared to $4 per gallon is a game changer in itself. You know how much money that would put back into the consumers pocket. We could see DOW 20000 if that happened.Free enterprise at it's best. Oh and the JOBS it would create. Our Housing problems gone.

All of this could happen without it costing the Taxpayers any money. That's something I like very much.
