DH normally won't mow when the lawn is wet, but he's been scheduled for so many hours at work lately that he went ahead & mowed this morning, including the area that had been under water last night.  


The news claims we just had our warmest September ever.  Then tomorrow there is a major race nearby, and frankly I feel badly for the runners, because it's supposed to be our warmest October 1st ever.


Definitely strange weather.  It beats blizzards, but I'd hate to be a farmer dealing with all of this crazy.  With the heavy rain we got last night it's going to complicate the harvest.

The rain came too late to help the crops and now it is making it more difficult to harvest the crops

It has been raining here, hard, for hours. No thunder and lightning though. I don't mind rain, without thunder and lightning. 🌩

Beautiful sunshine this morning.   Problem is that the temperature is supposed to be 88.  In August.

Today looks like it is going to be a beautiful day once it warms up some.  We got down into the 30's overnight for the first time this fall.  I'm glad we got all the hoses disconnected and the pumps drained on the pool yesterday.

I hope to finish mowing the lawn this afternoon and then work away on any of the other messes in the yard that need attention.

I did a long bike ride (no running until after the cyst is removed) and when I got back, I decided to trim the hedges, rather than wait for the weather to turn.

Good thing. It rained about 1/2 hour after I finished picking up outside.

It is sunny and around 80 degrees right now.  It feels a lot more like Summer.  Weird for the first of October.

Whenever it stays warm at the beginning of October, I always hope it will be warm for all the littles, on Halloween. Rarely does it happen.

We've got some exciting news to share.  DD's BF proposed!      We like him, and of course DD does too, so it's a win-win.  Now I need to focus on exciting stuff, like trying to find a mother-of-the-bride dress that actually looks good on a middle-aged woman without looking trampy.

Wow. After raining all night, it is now raining like cats and dogs here! I haven't been outside yet, but it sounds like it's really coming down.
I have some errands to run. But I don't really want to do it in this weather. It's coming down hard! I just want to go back to sleep.

   Thank you.  Since they are adults, they are doing most of the planning.  I've set a budget, and mentioned that if they go over, it's on them.  I am going dress shopping with DD, at her request, so that'll be fun, as she's like me in not wanting a dress that's too low cut in front, or just in general shows too much.  I've been peeking at dresses online.  Honestly, a lot of the styles they're pushing now look more like sexy nightgowns than bridal gowns.

That's what they look like to me, too.  Brides that choose those dresses usually have the bridesmaids wearing the same style and some mothers of the bride wear the same look.

Even though I couldn't attend nephew's wedding, I'm happy the bride chose a dress that I would approve of--of course I wasn't asked.

Their wedding also looked like they had fun.  My niece's husband did an online ordination so he could marry them.  He was also the flower girl.  He wore a tutu as he tossed flower petals down the aisle.  Then he did a quick change of clothes.

DD's wedding dress had a piece that snapped on so her shoulders were covered in the church during the ceremony.  She then removed that before the reception and it then became a strapless dress.  It wasn't low cut but it was strapless.

I made some M & M cookies last night for our trip to the cabin this weekend.  They are in the freezer for the next couple of days so that I don't eat them all before the trip.

Good Morning Kids!  I don't expect to be here much today, as our computer is misbehaving more by the day.  We've got a good friend who is planning to stop by & see if he can do anything to fix the problems.  It is SO good to have friends who are talented when it comes to tech!

I once totally shocked myself by replacing the hard drive myself and the computer actually worked.

I just gobbled down leftover StoveTop stuffing, for breakfast, I have a doctor appt in 1 hr and need to shower etc. I could do it, maybe, if I knew what I was going to wear and my clothes were ready.
I hate having to leave my house, so I do this every time. Like it's not going to happen, if I'm not ready.

I made it to the doctor on time. As she was about to leave the room (finish the appt, I asked her about the cortisone shot I expected to get in my shoulder and the Covid and RSV vaccines I had asked the front desk to schedule, weeks ago. I also mentioned these 3 things to the physician's assistant who had gone over things with me, before
the doctor came in.

Ugh. The front desk and the PA forgot to mention them to the doctor.

I'm going back Thursday afternoon, for the cortisone shot. The clinic has not received
the vaccinations yet.

I don't know why no one told me that. I'm feeling rather frustrated by availability of medical care in the US, lately.

I'm less than impressed with it, this year.

Yay! I won't be sharing a room with DD2's MIL at Disneyland, after all. I'm really happy about that.

We leave in less than a week. I'm nervous about that!

Good Afternoon Kids!  Well, even though our computer wasn't very old, it was declared "officially" dead, both by our friend and also by the repair shop at the computer store.  So, we bought a more expensive, name-brand computer this time, and we hope it'll last a lot longer than the previous one.

We spent almost the entire day yesterday dealing with trying to get it fixed, so I'm still tired.  It's cloudy here today too, which doesn't help my mood.  Hope that the sailing is smooth for the rest of the week.

Busy with the house and I have to start packing but the brain just won't connect or commit to it, but I AM doing some packing today for sure. I have to head to the shore house tomorrow and I want the car loaded with filled boxes. I am still spending money like a drunk sailor but I hope the bleeding will stop really soon.

We have finally started the cool down. 50s today! Yay! Mid to upper 70s this weekend but cooling back down to the 50s and 60s by next week. No more 80s! WooHoo!
