antevasin: You are so close to having 50% paid, then you will be on the downward slide. Not sure why, but mentally, that really has given me an extra push (I hit the 50% paid mark in July). You are also very close to being below $100K so you have lots to look forward to!! I feel a happy dance coming on!!!!! nidena: It has been a long while since we have had a Galactic update. But, then again, I don't remember the last time I saw a 50-100K update either. I worry that the WIRR is slowly slipping into oblivion. I do know that the updates certainly give me a lift and help me to see my progress. I find myself signing on less and less without the updates to look forward to. I think that the people who were doing it, stopped, but didn't have anyone else to take over. I use to love the smiley updates as well. All of them were just a different way of seeing the progress we made. Unfortunately, sometimes we need those motivators to stay on track. I was really down a few months ago, feeling like I just wasn't getting anywhere, but hitting the 50% mark really helped me. I feel like I've got my 2nd wind. I have reduced one of my mortgages to under $20K, just seeing that smaller figure motivates me. It was hard imagining back when that was over $60K that I would be able to pay it off, but now that it is under $20K, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am also fairly confident that I can pay that off by May 2014, so I'm now counting down the months (8 more payments). I think seeing my 2nd "0" will certainly give me another push. I got my first "0" over two years ago so it is time I get another. It is hard to stay motivated when it is such a long journey. I would love to hear other people's tips on staying motivated!!

I have to apologize I posted my update the other day, but my charts did not paste well. So if anyone has any suggestions on how to post updates without creating a new chart every time, I am all ears (and eyes). I have been so busy the past few weeks, I almost forgot to post an update. I have been working a lot of overtime this week. Between the overtime and working Labor day (2.5 x's), I will have CC#3 paid off by my next update. I would have like to have paid off CC #3 with this update, but I paid cash for plane tickets to go to my mom's 70th birthday bash in Philly in October. I also paid cash for a timeshare trade for a family vacation in Cancun in April. So although I am a little anxious to finish my race, I am looking forward to a little bit of financial freedom in my upcoming adventures (and in my overall life). I am not sure who said they were not feeling very motivated because of not seeing updated lists. This is what I have to say regarding this: Yes the updates were very motivational to continue with this race. However, I have found motivation from imagining the freedom in my life will have because I am no longer making the minimum and the $200 automatic payments/month on stuff that I bought years ago. So with every payment I make, I am breathing easier and feeling lighter. I am also eating healthier because I can now afford to (go figure). I have gone back to going to yoga 3x's/week. Overall, I am healthier mentally, physically, and financially. I have absolutely had my ups and downs over the years. So my suggestion is to just focus on what your life can become when you do not have debt any longer, and that will be your beacon to guide you and motivate you through this race.

Lucy: I wish I could do it, but my access is at work so I have about 5 minutes to check in, and I am not computer savvy at all. I wish I was!! Do we need so many lists? Is there a way to group the lists and then have less people doing them, but perhaps taking turns?

I had said I would pick it back up, I used to do them when I had access to a system with Office 2010 (which is what the spreadsheets are kept in). a system update wiped out the installation, and I don't remember where I put the install disks, so I haven't been able to use it for awhile now. that said, I get a new work laptop next week. it will have Win7 (ugh..) and Office 2010, so I can start doing that again. I totally agree that I get motivation from seeing my numbers all go down, but it's still nice to be recognized by people that are in the same boat and working hard toward the same goals.

My motivation on the 100K list was seeing those who had started with way more debt than me who were still plugging away. "If they can keep going, so can I." I like the other lists too and am looking forward to the day that I am no longer on the 100K list--about a million years from now. Update coming this afternoon.

