Pepsi coupons: If anyone doesn't drink Pepsi products, I'd sure appreciate any of the Pepsi coupons coming out this weekend. Not the food coupons, just the pop coupons. Thanks in advance. Can you repost this on Sunday - or send me a PM on sunday? I don't drink Pepsi products so I'd be happy to send if my papers have it. I usually have 4 papers.

Rite Aid: I just got done reading hip2save blog and she has a great scenario for travel size JF Full Repair that is a moneymaker. Has anyone else done that deal? Buy 2 and get a $5.00 UPs, limit 2.

debinwa: Having been married to a guy that owned a restaurant for over 30 years, my advice is: don't do it!! While he really enjoyed the social aspect of the regular customers etc., he worked 6-7 days week, and a minimum of 14 hour days. It is grueling, grueling work. And very unpredictable. During the really good years, I still didn't feel comfortable leaving my f/t employment "just in case" things went south. Well, they went south with a vengance during the recession and we finally made the decision to close. He's not a stay at home kind of guy, and really has no hobbies other than golf, and is not handy at all, so he's content to pick up shifts working for various caterers. Now he gets his socialization skills put to use without all the headaches. He loves it! Says it's the easiest work he's done in his life. I'm just glad he's busy and happy. This was really a hard decision for me. It's a little deli/sandwich shop that has been in our town for 35 years. It's owned by the uncle of our daughter-in-law, and she has worked there for 15 years (since she was a teenager). She was devastated when she found out he was going to close, so we decided we'd look at the possibility of buying it. Unfortunately, after lots of time poring over his income statements and balance sheets, sitting with his bookkeeper, we just decided the numbers don't work. He says he's retiring, but really his business has declined so much that he is really forced to close. I did think it would be fun, especially since she knows everything about how it runs, but I do feel relieved now that we've decided not to buy. He closes early in the day (4 pm) but it's open 6 days a week and it would have been a lot of work. And I'm just too lazy!

Thank you Dancin Mama, Nickleey, MeliBeach, DebinWa, Ooty and OhMomto2boys. I've tried to say thank you every time each of you has shared your condolences - and my apologies if I neglected anyone. Oy - it's hard so hard. I am quite anxious and barely sleeping. Can't help but think I wish I could have stopped her. I'm grateful I have the new house that has so much work because I have things to do to keep me busy - mostly cleaning because the place is disgustingly dirty. It helps to have stuff to do. Leanna, I kind of know how you feel. Years ago, when our son was a teenager, one of his friends got pregnant, and before she could get up the guts to tell her family, she killed herself. It was devastating to say the least, and I remember thinking I wish I had known that she was so upset, or that she felt so bad. Of course, there was probably nothing you could have done for your friend. Life throws some nasty blows, doesn't it? So, so sorry for all you're going through.

Yes, it is really hard, isn't it? I know really that it was not in my control...but I think if you care about someone deeply you can't help but feel you wish you could have stopped them.

Just checking in...I started back to work part time this week and I totally underestimated the sheer exhaustion, physically and mentally. Today I stayed home, tried to do a little housework and now I'm on the couch with advil and the heating pad...recovery is so slow...sigh...
Did a very little drug store hounding this week, just a few freebies here and there to roll some rewards..
Leanna~ so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I work in the mental health field and so many things are hard to understand. Hugs to you...

HOUND ALERT I am looking for the MC for Birds Eye Steamfresh Chef's Favorites variety from the 9/25 SS. The deal is at my Shop Rite and they will be on sale for 0.99 cents. So with the store doubling it will be free! thanks to anyone who can help! Is it me or with the deals being so few and far between have there been really few hound alerts lately?

I did print these but they say Stater Bros. on them. They look like man. q's other than that. Do you think other stores will take them? I don't have a Stater Bros. So, today I spent $52 and bought the following at WAGS, Walmart, and Target: 7 bananas 2.5 lbs. red grapes 1 jar Skippy chunky peanut butter 1 Hunts tomato sauce 2 boxes Raisin Bran 2 pkg. Planters Trail Mix 1 jar Grey Poupon dijon mustard 1 Balance Bar 2 12 oz. pkg. Seattle's Best coffee 1 bottle Rex Goliath merlot 1 large bag Kettle chips 1 bag tortilla chips 1 4/pk Hawaiaan sandwich rolls 1 6/pk sandwich thins bread 1 gallon milk 8 Yoplait yogurt 15.2 oz package Gallo lite salame 1 box Idahoan scallop potatoes 2 pkg. Disney vitamins 2 pkg. Crave cat treats 3 lb. bag Purina One cat food 4 12 pack Schick disposable razors 2 Colgate Optic White toothpaste 1 box Puff tissues 1 Aussie hairspray 4 3pack Cascade complete dishwashing tabs 1 pkg. dishwasher cleaning agent What do you all think? How did I do? The coffee and wine were the costliest items: $6.04 for each coffee and $5.99 for the wine. Did use 2/$1.50 q's on the coffee so $9.08 total for the coffees. This is all stuff we use. I still need to get some more produce items at Safeway: some oranges and apples.

