Dad had his heart cath this morning. No blockages found. So they're going to play with his meds. They are not keeping him overnight and Mom thinks they'll be home around noonish.

God, this week has just sucked sour frog ass. Is it Friday yet? Can I just curl up in a ball and sleep?
On Monday, we were prepping for a new dispatching system. Worked 11.5 hours. On Tuesday, we rolled it out - again worked 11.5 hours. On Wed. we tried to fix it. Worked 10.5 hours. Today, we're rolling back to the old system. I have no idea how long I'll be here today. We were supposed to do yoga tonight. Not happening. I told DH to go without me but he doesn't think he can manage to get the kids, feed them and himself and get there in time without me. Yay for being appreciated, I guess. I've shoveled snow earlier in the week. My officemate was out on Monday, Tuesday and today is in the hospital. She was in for a partial day yesterday. So I'm covering the bare basics of her job. I keep forgetting to get cash so I have no money to kick into the pool for lunch today. You guys know about Dad's stuff yesterday too. What else is going to hit this week?

I told DH about Shane's post on her unexpected $13K refund and how I'd be booking flights to Bora Bora. He was amused and a couple of minutes later said we should look into getting passports for us and the kids. We're not expecting a windfall but it'd be nice to have them ready. We do want to take them places. Or at least have the option to bring them along. My bucket list has lots of travel on it. So I guess I'll start on research for them this summer. I want to do Disney first.

Well, this weekend was, um, interesting. K started puking around 4am on Sat. C had crawled into bed with me and then both kids wanted me. The sick kid gets to pick which parent they want (ha ha) so K got to come into bed with me and DH got to go try to get C back to sleep. I think K is the only one who actually slept between 4-6am.
Sat. night, C didn't fall asleep until after 10pm. He'd had a 2.5 hour nap and would have slept longer if I hadn't woken him up. So he fought sleep.
K's got a miserable cough going. She's at MIL's today. We gave MIL the option of keeping her home if she thought it was best.

Fuck. Fuck. FUCK. FUCKITY FUCK FUCK.
Beth takes deep breath and screams "FUCK!!!!"
I hit someone last night, pulling out from Cabe's day care. I think my car is dead. I think her car is dead. Thankfully, she, I and Cabe seem to be ok. I'm a bit stiff this morning and definitely depressed about it.

I'm sorry Beth. I'm glad you, Cabe and the other driver are ok. Thanks. And thanks for the hug Jake. Yeah, the important thing is that we're all ok. I just got off the phone with the person assigned by my insurance company to investigate. She's recommending that we destroy and dispose of the booster seats after sending her make and model info. We need to gather up receipts for any work done on the car - tires, battery, etc. which may up the amount of payout. We have a $500 deductible, which I'm surprised at. I'd have assumed it was $1K. So I'm spreading the word to family, friends and coworkers that we're looking for a new to us vehicle. I'm ruling out a full size van and pickup trucks. DH is ruling out brand new. My immediate supervisor is going to be replacing her SUV later this year. She's meticulous in caring for her things so I'd be willing to buy it from her but I'm not sure if her timeline and ours will line up.

That stinks, Beth. Glad everyone is ok!! That's the important part, but I know the hassle of dealing with insurance and getting a new car will still be stressful. Hopefully you get a great deal soon and get your wheels back!

Thanks. Yeah, we're ok. Although Cabe's not sleeping well since late last week. So I'm not sleeping well since he comes to me. Sigh.
DH saw his pcp this morning. She said that if he feels lightheaded, to call. They'd then cut his dosage of metopolfol in half. This is the prescription from the ER doc on Thursday night. His blood pressure was 100 over 60, which is right on the line between low and too low. So he needs to be aware of that. He sees the cardiologist in 3 weeks.
Payout for car is around $7,500. We've got the paperwork for the tires and battery. And I emailed E the booster seat make and model info. That might add a bit to the payout amount. Not sure. We think we're going to look for cars in the $7,500-$10K range. We'll see what we find. IF we need to up the budget we will. If we find something in that range, we'll probably pay cash/cashier's check. If we up it, we might dip into savings or take out a small loan.
My immediate supervisor agreed to give me a ride home tonight. We're picking up a loaner from Scott's work tonight, if all goes according to plan. We'll have that for a couple of weeks.

Cabe slept in his bed all night the last 2 nights. Woohoo! But I must have missed the tag team slap he gave Keira because SHE'S crawled in with me the last 2 n ights. Went to court for the ticket I got in the accident last week. I had the wrong date. Ooops. The City Attorney was very nice about it and even told me what he'd offer me on the correct date - reduced to 2 points and "impeding traffic" from 4 points and "failure to yield" Had Keira's parent teacher conference last night. Her teacher really likes her, says she really smart and detailed in her work. Never says anything bad to or about her classmates. Also she thinks K will have no problems transitioning to 1st grade. I didn't realize people DID have issues transitioning from K5 to 1st grade. But I went to K5 at the same school I went to 1-8th grades at.

Just had my annual performance review (raises are not tied to this in any way) and need to work on procrastination and lack of initiative. And I got a very tactful "I'm recreating the position you're interested in and you're not qualified for it" I can't say that any of it is wrong either. So it's time to get to work.

Can March be over now? Please? DH sees the cardiologist next week. In the meantime, x rays just found he's got some kind of degeneration going on with his vertebra (that doesn't look spelled right) and he's been referred to an ortho for surgery. I want him healthy.

