Hi busymom! That all happened a few years ago, life is much better now. Virtual hugs are still appreciated though.

Shooby, occasionally I get that "aloneness" feeling if I go out by myself to grab a bite to eat. In this country it's kinda weird (or it feels that way), to sit & eat something all by yourself. Maybe it's a cultural thing?!?

Femme, my DH is like that, once he is home from work or off for the weekend, we usually just stay home. He tells me I can go if I want to, but like I said, I don't like to go out by myself.

That's what I tell my bf too, Kimber. I just wanna stay in and he wants to go do this and that and I always tell him to go ahead and he says the same thing..."he doesn't wanna go by himself"....Makes me feel a bit guilty but I am what I am, ya know? Sometimes I just have to push myself out the door and make myself do things anyway.

Well I had a bitch of a day yesterday and I can most definitely feel depression creeping in. So I increased my vitamin D and got my ass out the door. I feel better today.

Depression is associated with isolation and feeling suicidal with a highly positive product moment correlation coefficient. Those that are depressed wish to be alone....nothing is quite likeable to them anymore.

I really need to try that Vitamin D. Gonna have to get me some because my PMS is kicking hard and the depression is a bit overwhelming off and on. I do quite enjoy being around others and am great at socializing once I get out...Some say, I'm even the life of the party but I have to make myself go. ;D Depression is a hard thing to kick at times.

I was thinking of getting some after hearing it was good for depression but if it's bad, i'm not trying it.

B12 or Vit D? I believe either can be linked to some issues of depression.

I was just going to comment that my GP also recommended B12 for me - as well as more D - especially in the form of sunshine - which meant getting up and doing things outdoors to get the benefits naturally - instead of just popping a Vitamin supplement.

Yeah I've heard about these two from so many of my specialists, it's not even funny. And just this past winter I done the high dosage of Vit D for 12 weeks and this was the first winter with no symptoms of SAD.

Well getting up and getting your ass out the damn door is not only a Vit D benefit but a brain benefit as well. And I mean that for everyone .

I don't mind going outside to soak up some sun, but with major depression, I don't even wanna do that. That is why I am so willing to try anything, such as Vitamin D and the B 12 if I have to.

Not everyone is comfortable with getting their ass up and going outdoors. Have you heard of social anxiety? I had severe agoraphobia a few years back, but still had a career I had to maintain. I did use a prescription med to help me get through my day, but also made sure I used LESS than prescribed. I LEARNED how to deal with the anxiety and overcome it using other means, without depending solely on pills to take care of it for me. Then just last year I was dealt a huge blow that set me back almost to wanting to crawl back into a cave and never come out. But with all I learned from before I was able to overcome it without becoming totally dependent on popping a pill. I've been able to once again enjoy many things I avoided in the past (including travel) - mainly through perseverence and not letting the anxiety run my life and stop me from getting out. I would probably be completely house-bound now if I hadn't confronted my issue head-on dealt with it (through help from my Dr and other specialists) instead of just relying on prescriptions. All they do is give you temporary relief. I'm now not taking any prescribed meds - and glad I'm not dependent on them to function. .

I do understand some people really can overcome it. I feel that after years and years of the meds, I just depend on it so much but the thing is I don't have to take the full dose...I only take it when I go out. I know I have to get out sometimes and I am eventually going to crawl out of this hole I have dug myself into. But coming off my meds right now, is not an option. Even my doctor doesn't recommend it with the amount of panic attacks I have on a regular basis. You're right, sometimes we just have to face things head on but everyone kinda has their own way coping. It can get exhausting. I'm sure eventually I will be ok. I have faith.

Part of the problem with things like anxiety and depression is that they create is that these illnesses are extremely good at feeding themselves. Once you start down the road with one or both of them, they wreak such havoc in your life and create behaviors that only exacerbate the problem. As you begin feeling depressed or anxious, you start to isolate yourself because of those feelings of just not having the energy to be engaged in life or the anxious feelings. So, you start to back off, withdraw and isolate yourself which then just perpetuates and the whole process. I do think the key is to realizing that the path to wellness is a journey. That you can feel good and whole again but it really only will happen one step at a time. But, when you start making progress through little things eventually it will all come together. So, stay the course and keep on truckin'!

Hello ladies.. -Sigh sigh- Anxiety, depression and the blah blahs.. Here's the thing with me.. Each time I've dealt with the 3some and overcame them, I find myself being so thankful. One other thing is, the space between the 3somes, tends to widen over time. Less down times. Yay. I think we all hang/hung in their and overcame/overcome, over time, each time..

sug: How much vit D did you take? I took 5000 IUs over the winter and it helped some.
Speaking of social anxiety, I was out the other weekend at an art fair and this woman has a service dog. Since I have my son on the waitlist for one (should be contacted end of this year/early next) I asked her about it. Apparently she would never leave the house and if her hubby couldn't pick up or she couldn't get it online she went without. This dog has allowed her to get out of the house, talk to strangers (she talked to me for quite a while) and her friends even agreed that it has been night and day. Anyways just a story I thought I would share.
Been busy with the kids, we go to the pool many days, had 2 of the kids in swim lessons for 2 weeks, DD just took to it like a fish. She is swimming all over our pool without her lifevest. I make sure she has noodles around to grab and that I am nearby but it is fun to watch. I even got my autistic son to the pool and it went REALLY well. Or at least the second day did, I still have scratches on my back from the first day. DS#1 is at day camp and loving it. We also got my 2 kids, my sister and niece to my dad's house boat for the first time ever. We have been trying for YEARS but my dad has always been too busy. Hoping to get there next week also. He has it on the St Croix river so we dove off the back, dug for clams and had a blast!
Miss you all, hope you are all doing well!
