Madness

I will use my craziness to lead me into more of me, more of self and soul. Whatever is driving me mad needs looking at. It is an indicator of my own unfinished business. If it were not, my response would be less intense, less overwhelming. Only a few circumstances in life legitimately drive me mad. When this happens I will take time with my self, I will pay closer attention to what is going on with me. Rather than seeing my feelings as only a reaction to another person or situation, I will accept them as my own. I will sit with them and pay attention to what arises within me. I will make a sincere effort to own what is mine, knowing that the more of me I am truly and honestly connected with, the more of me I am willing to hold and claim, the more I will have room for soul.

I own what is mine.

Madness need not be all breakdown. It may also be break-through. It is potential liberation and renewal as well as enslavement and existential death

Daphne and RG, DSD came over for supper tonight, she had her mother cracking up at the table. Kid gets bored so she goes on WebMD and looks up every little bump, bruise, ache and pain she has. Her latest is she has an enlarged prostate, ,she is becoming quite the hypochondriac. DW is taking her to a meeting, they can have more girl time

LOL Jake! You know the drill.... We trade one addiction for another...... Mine is guitars (I've got way to many, and hotrods, building my third) Guess things could be worse for both your DSD and me, lol. Great Jake! ;D

Hello everyone, took DSD Xmas shopping last night, she was very reasonable only cost me 46.00 for all her shopping. she is over the house right now, we got pizza for supper and then I am taking her to a meeting. when she has her head out of her ass, I like the kid

Merry Christmas!!, DSD spent the night, her homemade gifts brought tears to her mothers eyes. Making them herself, for very little money showed incredible maturity on her part, she was always materialistic. Now if I can just get through the day without her driving me nuts

Normal Day

I treasure this day. I love it because it is ordinary. My uneventful, business-as-usual day is for me like a quiet, well-crafted tune that I can listen to over and over again. The easy and natural things of life give me deep pleasure today. I am aware of what a gift life is - to inhabit this body is a privilege. The human and the divine meet in this simple moment, this ordinary day. There is a quiet majesty in its simplicity. There is nothing missing. There is a spirit that lives in this day, it speaks through the mind and grows upward through the ground, it casts warmth and fragrance and sunlight.

I do not need overflow to feel alive.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, savor you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Basic Text, p.27 As addicts, many of us experience depression from time to time. When we feel depressed, we may be tempted to isolate ourselves. However, if we do this, our depression may turn to despair. We can't afford to let depression lead us back to using.
Instead, we try to go about the routine of our lives. We make meeting attendance and contact with our sponsor top priorities. Sharing with others about our feelings may let us know we aren't the only ones who have been depressed in recovery. Working with a newcomer can work wonders for our own state of mind. And, most importantly, prayer and meditation can help us tap the power we need to survive depression.
We practice acceptance and remember that feelings like depression will unquestionably pass in time. Rather than struggle with our feelings, we accept them and ask for the strength to walk through them.
Just for Today: I accept that my feelings of depression won't last forever. I will talk openly about my feelings with my sponsor or another person who understands

Very true Alpha, my brother is learning this all too well. He was sober for years, then fell off the wagon as they say, he has now lost his wife and kids.. He is paying the price.

I for one could not conquer my self destructive habits by myself. I tried MANY TIMES. I personally needed the help of others and a higher power concept.

Good morning all!

Yeah the addictive mind will tell us "I can do it" And it works for a time, till life shows up and we go back to what is comfortable, to numb the pain, or emotion, then..........

Ya gotta find something, doesn't have to be 12 step, but doing it alone, will only work for sometime (yes there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule!)

I know several (3) people who quit for over 15 yrs. The question then arises, were they real addicts? Don't know!
