You go Beth! It was awesome to hang out with you guys too. I am just a bit outgoing, so it is really tough to be up here without a network of friends. And those darn cookies at the hotel!!! I am hating the scale today, but still going to WW tomorrow to own it.

I took 2 on the way out. Cabe ate them both. It was supposed to be one for me and one for him. Stinker. That's what I get for putting them in his truck bed to get them out to the car.

God I'm tired. Cabe didn't want to sleep alone last night. Every time I'd sneak out, within 5 minutes he's crying. I'm beat today. I have a 4 day weekend though, thanks to a furlough. Mom and i are taking the kids to Bay Beach, then going up to her trailer in Door Co. and spending the night. We'll stop at the awesome dairy farm w/ ice cream and playground on the way home. DH works Friday and is leaving Sat. to go back to the land with his parents. He'll be home on Monday. He's renting a camper again. I hope he has fun. He may buy a boat while he's up there. There's a couple for sale that we looked at last weekend. He may take his dad to see them first. Not sure what he's going to do. He's got my approval though. We need/want a cheap rowboat to leave on the land and these seem to be priced at the going rates, based on a Craig's List search. And now I'm going to play with my Phil button. Which I'm not seeing on the bar. Is it only in YM? I'll have to go look. A coworker's DH is retiring and we talked a bit about retirement and pension stuff yesterday. She's my age, more or less and her husband's got at least 15 years on her.

Yep, the Phil button is in YM. For those who don't know, Phil usually trots out stats on how much $X, invested for Y years will result in $Z due to 11% historical returns in the stock market. It's a running joke on YM, so much that Virgil created a script and stuck it in the posting options stuff on YM. Phil's a retired engineer and he takes the ribbing on this well.

Had a good weekend, overall. On Friday the kids and I headed up to Door County. Stopped for ice cream at the dairy farm w/ the ice cream parlor. They've got toys and animals the kids can feed. We were there over an hour. Kids needed to run after being stuck in the car for 3 hours. Got up to the trailer and my parents in time for dinner. Spent some time in the pool. Sat we went to Bay Beach, an amusement park aimed at kids 7/8 and under. Keira turned out to be too short for the roller coaster, much to her and my dismay. We did the Tilt a Whirl twice, once with my Mom and Cabe. Mom hadn't ridden that in years and during a particularly fast turn, yelled "Oh My God" loudly. My Mom doesn't swear, curse or take the name of the Lord in vain so it was funny. Cabe didn't like the giant slide. It's got a pretty steep/vertical slope and he didn't like that. But we got him on some of the rides - the planes, the boats, the ladybugs and the kid swings. And he loved the playground, but we knew that going into it. Sun. we packed up and headed for home. I got to pull over and yell at the kids twice in 5 miles. Joy. But bedtime went smoothly. Mon. we went to a family picnic. Kids had fun there. We got home around 5pm and Scott got home a couple of minutes later. He'd spent the weekend at the land with his parents. It was cool and soggy most of the time they were up there. But it sounds like they had fun. He's off today. Keira's first day of kindergarten is today. We both dropped her off. She was bouncing up and down with excitement while in line, which is a good sign. DH is going grocery shopping today, which is good, because her lunch options were pretty slim this morning.

We're doing mandatory training at work. A lot of it hit home for me. Got some thinking to do.

Talked briefly with MIL and IM'd with SIL the last few days. DN#6 is, I don't even know what to say at this point. I guess they're looking into boarding schools/group homes. I'm going to try to get together with SIL this weekend and let her vent.

Got a chance to talk with L this weekend. Not good at all. I feel so bad for them all. And while I try not to judge, I can't wrap my head and heart around some of the decisions they make as parents. Even knowing the counselor is advising them on some of the decisions.

She's 13. She was suspended from school yesterday and last night was wielding a butcher knife at BIL. I don't know why she was suspended or why the knife. And the treatment center told L that the only way they'd could take DN#6 is with a court order. WHich, might be coming sooner rather than later, based on the knife. So DD is spending a bit of time daily with DN#6 at MIL's (before school care 5 days a week and after school care 3 days a week)

Cousin's Weekend is ON! Woohoo! I'm going. I'm not sure if I'm taking DD with me or not. I'm hoping for not because it's a very casual deal and no one will be offended if I sleep 40 hours of the 48 I expect to be up there... I also need to get directions and find out how we're dealing with food. If I have to figure out my own food, I'm drinking some ham, bagels and bread, cream cheese and chocolate. And wine. DD's got 2 Fridays off in Oct. So one of those is going to be the weekend we do the Wisconsin Dells. I've given DH my requirements (indoor water park in same building as room) and he's checking out rates and places he can eat. DH is going to talk to his brother about their co-owned boat - which neither of them has taken out in a couple of years and the motor may have some issues. The insurance is due soon. Their parents are selling THEIR boat to DH. So it's time to the other one. We've got 2 potential buyers interested in it.

