On behalf of suzi and all of the gals here, WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to the Grocery Challenge from me - dancinmama!! If you have never clipped a coupon, or even if you have been using coupons for years, we'd love to have you join us. We are a crazy, fun-loving, and very friendly group of gals just chatting with one another about how to save big money using coupons. We are willing to help anyone, at any level, in any way that we can. Don't think that you have to read through the pages and pages of posts to join in - most of it will be old, out-of-date information anyway. Just go to the last page of the thread and introduce yourself. Tell us what area of the country you're from and where you shop (grocery stores, national chain stores, Target, WalMart, etc.). We'd love to have you join us on a regular basis, so don't be shy - just jump right in, have some fun, and save a ton of money in the process!! NEWBIES/OLDIES: If you post a HOUND ALERT requesting coupons from others, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE also post which insert/where the coupon can be found (Example: 1/2 SS) so that we can find it easily without having to research it ourselves. ALSO, if you need the coupon for a specific deal, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try to remember to post the deal with your HOUND ALERT so that someone who may have the coupon(s) can decide whether they want/need to do the deal before sending out any of their coupons. THANKS!! POSTING ABOUT A DEAL / HOT COUPON: Some people get overwhelmed by the number of posts and only have time to skim the posts for the information that they need the most. If you are posting a deal, please post something that makes it stand out like "CVS DEAL ALERT" or if you are posting to tell us that there is a new, hot coupon available, please post something like "$3/1 WHOLLY GUACAMOLE IP ALERT". We want to make this thread as fun, friendly, and helpful as possible. These suggestions will save EVERYONE a lot of time when they are trying to "catch up" and read through past posts. Now let's have fun!!

I keep seeing this thread each month, and have never caught it early enough to feel comfortable piping up as a rookie. I'm a longtime poster, absolutely green to the coupons thread. Irene has afforded me an opportunity to start from scratch (my fridge/freezer, at least!) this month. I do use coupons, but only when I think of it or it is convenient...if that helps any chiver: WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to the Grocery Challenge from me - dancinmama!! ;D Feel free to jump in at any time. The thread is just an ongoing discussion of any deals, ideas, tips, etc. about getting your food/household/hygiene items as cheaply as possible - sometimes even without coupons. Sorry to hear that Irene caused you to lose everything in your fridge/freezer. OMG, I can't imagine that happening to me!! Most of us use coupons as a habit. We try to buy the things that we use on a regular basis in our meal planning and in our household when we see them on sale at rock bottom prices and buy enough to last us until the expiration date on the product or until the next sale (because sales on stuff goes in cycles). If we can find a rock bottom sale AND can use a coupon for each item that we buy - all the better. The gals on here are very friendly. No matter what type of foods you eat or products that you buy, we are here to help - from someone who eats mostly processed foods to people who are into organics. Let us know what area of the country you are from (obviously back East) and where you usually shop (grocery stores/drug chains, etc.). There may be someone on here who lives in the same area or shops at the same stores who can direct you to a good blog that might be of help or help you personally through PMs or emails.

I appreciate your kindness and I will enjoy a few capers at Safeway! chiver: So sorry to hear about your circumstances, but welcome to the GC. We'll be happy to help you restock. leanna: Where did the Carmex coupon come from? I think I remember seeing it somewhere, but didn't pay attention.

leanna - If you ever want to get into a heated debate about which brand of lip balm is best, bring up the topic with a bunch of hard-core band geeks. 10 years of band geekiness right here, and I'm a die-hard cherry chap stick brand fan. Though there were those couple of months in college I changed from cherry to strawberry because of a slightly traumatizing event involving my saxophone, the guy I had every single class with, and a comparison between playing each other's instruments and french kissing. Don't ask.

