So after the craziness of BF at CVS I went back to my normal shopping at Shoprite. They had a great sale on solo plates and cups. Thanks to Dogmom I got 32 packs of plates, cups and bowls for 0.26 cents each.

rubyslippers: Re Kohl's: if you have a Kohl's cc, they will send you the discount cards in the mail. Read the fine print because the one with the higher discount (15%, 20% or 30%--what you get is random) you have to use with your Kohl's cc. They also usually send a 15% off any day discount card (there is a time period, though, like Nov.28-Dec 8th). That one does not require using a Kohl's card.
Thus, if you have $60 worth of stuff, they would: 1. Take $10 off $30 purchase = $50 2. Take 15% off purchase = $42.50 3. Take $30 off for your Kohl's cash = $12.50 + tax oop for you
Atleast that's how they do it at my Kohl's. If your purchase before q's was closer to $50, your oop would be even less.
We did 2 transactions like this on BF (didn't get to store until 11 am--I'm not a BF person at all ;D). My totals were @ $52 each. I used the two $50 gift cards I'd purchased at Safeway (to get the $15 cat discount oyno). Each transaction also gave me a $15 Kohl's cash certificate. So, in my mind, I paid $100 for the gift cards, but got $45 back for future purchases.

Re food prices: I can't believe how they have skyrocketed. Cherrypicking w/q's has become a real necessity, as well as getting creative in the kitchen! Our Nov/Dec costs a typically higher because of the holidays and guests. Our kids usually bring a friend or someone by and they are usually pretty hungry! A home cooked meal is a treat for them and boy, some of them can eat! DS will be home for almost a month Dec/Jan so I'm trying to prepare! I did get the Target redcard. They have some really good grocery prices when combined with their q's and man q's. A 5% discount on the total can add up. And they still give the .05 per reusable bag--even though I sometimes have to remind them-nicely, of course. You can't help but notice the person ahead of you checking out at Safeway/Raleys/Target. Some of their grocery totals just floor me--$200 per week on up. I'm always giving folks some q's to use and they usually respond with a thank you and a "I wish I had time to clip those". Even at my busiest when the kids were little and I was working f/t, I still at least used the q's from the Sun. inserts. Now, with the internet and your tutelage fellow hounders, it's become a more strategic game.

I have been behind numerous people at CVS, Wags that are buying shampoo and conditioner, body wash, razor refills and a make up item and pay $50. My heart jumps out of my chest a little!

I used to hide stuff too until I heard my Rite Aid manager tell me they escorted someone out of the store for doing that. They caught her on their videotape. Apparently people were asking for rainchecks for the items and their computer system showed they should've had more of a particular item. Later a lady showed up in line with the item and they escorted her out the store. rubyslippers: Escorting someone out is pretty risky if you ask me - especially at RA where sometimes they put the items in their normal space AND put them on an end cap. I guess the problem is that with the buy $30/get a $10 GC at CVS, you can't get a rain check. I knew that going into it which is why I stashed the toothbrushes. It's a gambling game for the store because if they order a ton of the products, they're stuck with them if they don't sell. A couple of weeks ago, I bought $30 worth of SPAM on the same type of deal and there were still several on the shelf after I snagged mine. If I hadn't bought them, they'd be up to their armpits in SPAM about now. Personally, I'm thinking I might not have to stash stuff for long because the binder gal, who took all the Theraflu for the BF sales (on WEDNESDAY night), lives over 30 miles away. The cost of gas alone is going to be cost prohibitive cuz the deals at CVS just haven't been that good. Some people, however, don't really take the time to figure that out. Geez, I figured out that the drive to RA wasn't worth the time and gas and that's just across town!!

Question - does anyone know the lowest prices for the Lumen deal at CVS? I know there were 4$ off Qs a while ago and it's B1 Get 75$ off on the second one. Combined with the 3$/10 face CRT, will it be a good deal? TIA

Of course there is ALWAYS going to be the person that just can't be bothered because they have more money than they have time. I believe, however, that most people do not think that the savings add up to much. We've had several threads on this message board discussing the subject and even when we "Dick and Jane" it to people (as best as you can while you're dodging bullets ;D ), they pretty much refuse to accept that coupons can make a significant difference. And as we all know, the best results in terms of cost/benefit come when you combine a sale with multiples of the same coupon. It takes time to get to the point where you can do that. We are an instant gratification type of society and people want immediate "grand" results. Unfortunately, that's just not the way that it works.

Archie, that wench needs to go. She takes up too much of your time.
Last week I saw a guy buying something for 50¢. I had a Q that doubled to $1 and would make 2 free. I offered to him. He said he only needed one. I said, yes, but you'll pay 50¢ for one. This will give you 2 for FREE. He repeated he only needed one. I suggested he drop a can then in the donation bin on the way out. No thanks, I only need one.
STG I wanted to punch him in the face.

for those trying to reach the RA 1000 points before the end of the year. Hip2save has a post up about: Wow! Here’s a great way to snag a fragrance gift set for a rockin’ price… AND snatch up better than free skin care products… (Photo Credit: Stingy Momma!) Rite Aid Deal Scenarios valid through 12/3 Buy 1 Beyonce Heat Rush Fragrance Gift Set $29.99 Use the $10/1 in-ad coupon Use the $5/1 coupon found here or from the All You Magazine November issue Final Cost $14.99 (this gift set supposedly contains $59.25 worth of items!)* * If you are a Wellness Plus Gold Member, your out of pocket cost after coupons will be just $8.99 after your 20% off discount (Photo Credit: Keeping Your Cents) As I mentioned yesterday in the weekly deals, many C. Booth Derma products are marked on clearance at 75% off which means better than free skin care products for you! Please keep in mind that clearance prices do vary by store, so you may not find the same selection of clearance items at your store. Buy 1 C. Booth Derma Daily Vitamin Skin Facial Cleanser on clearance for $3.49 (regularly $13.99) Use the $3/1 in-ad coupon Pay $0.49 Get a $2 +Up Reward (limit 4 offers) Final Cost FREE + $1.51 moneymaker The C.Booth was not on clearance at my store at all... I did end up getting the Zantac for 1.99 after up and $5 mc/IP as I needed it. I am in the upper 800's, so maybe I will make it to 1000, if there is a killer deal.

