I don't know much about him, and I'm sure he was still wicked fired up from that stellar defensive play that he made, but damn was he he a jackass in the post game interview! I actually changed the station. no need for that crap. sent from my electronic distraction

The one with Erin Andrews surprised me, honestly. But there has apparently been a lot of talk from Crabtree in the past, so the fact that Sherman was talking back at him did not surprise me at all.

Gives you a MUCH better idea about him than a 20-second interview right after a game. Story

No matter what was going on with Crabtree in the past, Sherman was a really poor sport and a bad reflection on the team. This is why I don't understand interviews seconds after a game. These two guys engaged in a long, hard phyical, mental, emotional and verbal battle. Neither side likes one another. You (Sherman) go up against the one guy you really have bad blood with for the game winning touchdown, and you win. You attempt to shake hands and get pushed in the face. You celebrate with your teammates for a brief second, get even more fired up because YOU saved the game, then get pulled over and asked, "walk me through that last play." Nobody's talking about his interview minutes later with the FOX guys. He was composed and collected. Give the dude a chance to calm down before shoving a microphone in his face.

You have a point, but that is part of being a professional athlete. I've seen many post game interviews, immediately following games, and most players do not act so immature and bitter and quite frankly, foolish. That is not an excuse.
It is a good thing you have Russel Wilson to balance him out, so I will still cheer for them.

I read a really good article this morning, that I've been trying to find since I saw your first post @familycfo. wait, I *just* remembered the retired player from it - Priest Holmes. here's the whole article - linkand the excerpt I wanted to point out - which is pretty much what nalto just said too. just something to think about.

It wasn't just the passion of the game because he admitted he was ticked because of an offseason comment. He may be some great guy off the field, I have no idea, but he was very selfish and immature during that interview.

No, you can't say deliberately. I did get your point, I just don't agree with it.
So in the past, Sherman had a twitter feud with Revis arguing over who is the better corner. He posted a pic on Twitter of Tom Brady after the Seahawks defeated the Patriots with the caption "YOU MAD BRO?". During this game, he made a choking gesture towards Kapernick. Three more example of his immaturity and poor sportsmanship, so this interview was not an isolated incident.
Sherman knew exactly what he was doing. He is smart. He has a huge ego and wants attention. I'm not buying the whole "adrenaline after the game" excuse.
He may do great charity work and do good things for the community and be a great athlete. That doesn't mean he gets a free pass when he acts like a jerk.

Personally I wish the players/coaches would shove the microphones down the talking heads throats. The talking heads are almost ruining the game for viewers. That is why I use the mute button.

Sherman and Crabtree were both mic'd up during the game. Right after the play, Sherman extended his hand, and said "hell of a game." Crabtree shoved him in the face.
Sherman was talking with Brady, as all players do, and Brady said, "come see me after the game." Sherman did, and Brady ignored him.
Sherman talks, but what he's better at than most players that talk is not only backing it up, but getting inside the heads of those he talks to.

I just saw the video of that on the news, so that is confirmed. They also showed Sherman congratulating and hugging two different 49'er players after the shove by Crabtree. So yeah, he was angry, but ONLY at Crabtree.
What I have seen of Sherman is a very smart guy who has a lot of fun with pretty much everything he does. And the accounts I have read are that he doesn't really do that much trash-talking unless someone starts it with him first. And if they do, he will mess them up. He is extremely competitive, and he will not only beat you, but embarrass you. But that is (at least mostly) if the other person starts it.

So you are saying that because Brady ignored him, that excuses Sherman from his action of posting that pic on Twitter? I see lots of excuses from his fans, "adrenaline after the game" "Tom Brady ignored him" "he only talks back when someone else starts it".
Of course there is a lot of trash talking between players. My point is that your team just won a huge game and is on the way to the Super Bowl. Why not use your time to show some positivity for your team at that moment?
Honestly before that interview, I knew very little of Sherman. I'm not sure why it is so difficult for fans to admit he acted like a jerk right after the game. Blaming others isn't an excuse. I never said he was a jerk, I said he acted like one at that time. Nothing more. Now that I have read more about him, I think he is a young and very talented guy and because of that has a big ego. One day he will be humbled and hopefully, will mature as a result.
Btw, Tallguy and Nalto, it is okay to admit you are homers.