Ok, so I went to my local WAGS yesterday to see if they had gotten in the Gatorade Prime & Recover as I had 2 of the free RR's for them and they expire today, well imagine my surprise they actually had them in AND the RR's were still printing for a free prime & recover. Sooo, for $6.72 OOP (I also had a $10 RR from the Estroven) I snagged 15 Primes, 15 Recovers, 2 of the Carmax and 2 of the Maxwell house 11oz coffee (reg & decaf, we like to mix it). oh and one of the halloween reeses. And in return I got 2 $1.50 RR's, a $5 egiftcard to Foot locker, (this came up in my 1st trans as I didn't know it was still giving the RR's and had used both of my initial free ones together), and I still have another RR for a free Prime and Recover. Yes, it was many trans but I went in a couple of different times w/different cashiers and they didn't have a problem w/it. So over $100 worth of product for less than $10 and my DD will use it as she does weightlighting for the HS and karate. I usually never get anything worthwhile from WAGS.

Good morning. Went to Giant Eagle before work this morning because I had some coupons expiring today and the new sale started today. It was so nice when I was checking out that the cashier asked me how I did my coupons. I told her that I follow a blog (sistersshoppingona shoestring) about GE and they do all the work for you....all you have to do is find/print the coupons and follow your list. She wrote down the site. She was impressed and I was excited to see someone else wanting to save some $ on products they use.

Dancinmama: I got your envie, too! Thanks so much. I hope you can use the ones I clipped from the MDA book. If there are any specific ones from there that you want, let me know and I can send those--except the Motts which I gave to my son. Glad I was able to scrounge up two for you!

murpath - I will neither confirm nor deny that in regards to band geeks in general. I will say that I loathe that movie. I will also say that MY band geeks (Yes, I was their leader which makes me president of the geeks) were slightly better behaved than that. After all, many of us were in the same youth group, and I had to be a good example. *snort*

It is priced the same as the regular, but is 1/2 caf. The Maxwell House decaf is usually more expensive than the regular or the Lite so buying (2) Lite would be less expensive than buying one regular and one decaf and you don't have to mess with mixing them - that is if you want 1/2 caf. HTH ;D

REPEAT HOUND ALERT: Murphath was able to send me (2) of the Motts coupons from the Safeway MDA booklet, but I am looking for a few more if anyone has them. I have a rain check such that the Qs would allow me to get a 6-pk. for $.67 with Qs. TIA ;D

OHHH, just found out why I hadn't heard much, there is no coupon involved anymore. DARN!

I got a couple of great deals at Safeway this morning: They have 30 oz. Best Foods mayo on sale for $2.49 when you buy 4. There is a coupon in the MDA book for 50c off 2. I had heard rumors that there was a $2 cat printing when you buy 2, so I anxiously waited and was happy to receive two of them! So I got four jars for less than $5. These cats will roll also, so I might go get four more. My grown kids shop my pantry pretty heavily! I also got a good deal on the Jose Ole frozen taquitos. There is a SW coupon in their ad this week for them for $2.99 each, and there are printable coupons for $1 off 1, or insert coupons from a recent Smart Source (I'm thinking 8/21). Because the sale price without coupon is $3.99, four boxes qualifies for the $5 off $15 Frozen Food coupon. I used the $2.99 ad coupon, the $5/$15, and four $1 manufacturers coupons. Paid less than $3 for four boxes. If you live someplace where Safeway doubles coupons (I don't ), this could be an even better deal for you! Thanks again, dancin, for the FF coupons!

She's a real PITA. skubikky: Are you talking about the thread that dividend started about how to make and shop for foods for cheap and healthy meals WITHOUT using coupons? I already responded to GG. She's just stirring the pot (as usual). ETA: Nope. It was a different thread. She's PO'd because she thinks that you HAVE TO HAVE a budget to have a handle on your money. We've just never had one. When I say, "It's not in our budget", it means, "I don't want to spend the money on it".

Hey again everyone! Long time no talk! I have been lurking here and there but I hope to be back daily again! I do have a hound alert for donating to our local humane society I could use as many of the $2/1 Purina Beyond One coupons I can get. It was in the 8/21 SS Insert. Drop me a message for my address if you don't have it as well as what coupons you would like in return.
