<HUGS> for your mom's birthday, toomuchreality! I'm glad your family gathering went well. DH made it home, so I'm off to bed. Good Night All! Thanks. Glad your DH made it home safely. I hope you sleep well tonight.

Thank you NancysSummerSip. After the past couple of weeks of too many sweets, some fresh fruit and a bagel seems a good way to end the year.

Happy last day of the year, peeps! I hope brunch works for everyone. I had a great race; the cold helped. Celebrated with hot tea and the last piece of blueberry coffee cake.

Thanks Nancy!
Since New year's eve is on Sunday, this year, does that give Catholics a pass, for celebrating? Or does it mean they have to dwell on it a week, before they can ask for forgiveness? - Just curious.
I want to find/get some deliciously soft leather driving gloves, this winter. I'm tired of my hands (mostly fingers) hurting so bad, when I drive in the winter. After damaging the nerves, when I burned my hands, they are SOOOO sensitive to hot and cold! Even after 15 years.
I don't want anything bulky, like ski gloves. I've been looking for some, for probably 30+ years, when I lost one of my last pair.
Maybe I'll look for a good insulated cover, for my steering wheel, instead.
I bought a pink rhinestone cover for it, Friday night. But DD2 thinks it is ridiculous and I doubt it's very comfy to steer with; in hot or cold. It's just over the top- excessive. As are my bright pink seat covers. HAHAHA 🤣
Kind of unexpected, for an old lady, in an 2012 ford focus. Which makes me laugh.😁 (Light teal color body, on car- liftback).
I wanted to post an image of car, so you could get an idea how outrageous it would be. But can't, from my phone.
Maybe I'll try and talk her into going shopping with me. 🤣

I wear the ones that look like skiing gloves when driving in Winter.

I wear the ones that look like skiing gloves when driving in Winter. The leather driving gloves I had were also fitted and beautiful. They were dreamy soft and I was always surprised at how much they helped with the cold, because they were such a thin, soft, leather and so comfortable. I was always very careful, when I wore them, for fear I'd drop, or lose one. They were my favorite gloves I've ever owned. And I've owned a LOT since then. Mittens, gloves, heated, ski, I've tried them all, even leather gardening gloves. And never found another pair I liked. I tried a new pair, on Christmas eve. Then told DD1s wife to put them in their donation bin. They didn't fit well and weren't warm, at all. I'll keep looking. DH2 used to tell me the ones I liked so much, were made of foreskin, because they were so supple. Truly fabulous. The only thing I didn't care for was the color. They were tan and all my coats were black, except my white ski parka, with an embroidered rainbow 🌈 on the front. I used to wear a lot of white with a rainbow 🌈, back in the early 80's.I was wearing white overalls with an embroidered rainbow 🌈 that went up one leg over the bib and back down the other leg, the night I met DH2. We got married under a giant rented rainbow 🌈 and had big rainbow colored bouquets of helium balloons 🎈, instead of flowers 🥀. That was fun, because it was different. The guy that parked my car at the hotel (valet) that night, came walking up to the front desk, holding a BUNCH of helium balloons, he'd taken from my car. 🎈🎈🎈 We got married on Friday the 13th. That should have been a huge clue! 😳😳😳

May we start the new year with a lighter brunch (and a lot of coffee)?

Good Morning Kids! Thanks NancysSummerSip! We did stay up until midnight, but then went right to bed since DH had to work this morning. Breakfast looks great, and I believe I'll have some of the fresh fruit, granola and yogurt.

I was up sick a good portion of the night so just kind of puttered around today. There were a few things accomplished but far more games of solitaire were played then things that got done around the house.

Between 4 - 4:30AM my neighbor came knocking on my door. I assume to borrow something again. I had taken sleep meds, so I was annoyed and didn't get up, to see what he wanted, as it wasn't important to me and I was tired. They didn't call or text, to ask for anything, or let me know they were coming. They just kept banging on my metal door, with something metal. I was annoyed. No one came over today, so I assume they got what they needed, from someone else. I will continue to ignore their knocking and requests, hoping they stop doing it. Their needs are not my responsibility. Esp not at 4AM. I think they wanted to use my plunger again. They have 2 bathrooms and toilets. Use the other one! I wonder if they flush wipes often? In any case, they should buy their own plunger. They don't come over, unless they want or need something. Waking someone up at 4AM, hardly seems appropriate.
I slept all day. I have a n appt to get my Covid and RSV vaccinations tomorrow. Oh, goody.

toomuchreality I agree with you 4:00 AM is not an appropriate time to be knocking on your door unless there is a fire and then words should be used in addition to knocking.

