Hello Friends!

Here is an update. Sorry for the huge gap. We've refinanced and moved things around and it made me want to avoid the whole picture for awhile. I think I've got my spreadsheet figured out so that it all makes sense and accurately reflects where we are at.

Hiya folks! I think it's been, oh, YEARS since I updated here. The last entry I could find is:

The only debt I'm actively racing here is my student loan and since this update it's gone down down down slowly. The interest rate is just 2.5% and since I have business loans/debt that I prioritize those are getting paid down first. Thankfully I'm in a really good place in my business and able to pay cash for everything we do including paying a team, some pretty expensive software and travel for conferences and such. I think once these 2 loans are under $500 I'll pay 'em off in a swoop. For one that should be next month, the other by Spring.

Hi Everyone, it is LONG overdue, but here is a not-so-detailed Galactic State of the Union update! Sorry that I don't have everyone's clubs, but you can view the individual club threads for updates.

This is the official Galactic State of the Union for the Women in Red Racers. The GSOTU takes progress from all five WIRR Regions and combines the data to tell us everything there is to know about HOW MUCH debt we have blasted! The five regions sometimes like to compete amongst themselves to meet goals to further the progress of our group as a whole. The five regions are:

Northeast – The Stormin’ Nor’Easters
South – The Dixie Debtinators
West – The West Rebel Faction
Midwest – The Weapons of Mass Debtstruction
International – The Planet Earth Debtstroyers

As of 1/28/14, the WIRR as a total group have paid off $18,134,781.85 in debt! (A difference of $2,022,759.40 since 3/31/2012, or almost $1 MILLION PER YEAR!)

How about a new February debt challenge?

Last month we did -- take whatever day on the calendar it is, and add that amount to your debt... so if you pay your bills on the 5th, you'd add $5 to your bill.

How about this month we do the interest from your savings accounts? I know I have like 4 or 5 accounts at Capital One 360 that get a few pennies and dimes each month... Instead of just letting them float around, i can plan on trying to send them to my mortgage. Thoughts?

Ambellamy - Here is what I do. My new mtg payment is $823 so I round that up to $850/mo. This is the mortgage I am not racing. So a little extra every month without shooting myself financially in the foot.

Most of my extra money goes to the 2nd mortgage. Reg bill is $314.41/mo I pay $514.41/mo (or more) to get to my goal of having it paid off in about 3 years. Hopefully sooner but I refuse to stretch myself thin. 

Once I get the 2nd mtg paid off the amount to the 1st mtg will go up. It all depends on things I have no control over. I know about several things coming up in the future but not the costs or when they will happen. I can only plan and re-evaluate those about every 6 months.

So I decided, what the heck, to do an update.  We have grown by one (Thanks startsmart!) since our last update and that is reason enough for me. 
 

Sealy - for some reason I can't see the tickers on my computer.  It's a great way to make an update but I will need a tag line as well.  Boo!  Hiss!

Now that I have some roses should the past column on these be zeros for example
the SL still shows $50 in the PAST column. 


Goal:  I'd like to have an extra mortgage and an extra car payment completed by
June 30.  That way I won't have to worry about whether they will be taken care
of in July.

sealy, I think in your table, the "past" column represents what the debt was on your last payment.  So, some of those would be $0 because you've paid them off a while ago.

I will be doing my update on monday but I had to share.

I was looking at my 1st mortgage and I noticed the additional amount I was paying was not showing. I phoned the mtg company and they had the money just hanging out in a seperate area doing nothing! I asked them to apply any extra on the principal of the loan. They used to do it all the time with the old loan but someone forgot to make the note in the computer. 

So if you refinance make sure any extra money is being applied correctly!

Looks like next month that little crying dude gets to go away! Which will be so nice since he's been haunting me for some time. Before my refinance, the lowest my mortgage has ever been was $109,513.76... if we can't manage to send any extra to the mortgage, come May i'll finally have my balance lower then when we rolled in those closing costs and I can't wait for that!!!!

Good news I'm on the road to financial recovery. Soon I'll be able to start saving. My tax refund was most likely taken by Uncle Sam. Which means I'm almost finished paying him off.
