I just got a call from my doctor's office. The heart monitor I wore for 24 hours, thinking it had been no help, recorded 44 episodes of A-FIB during that time! 😳 YIKES. Yikes indeed. Keep us posted on your progress. I think medicine is getting better at managing A-FIB.

Good Evening Kids! It's been a full day, starting with taking Lola in to get her nails trimmed (at least she doesn't go crazy when going to the "doggie salon"). I had a long list of other things to get done, so it's amazing to me that pretty soon it'll be time for the 10 pm news. But, it does explain why I'm so tired...

My neighbor had brought me a bunch of fresh corn. Last night I blanched 24 ears, cut it off the cob and put it into the freezer for this winter. It tastes so good.

Gotta love patriarchal old men I ran into one of my grumpy old men neighbors at the drs today. The other grumpy old man had told him all about how the tree guys cut my sprinkler system and did damage to my yard. He was asking me about it and then suggested that my Son (I think he was referring to DSIL) could take them to court for me. I guess I'm not capable of pursuing this myself. Basically I have no interest in engaging with the tree company to get them to pay for the damage. I'm just now beginning to come out of the funk I have been in for months and I don't need the stress. I can afford to have someone fix it for me. Should the tree company pay for the damage, yes, but at this moment I don't care. My irrigation guys will fix it and life will move on.

Good Evening Kids! Still too much to do, and not enough daylight to get it all done, not even in Summer. Oh well...
We haven't had any corn on the cob yet this season, not that we don't love it, but the price is still too high for me. Doggone budget. Maybe we'll get some around Labor day.

I had my first appointment today, with my new therapist. She seems nice enough. At the end of my appt, she told me my assignment for the week, was to decide what I want to get out of my therapy sessions. What my goal is. Good question. I don't know. I do know, I don't want to talk about the weather. Which I've done a lot of, in the past and why I quit going to therapy.
I'll have to give this some thought.

My day started off just a little too exciting for my taste. I had gotten up and gotten my wake up Diet Pepsi and was just sitting down at the computer when I could hear the cat in the living room falling around on the floor. My fear was she was having a stroke or seizure. That's what happened with my last cat. No she was trying to run on the wood floors and couldn't get traction. She kept looking under the piano and under this other piece of furniture. I looked down the wall along behind the furniture and there was a mouse behind the piano. I decided to ignore him until I was more awake. Finally after my shower when I was more coherent and ready to do some mouse wrangling I heard him in the closet where the hot water heater is located. I pounded on the doors a few times. Finally I gave the doors a really long hard pounding and I haven't heard or seen him since. He probably went back under the house. I guess I should find some traps and get them set. Mid day I took some time from work and went and watched them burn some of the fields up by DD's house. Field burning used to be a big thing all over the state but after a really bad accident, with multiple fatalities, on I-5 many years ago there were a lot of restrictions placed on the total acreage that could be burned etc. I have seen the huge plumes of smoke in the summer my whole life but have never actually seen a field burning. DSIL told us where we could go sit in the car that was a safe place that wouldn't interfere with what they were doing and watch. It's amazing how little time it actually takes, the flames don't really get tall at all but it sure makes a ton of smoke. The whole process was very interesting and could I watched longer but I needed to get back to work and the kids were starting to get whiny wanting lunch.
The farmers, and science backs them up, say that field burning is more effective for getting rid of pests and sanitizing the fields for the next year then chemicals ever will be. It's also cheaper and faster.

The last time I stayed at our family cabin, my brother and I went for a ride on his 4 wheeler. I pointed out a place that was burning. He said it was a controlled burn, so nothing to worry about. But I didn't see anyone else around and no vehicles or anything, so I worried. The area is surrounded by US National Forest and mountains on 3 sides, and lots of cabins (not super close to each other, but in the area), so if a fire gets out of control, there would be a LOT of damage. Scary.

I got my gift wrapped and clothes ready, to dress in the morning. Most everything I'll need is ready to go, so I can leave quickly to pick up my Son in law this morning. We're going to dinner this evening, for DD1's birthday, so I'm taking all that stuff too. As well as things for my grands and lunch. It's a lot.
I should be sleeping.
Enjoy your day!

Good Morning Kids! We're doing a road trip and taking a long weekend to do it. It'll be good to get out of town for a bit, and we'll find out if the air is better further south. If I'm not on here, don't worry, we'll be back sometime on Sunday, so stay out of mischief!

I didn't fall asleep until after 1 this morning and was up about 5:40!!!!!
It's been busy, I wrote down the list in the WIRR area for what my first week of being a house owner has been like.
But I have managed to fix tuna for sandwiches this morning along with picking things up here and getting shredding done along with groceries! All before 11AM.
I am going to pick at things some more tonight and tomorrow. I am still looking for some paperwork that I saw earlier this summer which has magically disappeared.

Peeps! Hello! I worked hard for the money this week, I dare say.
Spent this evening weeding the backyard and washing/waxing the kitchen and dining room floors. They look fab, but I am pooped. I am having a brownie to revive myself.