Dh has an appt. with the cardiologist on Friday and he's trying, sort of, to get an appt. with the back doctor too. If he does, we'll both take the day off because I am going to these appts.

DH has an appt. with the back doctor today. I'm going to that one. I've got a conference call on Friday. I'm trying to reschedule that but if I can't, I won't be going to his cardio appt.
DH finished our taxes last night. We're getting about $3900 back from state and feds combined. Thank you tax payers of the US for the child care credit. I think we've got 1 more year of that making a big increase in our refunds before we drop back to our "normal" of $1500-$2K combined.
Keira's just finishing up a section on Oceans, including sea life. So last night she made paper puppets at my Mom's and put on a puppet show for us at home. There was a shark, a turtle, a starfish, a crab and I don't remember what else. But she's chattering along, doing her story line and all of sudden "and he died" It was so incongruous and she said it in such a happy tone that we just about died laughing. She was making it up as she went along and I don't think she knew how to end it. But it was so funny.
I've been to the gym twice this week. I'm only spending 30 minutes on a bike (rolling hills, level 1) lately so last night I tried level 2. Ouch. I had to drop back to level 1 just before the 1/2 mark. I'm not going tonight. After DH's appt, I'm going home to scrub the big bathroom top to bottom. I'm guessing that's just as good or better than the gym. Then on Thurs. I'll go back to the gym. I'm also trying to not snack as much, which is really hard for me. I'm not ready to go back to the Losing weight thread yet. I will eventually though.
I'm going to see my doctor about my bone spurs and weaning me off the happy meds. And I looked into a closer yoga place for DH and me. Not sure it's going to be a good fit but they do offer a free first lesson so we'll be able to check it out. Need to remember to talk to DH about it. I've mentioned the place to him but I keep forgetting to follow up.

DH (and I) saw the back doctor yesterday. First off, DH has degenerative disc disease, which is nothing more than normalish wear and tear on the spinal column due to age. So it's not a mechanical issue. He does have pain from inflamed muscles and/or nerves. So he's to use heat, ice and ibuprofin (or the homeopathic stuff he found and thinks to be working, something like curmedin. The doctor took a look at it and agreed that if DH thinks it's working, he should continue and we veered into a brief discussion of sugar cures, etc.) DH is to continue to exercise and we're looking into more yoga, chiropractors and acupuncture. The doctor agreed to put orders into the system for the chiropractor and acupuncture because we're not sure how the insurance is going to work on them and we figured we might as well get this in writing while we're there. So a BIG feeling of relief on this.
Friday is the cardiologist.
I think I figured out why my boss irritates me so much. She doesn't have a freaking clue what I do and what I cover for and when I ask for help. Admittedly I've slid on some of that so the lines are fuzzy right now but yes, I provide backup, as much as I can, when coworker is out.

I had an opportunity to ask a cop a question today, about a stop DH and I saw about 6 weeks back near our house. He called it a "rough area" We live a couple of blocks form the stop. Don't call my neighborhood rough! I still have to live there! All panic and kidding aside, I was glad to get an answer. It was an interesting conversation.

DH's cardiologist appt. was Friday. I blew off the rest of the day. Hit the mall and then curled up on the couch with a box of See's chocolates and a book by Terry Pratchett. DH is to keep on taking his meds. Doctor said he might need to be on them the rest of his life or he may not. No one knows if the PAC will go away or not. He also had DH describe one of the feelings he gets without using the word "palpitation" Based on what DH said, the doctor decided it's not a heart thing, therefore he can't help DH with it. So if DH wants help with that one sensation, he needs to go back to the pcp for that. We're ok with that as an answer. DH gets to go back in 1 year for a followup, mainly because I asked about one. We got haircuts on Sat, the kids and I. I'm now dark red. Cabe got buzzed. He looks to different! Sun. I took the kids to the Zoo. We were there for 3.5 hours. My thighs still hurt today from all the walking. Cabe melted down around lunchtime. The kids LOVE Zoo popcorn (hell, they love any popcorn) but none of the popcorn stands were open. So we stood in the line from hell to order popcorn. I doublechecked with both kids before ordering if they wanted giant pretzel or popcorn. They said popcorn. Ordered, paid, got our number and waited for them to catch up to us. Cabe saw the pretzels and decided he wanted one. There was no way in hell I was getting back in line for a damn pretzel. So he started crying, begging and kicking me in the shins (lightly) while I kept saying no. If the line hadn't been so hideous, I'd have gotten him the pretzel, in all honesty. Eventually, he stopped crying, once we were outside with the popcorn. I got myself a hot dog and the kids ate about 1/2 of it. Which I knew would happen. All in all, it was a nice weekend. I didn't get anything of the stuff I wanted to get done, done (except for hair cuts) but that's ok.

It didn't show up with DH was plugged into everything at the ER and he did have some there. Thanks. HOw are you guys doing?

Court was easy. Interesting too. Apparently some people can't manage a $100 fine and need a payment plan for it. Even at my brokest point, I could scrounge up the fine money. But it wasn't always easy. Dh saw the chiropractor yesterday. He felt better yesterday afternoon, worse this morning. That's apparently par for the course. He sees the chiropractor again this week and 2x a week for the next 2 weeks. Then DH should be around 50% better and will drop to fewer visits, unknown how often at this point. He's got some stretches he's supposed to do too. I think I'm PMSing. I want to eat non-stop. And have rapid mood swings. Joy.
