What are the current issues with the military cemetery? It's a long story, but the burial there was set up years ago. Then this week I found out they lost all of the paperwork. Everything. And, resubmitting the old paperwork, which I still have, isn't good enough. I have to start from scratch. Please pray I can provide them with everything they need. Thankful I hang onto anything that might be important, but dang, I am SO mad right now I could burst into flames... Ugh. What a nightmare. Especially at a time that isn't particularly happy, to begin with. When my dad died, the mortuary had lost the paperwork for his prepayment and purchase of his plot, also. But my sister took care of everything, so I don't know any of the details. I just know my sister was not happy, in the least, to have to deal with it. Good luck.

Well, it's not looking like anything is going to get resolved this week. The gov't doesn't work on weekends, and I need some doctor paperwork, so I'm just gonna have to try not to stress out until everyone gets what they need. I can hear my relatives who served in the armed forces rolling in their graves from here...

It makes me angry on behalf of your loved who served his country and all others who have served their country.

Oh, you don't know the half of it. My Dad told me NOT to join the military. #1, the lack of respect for women, and #2 they don't keep their promises on benefits. He was proud to serve his country when they needed him, but you sure as heck don't do it for the benefits. You need to fight to get them, IF you get them...

Well, Kids, I got "that" phone call today. My relative died, and no one saw it coming so quickly. I did race down there, and helped clean out his room, and waited with him until the funeral home came to pick him up. This week is going to be about working with the funeral home, and hoping the wait isn't long to get him into the military cemetery. and to you for dealing with all that goes with the situation.

I am back from day 1 of the meet. Low attendance for this long-course meet, but most people hate 50-meter pools, I guess. I am tired even without relays. Dinner is cheese ravioli for DH and a big protein-topped salad for me.

Good Afternoon Kids! I've actually managed to make a bit of progress today. Doctor is working with me today (on a Saturday!), and the funeral home is working, too. Hopefully Monday the cemetery will begin to work with us once again with a fresh inflow of paperwork.

Cheese ravioli sounds really good to me. Yum.

Is it paperwork, that you are working on/they are helping you with? I wish this would be easier for you.

Cheese ravioli sounds really good to me. Yum. I did not get any, but DH did eat most of it, which is good. His appetite is all over the place. I did freeze the extra for another meal. I am stopping at Walmart on the way home from Meet day 2, so I may pick up from fried rice from the freezer case and add chicken or pork as dinner tomorrow.

So thankful they're at least trying to be helpful. Wouldn't have gotten a doctor's help this quickly in Florida. I remember trying to get DS set up for Special Olympics (you just need a short form filled out to compete) and it took weeks! Folks are more helpful around here. Usually.

I'm back and got to leave about the time I wanted to today due a mouse. The cabin we stayed in was having a mouse issue. They set up a live trap Friday afternoon. That night we had barely gone to bed when I could heard a mouse trying to scratch it's way out. That went on all night, I couldn't sleep at all, but Mom seemed to sleep through it. I was afraid to try and move the trap because he said the top was spring loaded and I didn't want it to pop open and the mouse escape. It was one of those traps where they go in but can't get back out but their friends are also free to join them. When they checked the trap on Saturday morning there were 3 mice inside.
They rebaited the trap and put it back under the chair. Once again shortly after bedtime I hear a mouse trying to scratch it's way out. About 4am I can hear my Mom up moving things around and fussing. I get up and she thought the mouse was in her room so she was trying to find it and shoo it out. Her dementia is getting worse so even though I told her at least 5 times she couldn't remember that they had rebaited the trap. She asked if I wanted to leave and I jumped at the chance and said yes. We hit the road about 5:15am. Previously when I suggested leaving at 6am she had a fit and said maybe 7am. When I got the opportunity to leave extra early I was thrilled. Because of that I got home about 2pm instead of the 4 or 5pm I expected. I will save the whole saga of getting Mom in and out of the lake so she could go swimming for another time. Needless to say I'm very tired and plan on a quiet evening and an early bedtime.

Sorry for the mice issue, but glad you got to leave and get home early!

Good Morning Kids! This day is starting off great! My relative's paperwork is accepted, and he'll go into the military cemetery in the Fall. The funeral director was so happy that he called instead of emailing me. What a mess this has been! I'm thanking God, and all of you here for your prayers & positive thoughts! Sharon, I'm so sorry about your weekend. Is it safe for your Mom to be living alone? If her decline is rapid, it may be time to get social services involved.

Busy, does that mean there will be no service until fall?

Busy, does that mean there will be no service until fall? Correct. I'm so glad he chose cremation, because I don't like the idea of a body going into storage, although it has certainly been done. Just a side note, but I had a relative who died in a very small town, way out in the country, and his body had to be stored until the ground thawed enough that he could be buried in the Spring. Nope, not going through all of that. It's too difficult to postpone for that long. His poor wife was crying at the grave, months later, like he had just died. It's just too hard on the heart.

That sounds terrible.
Mom's funeral was a week after her death and we were told if it was any longer than that, the body would have to go to storage. I didn't know that is what it meant.
Since I'm being cremated, if they have to wait until spring, that can easily be done.

busymom I am glad the paperwork was accepted. My parents were cremated and buried at a military cemetery. When my mother died, we had to wait about 3 weeks before she could be interred. My father died in early April. Knowing we would have to wait we decided to pick there 60th (July 1) anniversary to have my dad interred. When DF's mother passed away, they had to over a week to schedule the funeral since so she was kept on ice.
