Good luck with your race, NancysSummerSip! And, thanks for serving up all of the yummy food. After so long without having any company over, no thanks to Covid, I was enjoying myself today, until our guest told us they might have shingles.

Not to worry. Shingles isn't contagious unless you've never had chicken pox. If that's the case, you can catch chicken pox from somebody who has shingles.

Well, the kids were here too during the visit. They've never had chicken pox, but they've both been vaccinated against it. I just don't want shingles, and neither DH nor I have gotten the shingles vaccine. We may need to rethink that...

busymom Chicken pox vaccine in kids also protects against shingles. However...if you haven't had the shingles vaccine, boogie right on over to your friendly neighborhood doc and get it! Shingles isn't anything you want to get, believe me.

Hello peeps! Back from my race and thought a few pre-BBQ snacks would tide us over to the big event later.

I had no idea there would be hills in this race...OK elevation changes to most of you. Eight of them. In a 5K. Glad I practiced on the drawbridges. I got home and I am doing the last laundry load. Swept and vacuumed the floors. Plan to wash the car later if it does not rain.

For y'all, they are called mere bumps in the road. I should have known something was up when the starting line was uphill. First time I've done an uphill start. AND an uphill finish. A good way to end the season, though. Next race is a 10K at Cape Canaveral in September. Surgeon says I should be fine for that.

Wonder if it left Yellowstone and decided to hang out here for awhile I cannot make this up: a pack of wolves escaped a nature center in our county this weekend. Of course, DH & I find out about this AFTER we got back from a long walk. There are a lot of wooded areas in our county, including within walking distance of us, so they have a lot of places to hide.

As much as I love animals, a pack of wolves roaming around would make me very nervous. Hope they are rounded up and taken back to the nature center soon.
In the meantime, be careful and stay safe!

Good Morning Kids! Sadly, one member of the escaped wolf pack got hit by a car, so that one died, and there are still 3 on the loose. The nature center claims they aren't "dangerous", yet you have to be careful if you have any small pets, as these wolves never lived in the wild. After these few days they've been loose, I'll bet they're getting hungry...

Good Morning Kids! Had to take Speedy to the vet this morning. He's been absolutely miserable the last couple of days, chewing & scratching his low back, to the point that his fur was coming out, so I got him in as quickly as I could (would've had him in yesterday, but they were booked up). Anyway, they had to shave his corgi butt (poor baby!) because he had a "hot spot" from scratching, and he's got allergies. Plus, he'll be on medication for the next 10 days to make sure the scratched area doesn't get infected. He'll look a bit strange until the fur grows back, but I'm relieved it's not fleas/ticks/mange...

Good Afternoon Kids! DH & I worked on the garden/planter box last evening, during the cooler temps. It's getting very humid & hot here today, along with poor air quality, so I'll be exercising indoors. But, we'll be watering the garden this evening to help it get through the current heat wave.

I feel bad for Speedy. He wouldn't stop biting/scratching his low back, so we had to purchase a "cone of shame" to put on him, because we don't want him getting an infection. The look he's giving me as he's laying on the floor right now absolutely would make anyone feel guilty.

They are so good at making you feel guilty when the cone of shame must be worn.
Don't give in. You know it's for his own good.

Poor guy, he must be miserable...

Hello Peeps! busymom, I am glad it is not fleas. My cat went through that. Awful stuff. Three months of meds. Well, I am hitting the home stretch of pre-op. I have to ask, is there anything more frustrating than one doctor's office not communicating with another doctor's office? I have to beg and plead for paperwork to be sent to the surgeon from my PCP. How hard is this? It's all electronic now; not like someone standing over a paper-feed fax machine. I deal with papers all day and the federal government. I get it. But surgery is next week, and I am going to be on that table.

He DID get an antibiotic, to prevent infection, and Prednisone, but the itch must be driving him crazy, because he just won't leave it alone. Before we got the vet appointment, I read online that sometimes putting a bit of olive oil on the area helps with itching, and it did help.

Really sorry Speedy is having such a hard time busymom. Hopefully, the Prednisone will kick in soon and help him. Has never failed to relieve itching around here. Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better

The vet asked me not to start him on the Benedryl until his medication is all taken. He's got pills to take for 10 days. Then, it'll probably be Benedryl every year. I can't believe how much he ripped up his back in just a couple of days...

My pibble gets it twice a day. He's miserable without it. And fish oil. Chiver recommended some that works well for her dogs. I've ordered it from Chewy and am going to try it. I'm hoping it works better then what he's currently getting. But the Benadryl, its like a miracle drug Costco sells big bottles really inexpensively.

I knew I was tired all day today but didn't realize just how tired I was. Finished up work about 2:30 and was still fighting sleepiness so about 3:30 decided to take a nap. Woke up about 5:30 and thought I will lay here a few more minutes, next thing I know it's 7:45. It is now 9:30 and getting ready to head back to bed.
