It must be nice to have musical people in the family. We have none. Nobody sings, dances or plays an instrument. We cannot (and should not) even sing in the shower our our cars with the windows closed.

I finished a big shred project and got a stack of stuff to pay for next. Time to write checks and give away money.

OMG- a guy I knew when I was I Jr High (he was 28), just contacted me on FB messenger! He wanted me to friend him and to meet up with him! I said no to all his requests. It just feels weird for him to still be interested in me. It was weird for him to be interested in me, when I was in 7th or 8th grade! How old is a 7th grader? I'm glad I said no and didn't make any excuses. Then I had some missionaries come to my door. That was weird too. I felt bad, because it's so cold outside, but I didn't invite them in. But they weren't quick to leave. I'm not in the mood for people today. I just want to sleep. Hopefully, I will get some chores done. Sharon, I'm glad you found a piece of furniture, that will work for your CDs. I have a ton of CDs. I listen to them sometimes in my car. Sometimes on my computer.

I have fond memories of my mom's family gathering around the player piano at my grandparent's house and everybody singing. Of course as a kid, I thought I sang just fine. It was so much fun. When grandpa died, the player piano was sold to a bar in Des Moines. I would guess it's gone to a a long time ago.

toomuchrealityI once let Mormon missionaries in when I lived in the Colorado mountains. It was snowing and cold. That was a huge mistake and after that, I have never let any kind of missionary in my house and I don't feel the least bit bad about it.

Since they stayed so long, with my door barely cracked open wide enough for my nose and one eye to show, I hate to think how long they'd have stayed, if I'd invited them in. Plus I'm already Mormon. Weird.

Wednesday evening when DD2 and her husband brought the rug a chairs to my apt, with their 2 girls, was the first time they've been to my place, in many years. Friday morning, I told DGD1 how nice it was to have them come to my apt. Her eyes got big and she said, "Grandma, your apt is SO little!" I was not offended. I agreed with her, that it is. Their house is over 3,000 sq ft. My apt is 460 sq ft. The innocence of children. Haha

I did a run this morning, then back for blueberry pancakes. Running a last load of laundry for the weekend and I did wash the floors. And made myself some iced tea as a reward.

I was without internet all afternoon, finally drove into town so I could get enough internet to contact Spectrum. It was just me. They did some stuff on their end, then I came home and reset everything again and internet finally came back. Whew.

Good Afternoon Kids! I won't be posting much between now & Easter Sunday, as dinner will be at our place, and I've got a crazy amount of stuff to get done between now and then.
To add to the "fun", Lola is in heat right now. She is confined to the kitchen, because yes, she is spotting blood on the floor. So, these days I feel like I'm nothing but the cleaning lady.

Mom and I are supposed to spend Easter at the cabin along the river that we like to rent a couple times a year. We are having a lot of late season snow this winter and I'm concerned about getting up over the pass to get there. We usually also go later in April.

Good Morning Kids! Between all of the snow we got this Winter, and colder than average temps, I expect we'll still have snow on the ground for Easter Sunday too. At least it's been melting some, but we've got a long ways to go.

Today I moved out planned trip for Easter weekend to next October. Mom and I usually go to the cabin on the river in April and October. I hadn't made the reservation for October yet and by moving this one it was only a $50 surcharge vs a charge of half the amount for a cancellation less than 14 days before checkin. Yesterday the mountain pass was closed for a while because of an avalanche. Instead I got us a suite at the coast. It is ocean front with a balcony. We've stayed there before and they are nice rooms. Our room also has a gas fireplace and the hotel has a pool.
Today I did a major grocery shopping. After cleaning the fridge yesterday to get ready for garbage day today the fridge was pretty bare.

It's still snowing in my area and not slowing down much. Last Friday we reached a record high for the amount of snow. One of the big hotels downtown, has put up a huge vertical number sign on the side of their bldg, to mark the current number of feet of snow we've received. And the weather peeps are predicting more is on the way. I'm so over it.

Good Evening Kids! The next few days could be lousy here. We're either going to get a last heaping of snow, or rain, or some of both. Plus, it's very cold for this time of the year, so the snow that's already on the ground isn't disappearing right now. I am SO over Winter. It isn't just the snow that needs to melt, I need a good thaw too. My joints have stiffened up with this last cold snap.

