Those are used strictly for skin protection against the sun's UV rays which are more damaging in winter when they're reflected off the snow [yep, that's my story and I'm sticking with it]. No snow here in L.A.

All women should wear at the least a bit of powder to cover up the shine, a little mascara to make her eyes stand out, and a bit of blush to give her some color. But that's just my opinion. What shine? Get a little sun once in a while, drink plenty of water, and take care of your skin. I know lots of women who don't wear much make up and none of them are shiny. Since they skip the powder, they can also skip the blush. By not covering up their natural coloring with powder, they don't need to add some artificial coloring back in. All you need is maybe some color on the lips or a bit of something around the eyes, if you want to accentuate either.

If I have a tan I'll go out sometimes without makeup on. Otherwise I think my skin tone's too uneven to go without some foundation. I like the bare minerals stuff. Tan??? I guess it's an aesthetic I don't have. I've never had a tan and I never will. I'm pale. Like, even the palest foundation on the market is too dark for my skin.

I love Bare Minerals Angel. I have way too many of their eyeshadows. I wear the foundation and mineral veil every day. Most days I also have eyeshadow, mascara, and eye liner on. I like the blush from them and this bronzer I got from MAC but I am usually running way too late to do the blush and bronzer. If my eyes are really messed up from allergies I'll skip the eye liner and mascara. I use hypoallergenic stuff but some days the allergies get the better of my eyes. I can't wear anything from MAC except for the lipstick. The lotion and foundation makes me break out in hives.

I have sensitive skin and love bare minerals. It almost feels like I'm not wearing anything. I have super sensitive skin too. I absolutely love the way Bare Minerals feel on my face. I don't feel like I have "bondo" on like RJ calls it. It just gives me a really nice soft finished look.

I wear mascara, that's it, the rest is just too high maintenance for me.

I normally just wear mascara, since I have blonde eyelashes (and skimpy ones too). I only wear make up (also an advocate of Bare Minerals) when I dress up. Then I'll use the foundation, some blush and lip color and occasionally liner.
My skin's in much better shape than my mom's was at my age. Most likely because I've always used a moisturizer with sunscreen in it.

I wear everything when it comes to make-up. Foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara but I don't use a heavy hand at all. I use neutral colors and only apply to enhance my features, not cover them. I also think that wearing foundation had helped my skin to not age too quickly because of the SPF and moisturizing ingredients. Exactly, it's to enhance what you have. I make my own tinted moisturizer by mixing a little foundation with my moisturizer. Evens my complexion and provides minimal coverage, win win. I wear a green-brown eyeshadow and brown eyeliner, with mascara of course. I avoid tanning at all cost, that's just nasty. NO ONE looks good with a tan!

Laziness is my philosophical choice. Me too. I don't tan, but get pretty dark in the summer working outside on a daily basis. If I had to go some place and pay for a tan, I'd be in real trouble, because I'm just too lazy to do it.

I also moisturize every day and use sunscreen. I used to go to the tanner when I was younger, but I don't go anymore. Thankfully I didn't do too much damage to my skin back then. DH also really likes my fair skin. He says itis creamy white and beautiful *swoon*.

I never understood paying for tanning. People will understand if you aren't bronzed in January if you live in Connecticut. Maybe it's because I have absolutely NO need or desire to tan.

LOL! True! Why do people pay for tanning? Well, we all do stupid things when we're young.

LOL! True! Why do people pay for tanning? Well, we all do stupid things when we're young. I'm very pale so in my teens and early 20's I sunbathed constantly and used the tanning beds. I still don't think pale is pretty, but now that I've had Melanoma (thanks to the freaking tanning!) I have learned to live with it.

I don't wear make up. Nobody ever taught me how to apply it and I've never been interested enough to learn. I am not sure if that is laziness or a philosophical decision? Probably a combination of laziness and being cheap. I don't want to take the time to shop for it, apply it or wipe it off and I don't want to pay for it either.

I usually just put on some face powder and mascara for work days. If I am going out or someplace special I will do a more complete job (foundation, blush, eye shadow, sometimes lipstick)

Um, Jen................ I love darker skin and while I have never paid for tanning, I've been known to hang outside in the summer without sunblock. I'm starting to wear it now since the wrinkles are now showing up, but it may be too little too late, I spent 6 summers lifeguarding. I just think I look better with a tan. Brown fat looks nicer than white fat.

I don't tan, I bleach. Maybe not but it doesn't stick if I do get sun all at once like that and the gradual exposure I get is plenty for me. I'm still white as can be but I have no interest at all in "tanning". even less than I have in makeup.
