LOL I guess you don't read EE. She was crying because she weighed herself and was 130 *gasp* and never weighed that much in her life (other than pregnancy) on her period no less which means she was retaining water. She reweighed herself after her period and was back to 125 surprise surprise. {Angel wonders if Pig is talking about her....} I go through this turmoil every month. I bloat up on my period and feel all fat and disgusting...and then go back to normal. I usually weigh about 4 pounds more when I am on my period. I really need to get back to eating healthy and working out. I have really fallen off the wagon since I have been working so much and it shows. I feel yucky and I am jiggly again.

I don't really have a clear long term goal right now. My current workout is more of a general strength building deal. Not specifically geared towards bulking up for it's own sake, or getting the super cut bodybuilder thing going. Now, since I started a scrawny dude I'm bulking up from it obviously, but it's not the goal. Right now I'm just focusing on getting to a point where I feel I have an adequate strength foundation. After that, I'll figure out what I want next. I have to say the belly thing is taking some getting used to though, so I'll probably do at least one intense cardio phase and trim down some. I've spent most of my life skinny enough to have a six pack whether I worked at it or not, so the belly flab thing is freaking me out a bit, but I'm eating like a horse which always happen when I lift. Right diet is a key. There is a great exercise for 6 pack...it's called Table Pushoffs. I would make a goal if I was you. You do have abs now, they are just covered by fat. Unfortunately, stomach area fat is the last thing that goes. To achieve that visible 6 pack, usually, you need to drop <10% BF. If you just started now, you will see most of your results in first 90 days. Keep at it! BTW, did you get your BF measured yet? You should look at that instead of scale for now. Scale will drive you crazy lol

Crap, I forgot to buy a scale this weekend. I meant to get a scale and calipers so I could start tracking my weight and BF.

BF is a commonly used term. I knew exactly what Dark was talking about, but I still ran through all of the things we use it for on these boards - boyfriend, best friend, breast feeding and now body fat.

If you're into serious strength training, you might find this site of interest. I have several of their grip builders. www.ironmind.com/

Progress: Well size is coming back faster than strength. Not surprising as I've been lifting for size only and my ligaments and tendons haven't had a chance to catch up after my 8 year break but I finally got back into the 400's on DL and Squats. Bench is tough to do as it kills my shoulders but it's back in the 300s.

Last night was my first night back after taking a week off to go on vacation with the family. I thought it would be worse, but I actually was able to increase my weight on several of the lifts. I guess the time off was good for me. Now I'm going to try and hit it hard for the next several months and see what happens. I made it to 195lbs, I hope to hit 200 in another month.

Are you sure it is not the floral dress and ponytails?

But the dress accentuates my starting to get ripped back. If they'd make open back men's clothes I wouldn't have to shop in the ladies section.

Military presses, no leg drive at all, so I don't feel totally emasculated that I can only do 100.

Another shirt bites the dust. Is going to be warm here today so I picked out a favorite short sleeve shirt of mine and it's way too small in the arms. Could wear it last summer rrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Wife said it looked stupid and I am not allowed to wear it now.

I had someone tell me once that you can never buy a weightlifter the wrong size shirt. If it's too big he'll be flattered, if it's too small, he'll wear it.

Pig is only 15 pounds away from a state record (had a sweet DL workout earlier this week where I pulled 20 pounds less than my PR and state record in another state 10 years earlier!) and I haven't even started using equipment yet! I am going to compete again! YES!! Bad thing is I now have shoulder tendonitits which mean my bench (one of my stronger lifts) is not going anywhere fast.

Dead lift. Power lifting is three events. The squat, bench press and dead lift. It's quite different than just lifting in the gym as you have to pause at the bottom on the bench until they say "lift" which is about 1-2 seconds after you come to a complete stop. And the squat you have to break parallel which most people don't. eta thanks Az. I pushed way too hard and screwed up my arms but they don't effect any of the lifts. I haven't done bicepts to any real extent in months.

Pig, so what is the state record? Do they go by weight class? I've never lifted in a competition, but it would be nice to have something to shoot for.
