I broke down this morning and turned the heat on and am glad I did. The extra blanket is definitely going on the bed this weekend. I turned my a/c off this morning. 😊

Good Morning Kids! I got a phone call from DD this morning, a quick one. I had to laugh when she told me they'd eaten at Tim Hortons several times. Apparently, the coffee IS that good. It's gloomy here today. I'll be mostly hanging around the house, waiting for the handyman, since he hasn't yet messaged me on what time he'll arrive. Yesterday was gloomy here. I kept expecting a downpour. Finally, late in the afternoon, a few sprinkles came down. By no means would I call it a downpour. Just a light sprinkle. This morning was cooler, but not cold. I may have over dressed.

It's gloomy and foggy here. I can't believe how dark it was at my usual wake up time. Winter is coming.

We got a very light sprinkle this morning. But we still need a lot more rain. The handyman is here right now, so I made Speedy go outside. That dog goes crazy when a stranger is in the house, unless he senses they're a dog person.

Peeps! It's only in the high 80s here. Practically a fall day (I wish). But the humidity is turning down a bit. We expect rain this weekend; I do race Sunday, so some cloud cover would be welcome. Saw the family last week for brunch; wedding plans are moving forward. Small-ish event (60 people), and I like five of her six wedding dress picks; I don't hate the sixth one, but it's the nude lace look, and I think it's just not right for a wedding. I plan to host a family dinner at a local brewery two nights before the wedding (no sense in overly hungover guests for the main event) and overall, I think it will be great.

I threw an extra blanket on top of the bed last night and slept so well. Definitely putting the extra blanket on today when I change the sheets.
Today I'm going to begin the pool shut down process even if DSIL isn't able to help me complete it. I have to get in the pool one last time to remove the skimmer for the winter and without any heat it is cold, cold, cold. The kids are coming over when DSIL gets off work, he is hoping late afternoon, to watch some football and celebrate my birthday. My birthday was actually earlier in the week but DD is going to get pizza. I won't have to cook so I'm happy. I do have to make my own cake though . I love red velvet cake with the traditional butter cream frosting and for some reason DD is intimidated by that cake. She is an excellent cook, way better than I am and tries new recipes all the time, but for some reason won't make a red velvet cake.

Butter cream (choc or vanilla) is the only kind of frosting that I like. Those cans you can buy at the store, are terrible, I think. Good luck with your pool and enjoy your pizza. >Now I want pizza! Stuffed crust, plain cheese, please. 🥳🥳🥳 🍕

Well of course, just when I let Lola outside, the rain came pouring down. Looks like it'll be a quick downpour, but now I've got the lovely smell of "wet dog" in the house.

Haha My DD2 has mentioned several times, that her English (? The smaller breed) Bulldogs stink (like dogs). I've never really noticed. Not even when I first walk in their house. Yesterday, when I was petting one of them, I noticed/thought his fur/skin felt kind of oily. I've never noticed that on a dog before. But that probably has something to do with the odor she smells. They are such well mannered dogs and they're really cute/fun to watch play. But now I don't want to pet them very much. Which is sad, because they love to snuggle and be loved on. ♡ They're just such massive dogs. 😳

It's just after midnight and I just started doing my laundry. (I have a lot to do.) I don't want to rush into it. 😄

Ouchy Sunday, peeps. This race hurt. My left leg is tight and painful -- I did get home, shower, and get some food and pain meds in. I am applying heat and ice, as ordered by the nice folks who did post-race massage (the young man who helped me said the leg muscle was severely tight.) Nothing swollen or broken, fortunately. The heat and ice are helping. Dishwasher is running, back yard is mowed and I will do laundry later. I do need to get up and move around some to keep the muscles moving.

The food looks fabulous.
Try drinking an electrolyte drink, Pedialyte or Gatorade for your leg. An Epsom salt bath can help too.

I did take a new beverage with me, but drank very little of it (not a fan of the taste), but I will get it out of the fridge and get a lot of ice in it.

I worked on the pool all day today but finally late afternoon got it tarped so it won't be filling up with leaves. It took me hours and hours, with a foot pump, to blow up the big pillows that go under the tarp. That way the rain/snow will run off and not weigh the tarp down. All that is left is for DSIL to come over and remove the hoses and drain the filter for the winter. He cranks those hoses on good and tight so there won't be any leaks.
Yesterday I got in the pool for about 15 minutes to get the skimmer pulled out and darn near got hypothermia. Even after a hot shower I still felt chilled the rest of the day. We had a good birthday party last night. DD got pizza and also made a tossed salad. Then we also had cake and ice cream. They got me a weather station for my birthday and it is so cool. It has a nice display that sits on my desk and now I can see the wind speed and direction. Temps inside and outside, plus barometric pressure. DSIL installed the outside part last night.