UPDATE
Wudnit 10/1/13 $78,034 (1/13/10 $172,915 NEU46)
This is my 10/1 update, but I always post a bit early as I have mailed my payments (including the additional payment I make to the apartment mortgage) and the apartment mortgage has been scheduled. I'm still amazed that I'm below $100,000. It seemed to take forever to get there, but now things seem to be moving ahead nicely. If all goes well, I should be able to pay off two mortgages next year which will leave just the Home Equity. That would be nice since I haven't seen a zero for awhile (not since 12/11). I should also get to $100,000 PAID by the end of the year. Lots of great motivators coming up. I'm hoping to have the apartment paid off in 7 more payments or less.
Maryland Monroe: Great plan to continue to pay the same amount to your mortgage to pay off early!! Way to stay focused!
ALL: Board has been pretty quiet. I wonder if now that fall is here if it will pick back up again. Hope all are doing well on their journey to debt freedom!!!

Got an offer from my bank today that they will match 50% of any additional payments made to my HEL, up to $6000, between 1 Oct 13 and 31 Oct 14. I think, even though I owe a few thousand $$ on my CC, that this is an offer that I should not let pass by. I owe only $25k on my HEL. If I maximize the offer, it would be down to $7k come November of next year.

EF=$331.03My 0% balance transfer on CC#1 has ended. This means that there is likely a new balance transfer in my near future. My trip has been mostly booked and also mostly not paid. This means that part of the balance that's on my "current expenses" credit card is going to show up as part of a balance transfer. My LOC balance is at zero, but don't be too impressed. It's not likely to be there next time I update. This is just a function of how I plan my finances. I often use the LOC for an advance a few days before I get paid. It all depends on when my bills are scheduled to be paid. There will probably be some shuffling of my balances in the next month or two. It's a way for me to keep my interest charges minimized. I have no problem with balance transfers as long as they keep me moving in the right direction. I am going to look like a bit of a hypocrite next month as my balances possibly go up. I have some seasonal expenses that come up, and I did book my trip. Since this is my first year still, I am confident that next year the seasonal jump will not be as bad, or will not happen at all, because I have been putting some money away to deal with the expenses. For now I am pleased to see a balance under $300,000, even though I know this will probably be a one month event this time. -movinonup

My update for September, 50% mark, however my tuition bill came in and so I'll be taking a hit next month. However, as long as I'm making regular payments in, I know I'm at least progressing despite the regression in the overall balance paid.

Hello Ladies! I will be taking over the $50K - $100K Club! I plan to do the updates every other Sunday the same as I do with the $100K List. I see many familiar faces so hopefully you are used to, and like my update format. I am doing one update this week, just to get all my sheets together, and then I will do another one next week and every 2 weeks after that. Please let me know if you need me to change anything. Race on ladies! $3,540.86 paid off since the last update! One Leapfrog, Wudnit from the Northeast jumping 3 spots!! www.notmsnmoney.proboards.com/thread/11190/wirr-50-100k-club?page=4#scrollTo=1738787

Still turtling along … My Disney card went up a little because I charged some things that I bought for Christmas but I have $550 worth of payments scheduled in the next 5 weeks so I am not even going to worry about it. The next 11 months are going to be the true test of how well I am doing. I was asked to be a bridesmaid in 3 weddings between August and September of next year. Two of them are cousins and one of them is my best friend. I started putting aside $25 a week from my paycheck to pay for the various expenses and I know that at least one of them will be very minimal costs because my cousin is in her 40’s with kids already so she isn’t doing the whole shower/bachelorette party thing. I am thinking I should be able to pay cash for all the expenses and gifts with the money that I am putting aside and I can always adjust the contribution to increase it if I need. I also just had my tires rotated and my mechanic implied that by the end of next year I was going to need all new tires – around a $1,000 expense for a 4WD SUV so that is something that I am going to have to start saving for as well. I am now looking at having that Disney card paid off in January or February instead of before the year end and then I will still be transferring over some of the Discover balance. I have been following the boards weekly and it seems like a lot of people have dropped off. I am trying to recruit my mother and sister to join but I don’t think either of them are ready to address their spending issues yet. Wishing everyone a happy fall!

It has been awhile since I've posted a table. Progress is definitely being made.