A lady was looking at the Kraft dressings and I handed her a Q and told her what she'd pay for the large bottle. She handed it back saying that she wanted the smaller bottle. Those were priced at $1.29 or $1.39 and the Q was only good on the larger bottles. Alrighty then.

I would challenge this too, is it's my understanding that store security cannot accuse anyone of anything until the unpaid product has left the premises. Also, in regard to my particular instance where if I had been able to buy papers with inserts at this CVS, I would have never had to hide the toothbrushes. So, my point is, if they had tried this on me, I would have made them check the security camera for who stole the coupons from the paper....in my best Bon Qui Qui, of course, "sek-ur-i-tee"!

Dancin: No, I've never done it at Rite Aid but a couple of years ago I rearranged a few things at WAGs. I guess Rite Aid had trouble with this certain woman before and she was told to not come back. Murpath: With the price of everything going up, I still find it unbelievable that people shop at CVS without using their card. I do a lot of cherrypicking too or we wouldn't be able to eat like we do now. I just made buffalo wild wing dip for a football game and all I had to do was shop my pantry and freezer for the items I got when there was a great sale and coupons to match. Had I gone out to buy all these items, it would've cost me a big percentage of my grocery budget. I used the Dorito scoops that I got last winter at CVS and they were still fresh.

Ever since I was a little kid, if I ever do anything even slightly wrong, I get in big trouble. I like to think it's G-d's way of keeping me on the straight & narrow! I always get nervous doing it, but I don't know what else to do with Wags, that doesn't give rainchecks and refuses to order a ton of the items I know will be super hot. Couple that with someone who is getting there early (and I can't due to my medications) - I just can't compete with a shelf clearer who is there at 8 a.m. I think it's just 1 person. But, I didn't do much hiding for BF, and plenty of items were in stock for the most part. Quite shocking. I will say, though, that if a LOT of people start doing the hiding thing, the stores will crack down, cause there will be stuff all throughout the store and it will be a mess. Wow, just talking about it, I'm feeling like I should not do it - because - with my luck - I'll end up in handcuffs lol. I promise to send you all my mug shot if that happens. Or, maybe, better yet, I should just be good.

I go into Whole Foods and someone is buying $200 worth of items that fit in 1 grocery bag. I go into Fred Meyers and I see people looking for the least expensive meat, cheese etc. There has always been a divide between the rich and the poor, but I see it dramatically widening, with the middle class being thrown into poverty. There was a movie that came out recently called "In Time" that was a rather fascinating analogy of the rich and poor divide.

The true effect of couponing and bargain hunting takes quite awhile to feel. I wasn't a true stockpiler until this year. I guess I would say I was a mini-stockpiler. There were things I just wouldn't have thought of stockpiling - i.e. meds.

I can't get the high dollar ones to come off predictably. The $1/1 was on the card 1 week ago when I bought kids cereal, and it didn't come off, neither did that bogus cell fire coupon for $3 off my order. So, I am done with the program completely.....

Dying to share this somewhere - I rarely post because I'm reading during slow times at work, but definitely lurk often and have benefited so much from the collective wisdom here. Anyway, I had a positive pregnancy test this morning. My daughter is 3 years old and has been asking for a little sister (although I'm hoping for brother) for months now. My husband and I are estatic but don't intend to tell until we're past the first trimester. I think I'm about 3 weeks in. Had morning sickness throughout my entire pg last time and it started again last week and the test went positive within seconds. Feeling excited and overwhelmed. Soon it will be time to hound diapers again

Went to cvs this morning to do the Tide deal. They were wiped out of the .99 Glade, of course, and also all of the 4.99 Oral B THAT WERE MARKED, but, me, the hound that I am, found some several spaces over from the marked ones, that were Oral B power brushes, regular 7.99, went to scan them at the handy dandy red machine and sure enough, 4.99 BABY! So #tongue2# to the shelf clearers! LOL! I still need $2 to get the gift card, but am holding out hope of getting the free sprays. I paid $15.xx in EB's and 2.22 in cash and will get a $10 gift card. Not bad at all!

The Lumene products are pricey--@ $30 for the moisturizer. Found one on clearance awhile back and w/the $5 q it came out to $3.50 something. My daughter loves the stuff. Scan your card at the red machine because I got a $5 off Lumene purchase there yesterday. It didn't restrict according to size so I got one of the little moisturizer pots in the trave/trial section. Those are $4.19! You could get two of those and pay $1.24 plus tax, or do as I did and get one. Depending on your cashier, you could get .81 overage. Since I had lots of stuff, I did get the overage. If that's all you are buying, they'll reduce the q so all you'll pay is tax. But is you want the full size, it would probably look like this (provided you get the CRT $5 q) Lumene #1 $30 Lumene #2 $7.50 Minus: 2/$5 man q's $3/$10 CRT (I thought that one was for hand/body lotion??) 1/$5 Lumene CRT =$19.50 + tax HTH