Football also isn't made to be played in the summer. It's a fall sport and the college season is when it should be played. If it weren't for the NFL greed, they would be playing it then too. But they kept wanting more games for more $$$$ and have kept extending the season further and further into winter. Now they want to add some more wild card games!! And that will push the Super Bowl even further into February. So much for the NFL's concern about player safety. Let's make those poor idiot players play more and more games with ever increasing danger of crippling injuries and concussions. Who cares as long as we make more money for those greedy owners?
I don't agree with that at all. It all depends on what teams end up going into the Super Bowl and where the Championship game is going to be played. It's not in the same city/stadium every year - and many stadiums now are also covered with domes.
This year it has the bad luck of being played out in New Joisey.
In Canada, The Grey Cup (CFL Final Cup game) is played in late November - which sometimes can be very mild, and other years very cold with snow - depending who the host city is.
It is what it is - and players know what they're going into when they play the sport. They're usually prepared for any climate. Injuries happen - even in summer.

. I had a "discussion" a few years ago with my MIL. She fervently believes Green Bay should host the Super Bowl, mainly because SB 1 was held there. And because "it would be fair!" And I kept telling her it wasn't going to happen. And since then, I think the NFL's confirmed it. There's not enough hotel rooms; there's not enough night life; it's too cold/snowy/pick a weather issue; and the announcers have enough problems finding stuff to show during a home game. What the hell are they going to do for a full week of broadcasting? As for the fairness - life isn't always fair.

What for? Not only is his story too good, but I used to play ball a little bit. I've been around people who do a lot of talking. If they can back it up, you let 'em go. If I couldn't shut someone up by beating them, complaining about it would do absolutely no good. Not only does he back it up, but he has fun doing it. No reason to rip him at all. No matter what (or whose) team he is on. And I don't mind arrogance. I AM arrogant. I'm just not demonstrative about it.

The media can't figure out which is worse - someone who speaks in the excitement of the game or someone who doesn't want to talk to them. Get a grip media idiots you can't have it both ways. I think NFL fined one player for NOT talking to media.
I remember when Bo Jackson was getting some media attention when he was at Auburn. They called him aloof, stand offish and hard to get him to talk to them. Well, it came out that Bo stuttered and he was totally uncomfortable talking to them.
Wanna bet if he had and stuttered, they would have been all over that too. Of course, this was back in the day before 24/7 talking heads.
I hate the TALKING HEADS. I don't see what they add to the game. Most true sports fans don't need a blow by blow - oh he cut his toe nails before the game - sh##

They are definitely all about trying to create a story. They first want to jump all over Richard Sherman for the postgame interview, and then this week were trying to provoke him and getting upset that he didn't fall for it. Their big headline was, "The Mouth That Bored." And the player that was "fined" was Marshawn Lynch a month ago. He spoke for about a minute and a half after one game, apparently the first time all season. Local reporters made a big deal about it, which is apparently the reason the NFL even learned that he had not been speaking earlier. Seahawk fans started contributing money to pay the $50,000 fine, and Lynch thanked them and said he would donate and also match whatever that amount was to charity. The NFL backed off of the fine, as long as Lynch continued to fulfill the media obligations from then on. So he still doesn't like it but will do it so as not to be fined. As an aside, he is doing a TV commercial or two locally now. Shocked me when I saw it the first time. He's just one of those guys who doesn't like to talk publicly or be in front of a camera.
I heard one idea on the radio yesterday that would have been funny. Have Marshawn up on the podium, whispering his answers to one of his more gregarious teammates, and have them answer the question. Have it be like when someone uses a translator, and the 30-second statement is "translated" into a single short-sentence answer. Or the other way around, when five seconds of whispering becomes a one-minute monologue.

Now I would almost pay to see that Didn't Marshawn have someone with him today when meeting with the media? I was half assed listening/watching some coverage today but didn't realize what was going on till to late. I tuned in so late that I'm not even sure it was Marshawn but think so. My attention span with TV sometimes equals that of a gnat!!!!
