As far as 2011 dividend plays
My tried and true list is
MO PM XOM JNJ NYB GE DUK
I also have a few smaller positions in EOI DPO
My pick for total stock appreciation and dividends for 2011 is GE

no apology needed
Drftr posted more in the thread than i did....lol
In my opinion, there is no better and safer method for accumulating wealth over a LONG sustained period
This is not a for the stock trader.....this is for the buyer who follows stocks on a VERY casual basis....
Unless something hits the news like what happened to BP...these companies need to be checked on a quarterly or semi annual basis
You buy, hold, and reap the benefits of long sustained growth....and the power of reinvesting the dividends

He will be but I am going to try and convince a few of the holdouts over there to reconsider coming to these boards. I guess sometimes change is difficult

No such luck - I don't want to be pinned, but I do wish some would contribute to discussions more. I have even considered starting my own Boards for the more serious discussions.

Do you know why DEG won't reinvest dividends? I have another foreign stock and it does!

When it comes to dividend investing, payout growth is just as important as current yield. Among the highest-yielding U.S. stocks are blue-chip Dow components. But, not all Dow stocks are on equal footing in terms of shareholder treatment. In fact, some of the highest-yielding Dow stocks, such as Pfizer(PFE_), have cut their dividends in the past. Below is a snapshot of those with the best three-year dividend growth.
10. Exxon(XOM_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 28%
9. Caterpillar(CAT_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 29%
8. Coca-Cola(KO_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 30%
7. J&J(JNJ_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 30%
6. Microsoft(MSFT_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 34%
5. P&G(PG_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 39%
4. Wal-Mart(WMT_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 43%
3. Un. Tech.(UTX_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 50%
2. Intel(INTC_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 71%
1. IBM(IBM_), 3-Year Dividend Growth: 71%

Found this on page 7 of the thread list. For shame people. For shame. My current list of stocks I own. Will get % of portfolio soon. Gets more cumbersome because I have many of them in an IRA and a trading account.
BP, KO, PM, KFT, HNZ, PFE, WMT, EXC, DD, JNJ, DUK, MCD, NMM, FSC, WHX, HI, PTY, PMX, FTR
-The FTRs were 'freebies' I received when VZ spun off some land line business last year. The PTY and PMX are really small positions I just wanted to see what the prices did and how the income stream worked.
-I haven't bought anything for a while with recent dividends because I think we'll have another rough May (if not sooner) and I'd rather not buy today when I expect things to be cheaper in a couple/few months.

Hi Drifter,
Long time no see! I believe you just might be right about the buying opportunity. If Saudi Arabia Falls then things might get really cheap - except for the oil stocks!

In Houston is still the King Pharoah of dividends. So let it be written, so let it be done. But he left off one very important money making investment . . . .

Leading contender for more shares come May is currently EXC. Hoping between now and then that people continue to drag them through the mud just because they are involved in nuclear.

Buying opportunities in next few days
Been holding for a while now, looking for a pullback
This isn't the kind of pullback i expected....but it may just be the impetus i need to add to positions
Looking at adding to positions in
JNJ MO HNZ GE (cost average at 9.50 per share....and with this kind of drop may be worth a few more shares for long term) still number one part of my portfolio
