<walks across stage>
An' who else d'we got. We got Lassie. Scottish Lassie. <laughter> Yeah, I know y'all are starting to see a theme going here.
Lassie's got a lymph problem or somethin' because her hands... <puffs out cheeks and makes "freaking huge" gesture> <audience chuckles> I'm talkin' Kate Beckinsale with an allergic reaction big. You high five this chick and it blots out the sun, you know what I'm sayin'? <laughter>
"Hey Lassie, gimme five gi.... oly shit!" <roaring laughter> I think she spanked her kid once and he's livin' in Hong Kong now or somethin'.
And she got these little beady cat eyes, too. Little beady eyes. Like people are always tryin' to swat those two flies off her face. <laughter> They figure she can't do it herself 'cause she'd take her nose out with 'em. <laughter>
And they're right. They're right.

One of these days I just know I'm going to be carted away by the men in the white coats. Two people were just standing outside my office door questioning my sanity while I snickeured-guffawed-giggled-and snorted my way through this thread.

An' after Lassie we got Malarky. <audience chuckles> No seriously, y'all better laugh now 'cause I'm not makin' it sound any more screwed up than that. <laughter>
Naw, Malarky she's OK. Don't ever get between her an' her bipolar meds, you know what I'm sayin'. But OK. She's OK. <laughter>

thanks, SL. I don't know if you ventured into the thread where I explained who this beautiful creature is - he's a survivor from that massacre in OH, and he's just stunning.

<picks mic off stand> Chiver. She's another sweet chick just a few Prozacs short of y'all not havin' to do this: <makes face> <audience laughs> Seriously, don' ever let wild animals loose in Ohio 'cause this chick is like a Charles Manson groupie for tigers, know what I mean? <laughter> She'll find the butt ugliest cat in the history of ever, right? Find a fish eye photo of the thing where its nose is like friggin' Jupiter— <laughter> aw f... the nose got a real "Lassie hands" thing goin' on—an' then she'll sell it to you like that twitchy chick from the Slap Chop commercial. Y'all know the one. <puffs out bosom, sucks in cheeks, puts on terrible British accent> "It's dishwasher safe, Jim. Oh dis tiger is dishwasher safe." <laughter> Y'all know the one I'm talking about. "Oh, just stooning." -the rest of us are all like 'What the f...'- "Just stooning. Order now... unless you live in Ohio."

It couldn't have happened in Quebec. We consider ketchup to be an abomination. Goodness, I can't live without ketchup. What do you put on top of your poutine?

How do you make shrimp cocktail in Canada when you have no ketchup? Maple syrup? <Beth ponders for second and then wanders off to Google because now she can't wait for an answer here...>

Some people make cocktail sauce by mixing ketchup with horseradish. That's almost as bad as using a can of tomato soup and calling it pasta sauce.

How do I make cocktail sauce? I buy it in a jar at the grocery store and empty it into the dish.

You can easily add as much horseradish as you like. (I have a jar of that too in the fridge).

Google is letting me down... I suspect they either buy the jarred stuff or use a more Thousand Islandy type dressing (at least that seems to be what Australia and NZ do, from what I'm finding...)

Like I said, how is that different? I've eaten both and either way it tastes about the same to me. Added horseradish notwithstanding. Have to make some that others will eat.

The horseradish sauce you buy isn't "pasty" as ketchup and it has a bit more vinegar to give it a tang.

I don't use horseradish sauce, just the prepared horseradish. If I used the sauce it'd probably look more like Thousand Island. BTW, why is it called horseradish in the 1st place?

If you want to make a home-made cocktail sauce that's got real bite, blend the horseradish with some salsa instead of ketchup. I guarantee you'll like it a lot better.

Can't tell you that, but I can tell you that in Shakespeare's day it was sometimes mistaken for another plant with fatal results. I'll tell you on Halloween. MCL, better keep on watching out for anything Gomez serves you with horseradish then... lol.