Good Evening Kids! I've kept busy most of the day, and can't believe it's already 10 pm. Gotta get the house back in good order. DD's flight is supposed to bring her back home tomorrow night. NancysSummerSip, you're not allowed to hurt yourself. Wishing you a speedy recovery, and I hope your DH spoils you in the meantime.

We got one of those localized every rain storms yesterday. Got over 2 inches of rain in about 30 minutes. Sump pump is still running.

Hiya peeps! I am off today for the holiday - not that I am especially religious, but I have never worked on Yom Kippur. This is also my third day off this year (yes, you read that right). I was off for my one-day hospital stay for pleurisy, then one day for a colonoscopy.
Leg feels tight, but better. No swelling or bruising. I am taking extra zinc, magnesium, vitamin C and drinking green tea. I did not fall asleep easily last night; it took awhile to get into a comfortable position.
I am still using heat and ice and stretching.

And from the "and you thought your day was bad" files... My very nice neighbors (the new ones who moved in behind us) have a tarp on their roof. Aw, heck no. These people deserve better than a leak in their roof.
They have put in a lot of time and effort pretty-ing up the place. But that roof is likely original to the house, so it is over 30 years old. I have been in my house 35 years, and never seen a new roof put up on it. I don't know if the former owners disclosed that fact, and if the new owners paid full price cash, they are not required to have homeowner's insurance. And they would have been denied the insurance for a roof that old, anyway. We had to re-roof when ours hit 25 years, or insurance would have dropped us. Oh, well. I guess they have a new next project.

That would suck! If all the work done inside, gets ruined, because of roof leak and has to be done again. I moved into an "apt"/converted old house, years ago. I didn't know it had a slumlord. Right after moving in, they started replacing the roof. 2 days later it started raining hard, for days. Most of my stuff was in the sunroom. I noticed a lot of water coming in, to my sunroom. When I called the landlord, he couldn't care less. Said he couldn't force them to work on the roof, in the rain. -If I knew then, what I know now. He used intimidation, to get out of everything. He didn't have property insurance, on the place! I ended up suing him, after I slipped and fell on ice (ruptured an implant). He was a piece of work! What an ass hat! Then, he tried to get me to stay. NOPE!

My insurance agent told me that the provider for my homeowner's insurance won't insure if my roof is over 15 years old but she can move me to one who will insure for 25 years when I reach that point. That is 2 years.

Good Evening Kids! We've had heavy rain off & on all day. We've got a new swamp behind our property that magically popped up. Poor DH was just now taking one of the dogs outside, and got drenched with another sudden downpour. It's been another weird weather day.
On the positive side, the airplane DD took home landed safely this evening. I'm sure she's exhausted, but I'll talk with her later this week to find out about her trip.

I am thinking of SO mmany little things, that I need, or would be helpful, when I go to California, on the 9th. A lot of them ar things I have owned i the past, then gave them away, because I don't travel often and I don't have room to store/keep everything, just in case. Things like a luggage tag, that will make my suitcase stand out on the carousel, for pick up. I'm borrowing a suitcase, so it isn't something I'll recognize, as it approaches. I'm kind of hoping that we get one of those ride on carts, in the airports. me and my grands can ride on it, I hope. Even if we walked slow, Id struggle, walking from the entrance to the gate and I think the 3 and 5 yr old would too. I'm not sure if it would be hard for his mom. She is about 10 yrs younger than I am, but I think she has had both of her knees replaced. One of them she's had done twice. But I don't think they plan on getting a mobility scooter for her, like they do me. There are so many unknowns, it makes it hard to plan. But for the most part, I'll just follow along and try to be agreeable. Or at least that is my plan.
I have only been to Disneyland once in my life and that was 44 years ago! If anyone has any suggestions, about traveling,or Disneyland, I'd very much like to hear them! - The last time I traveled anywhere, was 5-6 years ago, to Seattle.
DD1, who was a flight attendant for 16-17 yrs, said she will come over and help me pack.
How much does a nice Disneyland t-shirt, or Sweatshirt go for these days? Any idea? I'm pretty sure that's one thing I'm going to want, since I probably won't be going back again And this may be my last travel adventure.

toomuchreality I made a pom pom with yarn to identify my luggage. If you have some type of ribbon you could tie that on to the suitcase for identification. I had the grands last night for a while, including dinner. It was back to school night for the parents. I was still so tired for my Sunday adventures I was glad it was a short evening.

We had that rain on and off yesterday, too. My usual lake it in the backyard and sump pump is running. I have not flown now for 5 or 6 years. So I can help with advice. I was last in Disneyland in 1968 so I officially know nothing about current day Disneyland. It's been a while since I was at Disney World and I know sweatshirts were expensive. They make nice souvenirs. You could buy mouse ears. Everything Disney is expensive--even the food.
