"We never apologize to anyone for depending upon our Creator. We can laugh at those who think spirituality the way of weakness. Paradoxically, it is the way of strength. The verdict of the ages is that faith means courage. All men of faith have courage. They trust their God. We never apologize for God. Instead we let Him demonstrate, through us, what He can do. We ask Him to remove our fear and direct our attention to what He would have us be. At once, we commence to outgrow fear." Alcoholics Anonymous, 4th Edition, How It Works, pg. 68~

health.msn.com/health-topics/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100283217In part: One in Six Americans Binge Drink: CDC TUESDAY, Jan. 10 (HealthDay News) -- An estimated 38 million American adults are binge drinkers -- defined as men who down five or more drinks at a sitting and women who consume four or more drinks at one time, federal researchers reported Tuesday. Of the 17 percent of Americans who engage in binge drinking, most are 18 to 24 years old. But those 65 and older engage in the practice more often, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And those numbers may underestimate the scope of the problem, officials said. ____________________________________________________ More info from the CDC )Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) www.cdc.gov/alcohol/faqs.htm#alcoholismAbuse

Hello all, DSD called, mom was traveling for work. conversation went like this: DSD "******" mom said you could help with some grocery money, the girls are going shopping after our meeting tonight and I don't have much to eat in the house ME, "OK, how much do you need?" DSD " a few dollars" ME " a few is three, that's all you want is 3 bucks? DSD (whines) " stop it, I mean would 25 be OK?" ME " I suppose I have to bring it over to you too, ( she lives 20 mins away) DSD " I could stop by but your in the other direction of where i am going" OK, so I bring it over, give the kid 40 bucks and tell her no junk food. 3 days later she calls me to tell me " I have your change and I saved the receipt so you would know there's no junk food" Maybe DSD is pulling her head out of her butt

Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Too much watching, Roy, maybe not enough doing.
Life is all about doing not watching.
Love you more.

Morning RG and everyone else DSD pissed off DW last night! Kid had set up w/ mom to come over do some laundry and have supper. Invitation for supper was extended to one of the other girls DSD lives with. DW makes a huge batch of chicken, ziti, broccoli, so there would be left overs for DSD to take home. So what does DSD do? She blows her mother off at the last minute, says she doesn't feel like coming over because they don't want to drive but if one of us would pick them up they would be OK with it. Supper did not go to waste, DW dropped it off at the station for myself and the rest of the group . DSD has reinserted her head up her arse the saga continues

Being clean/sober
The concept of being clean is not restricted to 'not using.' Being clean is a state of mind. It is a conscious choice. It is about keeping our spirits clean as well as not doing drugs in one form or another. When we have these two things in place, the rest follows. We can undertake being clean in order to explore our new lives fully. Cleansing our bodies, environments, habit patterns, and removing what is not a part of us, allows us to see that what remains is often better than we expected. Being clean is becoming new again. Clean is removing the accumulated dirt that is a natural part of life. One difficulty we face is that a relapse can undermine our willingness to the point that the fear of going all the way to the bottom again can make staying clean seem to be difficult or impossible. We keep returning to the power of surrender that we found in our initial recovery and we get results. If we find it hard to turn to that power, we talk about it at meetings and with supporters of our recovery. One sure sign of eventual relapse is being critical and uncharitable of others who are hurting. Our identification with other members insures that our real unkindness is directed at fears within our own being.
