OK, while the left arm isn't incapacitated today it still hurts. Another 30 advil should take care of that. I'm starting my exercise routine with housework because I've been seriously slacking in that department. I've already made three trips from the second floor to the basement. That has to count for something. Maybe tomorrow I'll actually get on the scale and see what the actual damage from the holidays was...

I didn't even try to go in the Y tonight. I'm guessing in a couple of weeks it won't be so crowded.
I ran, then went over to the basketball gym & ran bleachers for 30 minutes

I need to get my bike back to the office. I can ride on some of the nice weekends. There really is no place to ride close to home.
I'm glad we are FINALLY to the point that the days are getting slightly longer. I really look forward to being able to ride my bike after work. I usually ride to the Y, do my strength workout, then go for an hour bike ride.

I'm still hitting the free weights three times a week, my goal is to gain another ten pounds before April. I'm at 185 now. Anyone else trying to gain weight?
FWIW I'm 41, 5'8" tall with a medium build, benched 285 last night, the most I've done in 20 years. This is starting to get fun again.

Tractor - Spydah & Dark are trying to gain weight. Probably others that I can't remember. Pilates this morning & upper body workout at the Y tonight. I'll be SO GLAD when the resolution crowd thins out. I hope these folks stick with what they've started, just vary their times instead of EVERYBODY showing up from 4:30 to 6:00. I tend to get annoyed with folks half-assing it thru a class when there are people who would gladly take their spot & give it their all.

yes the really skinny ones want to gain weight. like my barber! he is skinny like Tommy Davidson the comedian and he just turned 31 or 32. I keep telling him be careful for what you wish for. cause I told him he'll start gaining by age 30 and then it will be hard to take off. I had a co-worker age 28 or 29 when he started with our group 4 years ago. Now he's FAT like me. As I get older I get fatter! over the past New Years Weekend I hit 262LBS!! I saw that and went DAM! sooo - I'll try loosing weight again.

Joined a gym today with some friends at work one problem, they have way to many classes to choose from. Im signed up for a power yoga class and a bikram yoga class as well as a pilaties class but Im still debating on a spinning class. I have heard spinning is freaking hard. Has anyone taken a spin class before? I wanna know what Im getting myself into.

I just have to ask.....how do you guys find all the time? I mean some of you speak of running 5 miles a day, plus an hour of yoga, and sometimes even something over and above that. I devote 45-60 minutes 6 days a week to working out, and that's sometimes a struggle. I don't even have kids, and still can't figure out how to fit in more workout time.

I biked 3 miles today. With weather in the 30s. Holy Guacamole it was cold out there ... my fingers are like icicles, and I was wearing gloves over mittens. Brrrrrrr. I miss my winter sunshine!

TechnoJ - I love spin class. I do ride my bike outside when it doesn't get dark so early, but in the winter I take spin & cycle circuit classes. The workout is as tough as you make it. Probably the worst for non-bikers is a sore backside until you get use to the bike seat. Miss D - I wake up early enough in the morning to get in a quick workout at home. The YMCA is between work & home, so it's very easy to stop by for a workout on my way home. I usually like working out, which is a good thing since my metabolism has slowed to NOTHING this morning I did a cardio w/weights workout. Tonight at the Y I did a leg workout.

I was doing pretty well until Thanksgiving hit, and it's been downhill since then but I have started back. I have been doing my bowflex for upper body in the morning and we have started back doing Leslie Sansone walking videos at work in the afternoon. I had started running on the treadmill, but unfortunately have backed off that. This is the first time in my life I've ever been able to start running without getting shin splints. I think it's from having scoliosis which makes my legs uneven. I plan on starting back the running on the treadmill this weekend. I like to take the pup out for walks in the evening/weekend, but I can't stand cold weather, and it's dark before I get home. Had a couple of close calls with people not understanding what 25 mph in a subdivision means, so have stopped the walking for now.

One way to get a work out in is walk in place or jog while cooking dinner. In the 8 mins. it takes to cook the macaroni, you've done something. A few sit ups and push up at say 7:00 p.m. is also helpful. A great, free program with cool videos and fantastic support is www.crossfit.com. Fresh daily workout will give you the most for your workout time. The site also defines the areas of fitness.

actually no however it's a stationary bike exercise class. as always the difficulty is in the beginning is the hardest. but after consistent classes it does get better. same here! then Christmas rolled around and that killed it. so now I'm back ....on the wagon? arms are tight again and I'm down from 262 to 255 LBS still have a goal of weighing 235 lbs and maintaining that weight!

I have taken spinning classes before and really enjoyed it. It is a stationary bike and you sit down and spin, stand up and spin, sit down/stand up for jumps, etc. It is a really good workout, though tough at times! I don't do it anymore because I was going when a friend was teaching at the college, but now the college is checking students IDs and I'm not a student, so there went that! My goal is to work out six days a week for at least the next month. I do weights/abs on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays and cardio on Tuesday/Thursdays/Saturdays because I am starting snowboarding this Saturday and will use that as my cardio instead of doing it at the gym. MissD - I always complain that I don't have the time either but if you really analyze your schedule, you might find out that you are wasting time. I used to say that but then I would sit on the couch and watch two hours of TV a night. Now I get home, eat dinner, sit for a while, go to the gym, come home, and I usually have more energy than before so I do some cleaning/laundry, etc. and then head to bed. I also have to spend two of my waking hours commuting to/from work. Tonight will be the real tester for me. My grad classes start back up and M/T I have to be home by 8. I usually hit the gym from 7:15-8:15/8:30 so now I have to push to get there earlier. The bad thing is that is when the gym is the most populated!

I did my morning cardio w/weights workout. Didn't leave the house (other than running around in the snow with the dogs), so no evening workout.

today's workout was one hour of shoveling out the driveway. Since I can barely type & both my shirts are sweat soaked, I'm pretty sure it was a good workout. Wish I'd remembered to wear my heart rate monitor so I'd have an idea of how many calories I burned. Thursday - I AM SO SORE FROM SHOVELING SNOW!!! Wednesday morning was cardio w/weights. I was lazy Thursday morning & didn't exercise I did go to the Y tonight for a leg workout. I tried to go Wednesday night, but they were closed due to all the ice. That place was PACKED tonight! Friday morning - cardio workout w/weights Friday night - 5k on the treadmill, then walking with an incline (total time 55 minutes)
