Depression is something that affects a lot of us, at one time or another. It's often good to have someone to talk it out with, especially when you know they've been there themselves.
This thread is for SUPPORT, not snark. If you cannot follow that guideline, please do not post here.
Thanks for the start up for us pressioner'. Although we rise above every depress state most every time, we still like to have our own little corner in the huge sea of threads to help keep heads and hearts lifted..
There are only a few of us who frequented MSN's depression thread and most of the few will make the transfer here..
I'm glad you made the thread moonbeam. I followed Heart, to the Depression board, when she would come over to another board where I use to post. I have met some wonderful people on that board, who were pretty up front about what was going on what they were dealing with. I have so much admiration for them and with the daily struggles that come with dealing with depression.

I've been on anti-depressants for 15+ years. When I'm on them I'm very normal, functioning, etc. If I miss a pill for more than about three days, WHOA. I remember early on asking a therapist what was wrong with me, why I had to be on the pills for so long and she said to quit thinking of it that way. She pointed out that if it were the 1800s (ie prior to the invention of anti-depressants) I would probably live in a mental institution. That really, I should be thankful there is medicine for my illness, not be upset that I have to take the medicine.
That really helped me get over my own personal shame about it. I mean yes, it can be a bummer to have to wear a hearing aid, but wearing one is sure better than being deaf the rest of your life. I'm glad I live in a time where there are hearing aids (and anti-depressants) to help people who need that help.
Hi Sparkle, everyone, I am thankful also that you made this thread moonbeam. It will help so many who are having struggles. We had a good little group on the other board and now, thanks to you, we can spread our wings and enjoy a variety of topics while still being able to come here for/to help and support.
Today there is still a stigma with mental illness. Everbody shyes away from it as if it is a terrible disease.. I for one am not ashamed that I have bipolar illness (depression) and I tell them straight when they ask me why I'm not working, I tell them. I have been this way since 1995 and have sone severe episodes that have landed me in the psyc ward. But I god some good help now and have stayed out of the hospital for 6 years now YA! I do have my bad times, but I have my psyc Doc who is great and the girls from the Depression Board, their great. Moonbeam I thank You for starting this thread It will help us greatly.
It is so good to see everyone today.. If we've made it to post, and we have, then we're not as depressed as we could be.. I am so thankful to know that much about each one of my old and new friends..
Hi Weezy. Hi Darla.. Hi Sparkle. Hi Snerd. Hi Skinny. Oh, I am really gonna take to you, Skinny. Skinny is my desire.
Snerd, most folks do not consider mental anguish problematic enough to seek treatment.. Until they've almost fallen apart.
The embarrassment of admitting there's something a little mentally wrong is very difficult to accept, let alone admit.. I think if the sub titled word, mental wasn't attached to depression, more of us would run a little quicker for treatment..
Skinny, you know what I'm thinking while reading your post.. I'm thinking.. There are some who are misplaced inside prison walls when they should be placed in, yes, secured, but in more of a rehabilitating environment.. When an individual commits a crime who is mentally challenged is released after having served their time.. Guess what? There may be a repeat of that same crime if not properly diagnosed and treated..

Hi Heart, so glad you made it back here. We're all trying to adapt to the rules, and the new format. You did good though - already posting a picture. I'm still trying to figure out how to attach my avatar, even though I have one already, I'd like to change it.

Good job Moon! I just hope "some" people don't screw it up by posting stupid comments that THEY think are amusing.

Kent, I hope not, too. But I can and will delete as necessary ! I GOT THE POWER (a la CMC Music Factory)
heart, good job!!
Darla (and everyone else who may need some help), we have a handy dandy tutorial section located in the Welcome board. But if'n you CLICK HERE, it will take you right to it. Sections on avatars, posting pics/videos, how to quote, etc...
Hi Kent. Thanks for caring about us.. We appreciate it.
Heart You are most welcome of course and you can take it to the bank I'm not the only one that cares. I'll stop by every now and then to see how everyone is doing.
;DHey, folks! Welcome aboard. No shame in talking abouit depression, as far as I'm concerned. Everyone is subject to down times. Some people have down times over situations in their lives. Some people have down times due to chemicals in their systems. Some have down times over both! We're just people, doing the best we can and should be darned proud when we get it right!
The only people who never make mistakes are those who aren't doing anything. When you give voice to your anger you're speaking through your brain's more primitive limbic system not its cortex. Is that what you want?
For those of you who don't know/remember me from the other boards, I am bi-polar. I have other issues too- PTSD, OCD, etc etc.... I have been having issues since I was about 6- although family noticed there was a problem before that- I received a PTSD diagnosis at 9, was improperly diagnosed with clinical depression at 15 and was put on the wrong meds which sent me through a 6 week super rapid-cycle that ended in a near-fatal OD, spent 16 months in the hospital after that, and was finally diagnosed with bi-polar at 24. They actually got my main med right on the first shot, but every doctor wanted to tweak something. One doctor almost screwed everything up when she decided to totally change my meds several years ago. I had a not so great fit with it. Gained 80 pounds. Still trying to lose it.
HUGS to everybody. Will check back in- glad the gang is moving in!
If you are not being treated with love & respect, check your "price tag". Perhaps you have marked yourself down. Its you who tell people what you're "worth" by what you accept. Get off of the "clearance rack" and get behind the glass where they keep all the "valuables"....bottom line is.... "value" yourself more..Repost if you like... You might help someone get off the clearance rack...

Hey there!!!! It's so good to see you all! Nice to meet you too! I'd post a graphic, but haven't figured out how to yet. (I'm SO jealous that heart has already posted one! -heh.) I too am a refugee from the msn depression board. And am SO grateful this thread was started! (I'll try not to piss you off moonbeam! LOL)
Wow. I'm glad to see most of you made it over because they've nuts with the deletes over there!
TMR, welcome! and don't worry even a little about pissing me off. It generally takes quite a bit - unless the politics board is giving me fits. different story there! hahah

Why thank you! Generally I'm not much of a trouble maker. Although I've had my moments! And I might throw a hissy fit, if I don't figure out how to add a picture/image to my name soon! tee-hee... ;D
If you need help, and have a picture you would live for your avatar, you can either send a private message to "admin" (me) or just put the url in here and i'll get it set for you
Good morning/afternoon to everyone! Heart, I believe WE are the visitors, lol. And we will certainly play nice in our new home. Moon, thanks for the support on how to move around in here. You've done a marvelous job of putting this board together! Hi Kent, thanks for your care and support. As Heart said, we do appreciate it! Not only are we adjusting to a new home, the members already in here are adjusting to new faces and personalities. But from what I can see, it's a very welcoming little community. Hi mmhmm, I just love your little kitty - so cute. Hi mizbear! I just wanted to add a little something about depression, something I've struggled with for a few years now also. It really does not have the stigma it once had, which is why people are now starting to feel comfortable talking about it. There is so much help out there, including message boards like this where there is no judgment, only caring support. Thank you to moonbeam once again for creating this little space for us, for everyone who feels the need to talk.
Heart, I've been at the other board, I asked if you were going to make a (24hour thread over here to.? Also are you going to start some of threads we used at the other board, just wondering?
Thanks Moonbeam! Sorry tmr, I forgot to say hi before. So glad to see you made it! And I can vouch for you, not a trouble-maker in the least, just good, harmless fun!