I thought I'd better check in. It's been awhile since I posted on this thread. Cousin's weekend rocked. Everyone liked my cheap wine. It was preferred over several more expansive bottles too. It's Crane Lake and Woodman's sells it for 3 for $9 or 3 for $10. And they make most of the standard types, if you're looking for cheap wine. DH carved the 1st of the pumpkins yesterday, with "help" from K. I'd bought him one of those Pumpkin Master carving sets on sale a couple of years ago. We didn't carve any pumpkins last year so it sat. Fortunately, I found it again. So K picked out the Kitty Bat image. He did a pretty good job. We're not sure it's going to last until Halloween but whatever. I've been blowing off eating decent and exercising. So I'm getting back on that. We hosted MIL's b-day party (a couple of weeks late) on Sat. So the house is tidy-ish. Basement still looks like a bomb went off in it though. We confirmed we're hosting Christmas. I almost invited everyone to Thanksgiving but managed to restrain myself. Esp. since I was bitching to DH about how much I hate the prep work for having a party. I even told him the next time I start thinking about hosting to remind me how much I hate the prep work. So when I told him about Thanksgiving and restraining myself, he laughed. We'll be hosting again in a few weeks - C turns 4. It's hard to think of him as 4 - he's so big he's in size 6's mostly. His language is coming along wonderfully. He's also discovered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which I'm happy about. I like them, the first time round at least.

My car wouldn't start last night at my parents. It's still in their driveway. We managed to get it running long enough to play musical cars. Then I borrowed Mom's van last night for bumming around in.

Today is our 9th anniversary. We've got a parent teacher conference tonight at 6 and then I think we're going out for a drink. The "real" celebration is in Nov. when we're taking the kids to the Dells. We're staying at the Kalahari for a weekend.

Oh and the car needed/got a new battery. As far as we can determine, the original was still in it - so 7 years.

Wow. We bought the car in 2008, just before K was born. DN#6 is heading for serious trouble. She keeps going out the windows and running away for a few hours. She comes home somewhere between 8-11pm. She's only 13. I spent time with her mom this weekend. That household is in such a terrible place. I know there's nothing I can do at this point except listen. C will be 4 on Wed. I've got a pinata I'm going to take to his dcp. It's going to be mostly filled with cheap Halloweeny stuff, bubbles and fruit snacks. He's been leaking though his pullup nightly lately but poop training is coming along well. And when I picked him up last week, one of his teachers told me that his language skills have taking huge leaps while she's been there. And he's starting to be aware of consequences too. Yay! My parents bought C a bike for his b-day. Mom and my sister came and picked him up yesterday to shop, they needed to have him try out bikes to get the right size. He's on a 20 inch bike! He's only 4!

The weekend at the waterpark resort had it's ups and downs. We're all overtired.
As for me, right now I'm also feeling really, really, really defensive. About just about everything in my life. Guess this means it's time to go back and see Liz.
The latest is my mom relaying that my older brother (who's been visiting my Mom on Tuesdays when she watches Cabe) says he too thinks Cabe is behind. So in addition to feeling defensive, I feel like I'm failing him by not getting him checked before this. My brother has a nephew on his wife's side that is about Cabe's age. I know they mean well but on top of 2 notes sent home with Cabe yesterday, I'm just overwhelmed or something. Part of me feels like 'stop picking on my kid, he'll get there at his own pace' and part of me feels like I should do/have done something months ago. Stupid mommy guilt gets you coming and going.
And the stupid health contractor lost a flash drive with 6000 names, dob, SSNs, etc. on it. And then didn't tell my employer for 3 weeks. DH put an alert on our credit reports yesterday, to be on the safe side.

Thanks Taz. I managed to get about 6 hrs of sleep last night. That helps.
Part of this is I have no freaking time to work with Cabe. I can't move his bedtime back, he gets aggressive when he's overtired. Hence one of Monday's notes home.

Thanks Taz.
On Friday I went Christmas shopping with my sister. I practically blew up my credit card and no calls, no alerts, nothing.
Sat. my Mom and I took the kids shoe shopping. K is a size 12.5 and got red Dorothy shoes. C is a 13.5 -faint-and got another pair of Angry Bird sneakers.
Since I knew I was going shopping on Friday, I let the kids sleep late and took them to school/dcp. C and I waited until K was inside before leaving. So I'm looking at the K4 boys in the front of the lines. C is a good head and a half taller than them. And they're older than him.