Good Afternoon Kids! I had some surprisingly good news from my dermatologist. She said my skin is in better condition than last year. I have been using more skin care products, some of them a bit pricey, but if that's what she's seeing, I'll keep it up. And here I thought I was getting scary looking with age. Who knew? We're still waiting for the rain/snow/whatever to arrive. It's bound to arrive fairly soon...

We are supposed to get severe thunderstorms or possible tornadoes tomorrow afternoon.
It's serious enough that the watch party at the University of Iowa for the women's basketball team in the Final Four has been canceled.

It's been snowing and really cold all day. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse. One day this weekend is supposed to get a little better (rain instead of snow, with a high of maybe 40°), then back to snow next week.
Oh, yay.

I'm really debating going to DD2's today. This is a day I normally would be there, but the cousins have been there all week, so I haven't gone.
Last night, when she told me they'd be there again today,I asked how it has been going. She said it's been great, because they play and don't interrupt her as much. I understand how that can be true, to some degree. But I guarantee none of those kids are cleaning up after themselves, or each other. They're not doing dishes, or laundry, or planning and making lunch for everyone, while they are keeping the younger ones entertained, like I'm expected to do. Nor are they able to babysit the 5 little ones for hours, while the parents go shopping, get massages, get their hair done (4hrs min), or go to various appointments. And take care of 2 English Bulldog puppies that are huge and untrained. So I'm a bit offended, by her comment. As if a 9-10 yr old, do a better job than I do.
I have cute kid size wheelbarrows, I bought for the girls for Easter. I was going to let DD2 use them as Easter baskets, but she hasn't mentioned interest in them, since I offered them to her. So instead of taking them out today, for her to decide if she wants to use them, maybe I'll just put a few Easter items in them, and drop them off on Sunday, and let them be from me. This will probably get me in trouble, or it will make me feel bad, because their other g-parents will get them something bigger/better.
Normally, we get together and color eggs too. I mentioned it a few weeks ago and my daughters said yes, they wanted to, so I bought the supplies. But nothing has been mentioned about it since. Except when DGD1 saw the Egg decorating supplies, a few days ago and was promised we'd make them.
I feel so unappreciated and cared about. Despite my efforts. Perhaps I won't bother with any of it. But all of this isn't the fault of my DGDs.
What would you do, in this situation?

I'd probably make myself a little less available, toomuchreality, as it sounds like they're not appreciating your efforts. I can't remember EVER being away from my kids for 4 hours at a time while doing errands, getting haircuts, or whatever. Might be time for you to start being unavailable for a few days each week.

Thanks for your reply. I agree. What would you do about the Easter stuff? I don't want to color eggs with the cousins, as the only adult. I wouldn't want to do it with the cousins, if other adults were involved. I don't like the cousins.

Can you invite the kids to your place, toomuchreality, WITHOUT the cousins? No. If I want to see the kids, I have to go to their house. For real. They came to my place for the 1st time ever, a few days ago, when their parents dropped off the chairs and rug. They get to go to his mom's house and to DD2s dad's house though. I have no idea why. I was told everyone was given that condition. But it's obviously not true, since they go to their other grandparents houses all the time. Then DD2 blames me, that they don't visit me,or come to my house. It's a "Fd" up situation. Especially considering they say I'm their favorite and the only one they don't have problems with. ETA For the first time ever, I told Dd2 I don't want to talk to her anymore, right now. We had an brief argument. I don't like to argue and she argues like her dad, to the death. I'm not sure if I want to care for her children for her any more. - I love her and her kids kids, but have had enough of her attitude towards me lately. It would make me sad. But I'm sad now, putting up with her "Princessness". I think I'll just drop the girls wheelbarrows off on their porch on Sunday, and leave. No need to stay. Not sure what will happen on Monday, when I'm supposed to babysit next.

Stopped at Politics first, to add my happy $0.02 to the Arrest Circus thread. I do have a swim meet this weekend, but will stop by afterwards both days.. And it is official at Midnight -- I am on Medicare. I think that makes me officially Old.