The only reason I would be knocking on my neighbor's door at 4 AM is if there is a fire and they need to get out. Yes, I would be yelling Fire.
I slept very well last night, so today should be a better day.

Good Morning Kids! I don't answer the door after dark, but hey, I'm a city girl. That's got home invasion written all over it, so no, I will not open the door to anyone who is knocking at crazy times of the night. If it WAS your neighbor, that's just rude.
Insomnia hit hard again last night. Don't know what's going on, but insomnia is SO annoying.

Some of our new snow FINALLY started to melt today. It was lovely to hear the dripping off of the roof. The only problem is, now the dirt will be exposed once again in the backyard, and the pups will be dragging it into the house.

Survived the first day back at work. Was very busy and we left late. Got several things to accomplish tonight including downloading the FMLA forms from the doctor and emailing them to HR. Dealing with locked down work stuff is really a trial. So many hoops I have to jump here and did also back at the facility. Never anywhere near this annoying nor so effortful when working IT jobs. So I need to download files and then upload them into mail which I will send using my personal account. Work does not pay to license much at work so even uploading a cover letter written on the fly for a position I am doing now, was a no go. So yet more crap to do on my home system cuz I just can't get what I think are simple things, to work while at work. So I suppose I'll see if I can find some version of my resume I might have applied with back then. Its already almost 8 so not sure how much time I have. Need to talk myself into making dinner and tomorrow's lunch.

Some of our new snow FINALLY started to melt today. It was lovely to hear the dripping off of the roof. The only problem is, now the dirt will be exposed once again in the backyard, and the pups will be dragging it into the house. I bought Muuddy Mats, for my girls houses, for Christmas. Unfortunately, they haven't arrived yet. They were kind of spendy, for a door mat. But they stay in place and wash well. DD2 has a white runner at her front door and a white door mat at her garage door. I bought 1 medium size, medium grey, for each house (for their back doors), since we had decided not to exchange gifts this year. They were out of the larger size, in the grey color I wanted, when I ordered them. And although they were promised to arrive by 12/25, I didn't really expect that. I was then told I'd get them by the 1st, which I did expect. Since they are made and shipped in the USA and they'd already missed one delivery date. Now their saying I'll get them by the 5th of January. (I paid extra for faster shipping, 🙄) As I've said before, I don't have good luck, with online shopping. I hope they arrive soon! I think they're going to be worth the price. And they can buy additional ones, to go with what I bought, if they choose. I think everyone is excited to get them. No one complained, when I told them I bought them. 😁

I think its time to cut them off from any assistance ever again on your part.

One thing down. Needed a nap before I could deal with the doctor's note. Did not quite make 1/2, emailed it a couple minutes after midnight. The office peeps ran all of it together in one file. Will find out when I get to work if that is OK.
Now to feed and care for Crestie and return to bed. Did not make lunch for work yet so might scramble in the morning with something easy versus the healthier lunch/dinner I had in mind last night.

I just woke up at 10:30AM. I made a few phone calls and now I'm eating graham crackers and milk for breakfast. It made me wonder, did you have graham crackers and milk, in kindergarten? I did

Ugh. I have literally spent hours on the phone, trying to get things set up, because I changed insurance companies, Jan 1st,2024 and I have a doctor appt tomorrow. There are some changes that must be made and a new membership card sent out. I tried downloading the app for the new insurance co, but by the time I read through their privacy policy etc. it would no longer allow me to continue. I am so frustrated right now!
I give up for the time being.
I need a distraction from all of this!
How has your day gone/been?
Good, I hope!

This has been a very long work week for a short week. Yesterday a process got messed up so tomorrow we "get" to have a meeting with this lady who talks over everyone, thinks she is in charge of everything, and thinks she knows more than anyone else. I had a short meeting with my boss today so he was up to speed before we go into that meeting tomorrow.
I call that part of my no bosses left uninformed policy. If there is any chance that one of my bosses could get blindsided by something going into a meeting I do whatever I can to let them know the what, why, where etc of what happened.

That sounds awful. (Not a good time.) I hope your boss appreciates what you did for him.
