So after 10 years on the wait list I finally got the call for Bears season tickets. My number wasn't quite there and I had to take on 3 tickets instead of 2 (I actually wished several years after I put in the initial deposit that I had done it for 3 instead of 2 so this actually works out great).
On the other hand they suck so bad the list almost moved 2000 spots this year so I won't be seeing any playoff games again anytime soon.

I need my Raiders peeps! Iggy aka IG and NoNamePerson! Did you survive last night's game? I thought I was going to have a heart attack at the end, to the point where I thought the extra point had hooked too much and we might be going into overtime. I was SOOOO relieved when the refs signaled that was good.
And outside the Raiders, can we talk about this stupid 10 second run off rule? I would understand it if the clock stopped on a penalty or for an injury, or something that was a team's fault, but when the clock stops because the REFS get the call wrong on the field and the NFL rules require a booth review (the coaches can't ask for a review in this case, its all either upstairs, or in this case, automatic reviews of scoring plays), why are the teams penalized? This was the second game this season where it has had a major effect, though in the last one, it actually determined the outcome of the game. At least here we still had 8 seconds left to get another play off, but still. The refs getting the call wrong and stopping the clock should not penalize the teams. I am hoping that this gets reviewed in the off season and goes away, quickly.

Barely! I messaged a friend saying this game is killing me, and I'm sleepy! I was so done by the end I shed a tear rather than hooting in victory. It's about damn time, Raiders! Just glad Carr and Cooper are back. I think the latter redeemed himself last night.

Don't know how to say this but I have sworn off the NFL this year. I watched pre season and that's it. And I haven't missed it at all. I don't know who plays when or who. And this is someone who started their day with Good Morning Football on NFL channel at 6am every day But glad raiders won. I have no clue about anything else in NFL except what you posted here today.

NoNamePerson - So it's Raiders vs Chiefs, which makes it a big deal no matter what. But the Chiefs are 5-1, leading the division, and the Raiders a 2-4, at the very bottom of the division because even though the Chargers have the same record, the Raiders have lost to the Chargers. So if the Raiders lose last night, there's just no hope for them in the division- meaning it's a rivalry game with real season meaning. The game begins with the Chiefs getting a field goal, but the Raiders respond with agreat with a drive that was basically Carr to Cooper, Carr to Cook, Carr to Cooper for a touchdown. So the offense finally looks like it's on track, but the defense a little less so - in fact Chiefs only punted 2 times all night. And then there's the play where Carr gets hit late, not by one but by THREE Chiefs, and it's not a good hit (there's an unnecessary roughness call on the play). A scrum starts. Lynch, who was on the sidelines runs into the fray. And stupidly grabs a ref and shoves him. Lynch is ejected from the game. I think by the end we had 6 or 7 lead changes, it was a fast based, hard fought game. But we get to the final 3 drives. Raiders are down by 9. They manage to get a field goal. The defense has to stop the Chiefs, and they have not been doing that well. The kick is good, but we can't manage a 3 and out. Still, the defense does end up stopping that drive (last play of the drive was a sack - the only one of the night by either team), but not before the Chiefs have gained enough yards to pin the Raiders back around the 10 yard line. The Raiders start the drive. It's going well, but then we get to 3rd and 11 - and don't make it. But it is the last time the Raiders will have the ball in the game, so there's no reason not to go for it on 4th. Amazingly, they do get it, and keep going down the field. Play starts with 23 seconds on the clock. Long bomb from Carr to Cook. It's caught and the line judge signals a TOUCHDOWN - now all the Raiders need is a PAT to win! But, we're under 2 minutes (in fact, 16 seconds are showing on the clock) and all scoring plays are reviewed. Turns out, the ball did not break the plane before Cook was down - on the half yard line. They reset the clock to 18 seconds (when he was down), BUT this rule that says if, in the last 2 minutes, you go from a stopped clock to a clock that should have been running (if the refs had gotten the call right the first time), there needs to be a 10 second run off. So now we've got only 8 seconds, and the clock will start running the second the ref blows his whistle NOT when the ball is snapped. Crabtree catches the pass in the endzone, TOUCHDOWN, Raiders win with a PAT. Except that they say Crabtree pushed off the defensive back, so it's not a catch. Raiders lose. But WAIT - there's a penalty on the Chiefs, and the game can't end that way, so the Raiders get one more down, no clock. Throw to the back of the end zone, the receiver catches it, but can't land in bounds. Game over, Raiders lose. But WAIT - there's a penalty on the Chiefs, and the game can't end that way, so the Raiders get one more down, no clock. Carr to Crabtree NOT in the endzone, but Crabtree manages to make it in. TOUCHDOWN! Game is tied at 30. We just need the PAT for the Raiders to win. But Giorgio has missed 2 kicks already tonight, and I am terrified we're going into OT. The kick is up, it hooks, I thought it might have hooked too much, and for a moment, I'm thinking OT starting at Midnight eastern, that's a good plan. But no, the refs signal the kick was GOOD. RAIDERS WIN! 31-30.
(For the record, I might have gotten the exact order of some of those last two "incomplete" passes wrong. The end of that game is all a stress filled blur.)