Hi Kids! Greetings to you all from IA! The traffic, no thanks to highway construction was brutal, so it took a lot longer to reach our destination than it should have. At least the driving weather was good (no rain), and I'm just going to relax & read a book at the hotel tonight.

Ew. When I was driving home tonight, about 10:15PM,I ran over something rather large, laying on the highway. I don't know what it was, but I can't get the thought that it felt like a body, in a bag, out of my head. Yuck. (Not that I know what that feels like.)
I wasn't the only one that ran over it.
I called the police and reported it, as soon as I got home. I hope it was nothing serious.
Have a great weekend! ♡

I'd rather it was a deer carcass, than a human. But I don't think it's hunting season here, yet (I don't hunt.) and it would have had to have fallen from a truck, or something. Which is possible. But in the middle of a big city, seems odd. It just gave me the heebie jeebies again, thinking about it. Complete with a big shudder.

Well, if it was already laying in the road, it really isn't your fault. It could be a lot of things really. Good Morning Kids! Our hotel is in a small farming community. It's a very nice, clean place, but the train runs through town, and one woke us up blowing on the horn around 5 am. I didn't sleep well last night anyway, probably because the bed is too soft for me. Oh well...

Good Morning. We got some rain overnight. It wasn't a lot but enough to wet everything down. They kept saying no rain for us yesterday but I could smell it in the air just before I went to bed. One more week of work and then it will be vacation time for me.

Oh well... So if you are in a small farming community, are you in a hotel or motel? If you listen to my sister, she only stays in motels. That mostly means she and hubby stay in cheap dumps. I was so happy when my hometown finally got a Marriott. I was driving another 40 miles to stay in a Hampton Inn because I wouldn't stay in those dumps. The first couple of months I lived here, trains drove me crazy. Now I don't hear them. I never thought when people said that, it was true. There is a beautiful old historical hotel in downtown Dubuque that overlooks the train yards. In reviews on Travel Advisor, people say that it's great hotel except for the train yard. I don't even hear the trains. Enjoy your time in this state.

I think this place qualifies as a hotel, but it's a no-name place. Very clean, hot breakfast in the morning, but in a small town. But, I like small towns TheOtherMe, so no worries. Both of my parents were raised in small towns, but due to Dad looking for a better job, I ended up being a city girl. I like just driving around & enjoying the scenery. It's sunny now, but there are storms coming in, so prayers & positive thoughts are appreciated for the drive home tomorrow. We're taking a different route home, to try & avoid the road construction we dealt with on the way here.

I rewarded myself with a nice afternoon today. I had errands to run, but phoned a friend and we met for lunch first. I needed to do this, as I am forgetting how to interact with humans.
I finished with the vacuum and the living room/bedroom rugs, and the dishwasher is now running. I will go out shortly and mow the front lawn and maybe tackle a bit of the side yard weeds. Dinner is cauliflower crust pepperoni pizza.

Yes, busymom I am seeing that it is supposed to rain this evening and in to tomorrow. That means the toddler will be stuck in Grandma's house tomorrow and that is not good.

DD called and invited me to go with them to the local parade this evening. The parade was the kickoff for the county fair. I couldn't believe this size town could put on parade of that size. It went for 2 hours and there were very few gaps between the entries. All of the entries had candy, lots and lots of candy. I was surprised when DGS1 got out of the car with a bucket for candy. The kid knew what he was doing. They filled that bucket heaping full at least two times. There were over 100 entries and a lot of the entries had more than one vehicle, such as the car clubs and every tractor store had multiple tractors in the parade. It was a good parade and the kids had a ball. DGS2 ate his weight in candy and was thrilled to death that the parade had a bus. It was a beautiful evening to sit out and watch a parade. Over here a lot of things happen in the evenings so the farmers can also attend. All the farmers markets start late afternoon, the parades are in the evening etc.

Maybe. I was thinking a deer ran into the road and got hit by a truck. The police came to my door this evening (the 1st and only time, they have ever knocked on my door, in my whole life). Of course, my mind immediately went to whatever it was that I ran over, because there's no other reason for them to be there... Nope. Someone called and asked them to do a welfare check, because they'd heard me talking to my neighbors and saw my neighbors help me bring my groceries up, from my car. I don't know why they assumed by that, I'd been hurt. But they did. Or maybe they were trying to cause one of my neighbors grief. I don't know. We had been talking outside, in the breeze way and there was no disagreement or anything suspicious. And it was nice of my neighbors to help me with my groceries. So, it beats me. I did mention that I'd run over something last night, to the officers. They didn't know what it was, but they assured me it wasn't a body, because they would have heard something about it. And because I haven't been contacted by the police, for more information/details, about what I ran over. I offered them a can of soda, or a bottle of juice, then they left. Weird, that they came to my door today. The very first day after I ran over the item. But I feel better about it now. So that's a good thing. (Because whatever it was, was inside a large bag that was closed at the top, the idea of an animal getting hit by a vehicle there, didn't cross my mind.)