You shouldn't have a problem using them - they are scanable with standard mq barcode. And there's no "good ONLY at" so they're totally legit. They are just "sponsored by" in a sense Stater Bros.

Buy 2 JF Full Repair travel shampoos, pay $3.18 and get $5.00 in UPs back. The deal was listed on her site yesterday, the 29th.

For people who get the $/$ from CVS, check your online accounts - I had 2 4$/20 Qs and the bar code is different on each one. HTH

Hellp Ladies.
FoodSaver .. what's the general opinion on this. Meijer has a sale today where after the sale + $10/1 Q my OOP would be ~$7. Are these things a good investment or would upkeep(buying bag etc) make this an expensive tool to own? I have a lot of meat in the freezer, so freezer burn is a concern.
I'm open to FREE or FREAP ideas to prevent freezer burn. Does anyone stockpile yogurt or Seasonal fruits like berries? Can these items be frozen and thawed while maintaining the texture/flavor successfully?
Thanks

I am going to buy some for Christmas for my in laws who use it a lot. I have one that I don't use much (out of sight, out of mind) but plan to start! The bags are NICER than the original Food Saver bags. You should try them - The Hunters Butcher Shop Vacuum Bags" www.thehuntersbutchershop.com/category-s/66.htm

I had been stockpiling mostly meats that are prepackaged to prevent freezer burn, but I am also experimenting with the Ziploc vacuum bags (cheaper than food sealer cuz I can get them free after coupons and rewards). I put the meat (usually more expensive cuts of beef) in a regular Ziploc sandwich bag and then put that in a Ziploc vacuum bag and suck out the air. That way I can toss the sandwich bag and reuse the vacuum bag. I just started doing this a few months ago, so the jury is still out on it, but all indicators are that it should work fine.

Thanks sooo much for the info! I did what I think is my last Shoprite trip for their Kraft cat deal. This week I bought, 24 Maxwell House 10 oz cans coffee $2.99 X 24 = $71.76 8 Nabisco 12 pack sng serve cookies $2.88 X 8 = $24.93 2 jars Planters honey roasted peanuts $2.49 X 2 = $ 4.98 For a grand total of $100.68 OOP and I got back $120 in cats! There is nothing there we won't eat either. I would like to think that the coffee would last 4 months and the snack pack cookies would last through the school year but realistically that is probably a pipe dream. The peanuts I have no illusion that they will last past next week. The cats are a little limited in that they are only good for Kraft and Nabisco items but that includes such a wide varity I know I will have no problem finding stuff to get with them. Thanks to Dancin and everyone who encouraged me!

Thanks to Dancin and everyone who encouraged me! beachbum: If you made a profit in CATs buying items that you will use anyway, there is really no way that you can lose. You are doing an awesome job!! You're pretty lucky having a store that doubles coupons AND offers pretty good CAT deals from time to time. Especially now more than ever I would advise you to "get while the gettin' is good" when you know that something is a great deal. Like the drug chains, you just never know when the gravy train is going to slow down or end. I think we all second guess just how much we should stockpile something from time to time - I STILL do it. More times than not, I kick myself for not having stockpiled more. One of the things I would suggest is to go up and down the aisles and make a kind of wish list of Kraft and Nabisco products that you might like to stockpile (Kraft sells all sorts of stuff). Then look for sales for those items during the expiration period on the coupons. If you wait until toward the end and none of the items have gone on sale at a rock bottom price, you haven't really lost anything. Anyway, GREAT JOB; keep up the good work. Your pocketbook will thank you. ;D

Will this cheaper work for meats? On reading the description, I have a feeling ..maybe not. Thanks

This makes me wonder if I need it, it didn't really until I started stockpiling meat. Also this ~$7 deal is the cheaper hand-held one.

Hi Everyone! Instead of buying the expensive FoodSaver, buy regular plastic freezer bags, put the food in, stick a straw in the corner, seal the bag as much as possible around the straw, and suck out the air? It sounds weird, but it works like a charm! We do this every year when we want to freeze some of our tomatoes from our garden. Hope this helps!
