Thanks WXYZ, IBM is nearing a yield of 4% - Perhaps it is time to consider jumping back in? That being said - I do not care for the IBM leadership particularly Virginia Romety the CEO. Another problem I have is that I cannot visualize where the company is headed, as they seem to be trying to discover that themselves.
But, if it goes above 4% I will start taking a closer look at it again. They need a change in leadership !

For those that are seeking opportunity now is the time to make a move on Vector Group (VGR). I own this stock as a long term play but many like to make a quick buck and get out. VGR will pay a .40 cent per share dividend in Sept. In addition it usually pays a 5% "stock Dividend" in September also. Although neither has been officially announced it is highly anticipated. So - Invest $10,000 in the stock at today's price = $21.22 equals 471 shares. 471 x .40 = $188.40 471 x 5% = + 23 shares. 23 shares @ $21.22 = $488.06 $488.06 + $188.40 = $676.46 profit ! Not bad for about 2 months. What to expect. - Historically you will see the share price steadily climb between now and the ex dates (probably will climb close to $23 per share and then will see a sell off after the payouts) (Probably to less than $21 per share) and then it will stable out again. As I said above - I own this stock as a long term play but many prefer to take the short term plays. Risks - It is possible that VGR may not pay a "Stock Dividend" this year. So do your research ! To view VGR's Dividend History: www.vectorgroupltd.com/investor-relations/faqs/#4This is not a recommendation but just my own observations - please do your own research before making an investment decision.

General Electric (GE) Time to back up the Truck and start loading up!
I have GE in two of my portfolios - my IRA and a Taxable account. I have been contemplating selling and investing in a higher yielding stock. I have decided against that mainly because of its new leadership and his announcement yesterday of his intentions to start cutting jobs aggressively, especially in the ones that do not produce revenue for the company.
I think I will wait and see what happens and continue adding to my positions each quarter.
I believe we will see some major improvement in the stock price over the next couple of years. In the meantime I will be payed about 4% in Dividends for my patience.

Looks like I was a little early on GE - It now has a price target of $17 per share. If it hits that price I will be buying a lot of shares --- depending on the Dividend - a little cut okay, but stopping the Dividend altogether would be a whole new ball game. GE should have never sold the finance arms and it should be broken up into at least three segments. Aviation, Health and Industrial/Energy.

AT&T (T) has broken a 5.5% Yield - Now is the time to start adding stock. I added more shares this week and will continue to add below $36. I also intend to add some to my daughters account. The lower it goes the more aggressive I will become in adding. I really believe in this company with the Direct TV and Time Warner acquisitions . I believe AT&T leadership has a clear vision for the future.

Phillip Morris (PM) has Raised its dividend about 3% !
Phillip Morris has raised its Quarterly Dividend from $1.04 to $1.07 per share. The new annual dividend is now $4.28 per share. While many expected a larger dividend I personally am very satisfied with the 3% increase as it shows that management is being conservative.

Do you think GE has hit bottom now? I am thinking of jumping back in now that it is around $23 and Jeff Immelt is gone. Should I hold out for $21 a share?

If it was me I would wait till "financials" showed that they had turned the corner. I dont mind leaving a little money on the table in order to not try to catch a falling knife or waste investment money in a stagnant company. There will be plenty of time to get in if they start to turn things around and their "financials" show that it is actually happening. There are rumors that they will have to cut their dividend. The new CEO will be addressing investors in November. The dividend speculation and what will be said in November COULD have a potential big impact on price of GE, up or down. If I already owned it, at this point I would just hang on. At least for Virginian, the yield keeps getting bigger. the yield keeps getting bigger for new buyers at a lower share price. He is still locked in at a lower return due to higher purchase price. I always see this stated and never understood why people say that. Seems to be a personal way of just accepting the fact the stock is in the tubes right now. (no offense meant, just an observation, and I have been in the same boat myself) I have to say that dividend payout is looking good, and I do not think they will cut it.

Some are waiting for the financial results. Predicting $18-$20 per share. If that happens I will be adding more shares. Some even predict a dividend cut. I don't know what will happen short term but long term I believe GE is a great investment. I am hoping it will spin off the health care and at least one other segment. But who knows? My cost basis is $17.91 a share so not too worried.