Iggy aka IG - Here's hoping on Cooper. I'm in a keeper fantasy league, and Cooper was my keeper this year. (I also have Cook and Giorgio - the three of the them combined to be worth over 60 points for me last night). I was starting to doubt my decision.
Mind you, we can't have the same keeper two years in a row, and I managed to grab the Jag's Leonard Fournette as one of my RBs, so he's who I'll likely keep this next year, barring injury. My BFF grabbed the Chief's Kareem Hunt (having seen him play against Seattle in the pre-season), so we were joking last night that even though both of us are having rough fantasy seasons this year, we managed to grab the two guys who are currently in contention for Rookie of the Year.

Saw Fournette in college and NFL pre season. Think you made a good choice. He is exciting to watch and before my decision not to watch NFL I was looking forward to watching him since we get a lot of Jags games here.

I really don't understand why they don't fire Goodell? Nfl ratings are dropping?

If your job is to promote the success of a business and you are failing, they usually fire you. Well, except in the world of liberals, where failures are pushed to the forefront as the next great leaders, lol. Maybe he can run on the Dem ticket?

I was addressing the first part of your posting that I quoted in which you stated, "I really don't understand why ...". Perhaps we will have a chance to see if his firing would impact TV ratings. I just know I would not react to his firing by watching more (or less) NFL action.

If the Cleveland Browns are looking for a quarterback who can step in on day one and fit their style of play, I think Sam Darnold proved with his game against Ohio State last night that he is their man.

Well, this is interesting...... three weeks into the season and the Chicago Bears lead their division, I never saw that coming.... Amazing how one defensive person can change a team's destiny.

Love it, after all those years at the basement of the NFL...… to feel the dislike of the rest of the country makes us warm and fuzzy all over!

, zero desire to watch these two teams so I'll miss another Super Bowl. I don't know how Jets/Bills/Dolphins fans maintain any kind of hope, I'll give the credit to the Pats for always taking care of business in the AFC playoffs but they have had a red velvet cakewalk to the division and a game of homefield advantage in the playoffs pretty consistently since 02.

Nah. As top contenders and oft Superbowl champs through the years they are actually matched year after year with some of the toughest projected teams, based on prior year performance. They have six divisional games per year- the other ten are based on merit. The Dolphins usually play the Patriots tough at home, so that is five. I will give you that the other divisional teams have pretty much stunk year after year, and I am flummoxed as to why- all are good football markets. It does make the path to divisional title rather easy, but year after year the Pats are trying for more than that- namely the number one seed in the AFC. They usually have either gotten that or just missed it. That takes more than winning the division. Only 2 games are based off your previous seasons finish (merit), the other 14 are predetermined each season and are the same as your other divisional opponents and consist of 6 divisional games, 4 against a division in the other conference and 4 against another division in your conference. I'm just saying the Patriots have played in the easiest division in the league since they started their run and it gives them a huge advantage to have an easy route to the division which gives them one guaranteed home playoff game each season and playing 6 cupcake games gives them an advantage over other AFC teams in other divisions when it comes to homefield advantage. Honestly I'm jealous, I wish the Bears played in a bad division the next 18 years and would take care of business like the Patriots have during their run. I had that luck in baseball between 00 and 15 when the Cardinals played in the NL "Comedy" Central and had a pretty easy path to the division most years and got to go to a lot of playoff games because of it.

Also, DH can't stand Tony Romo--which I find amusing.
