ldawngirl: 4/27/14 $3,569 (11/15/2013 $7,560, IU55)
VISA - $2,338 Car loan - $1,231
$3,991 (52.8%) paid off
Latest update! The Visa is slow going, but the car is zipping along. Only 5 more payments and it is gone! The plan when it's paid off is to use that money towards the Visa until it's gone as well. My hope is to have everything paid off by the end of 2014. It could be done sooner, but we have a lot of trips and weddings this year, so I want to be realistic. Thankfully I'm able to combine some trips/weddings with work, so the costs are partially covered.
How's everyone else doing? Spring has finally arrived here (better late than never, right?), so we're trying to tackle some home maintenance projects without breaking the bank.

Congrats zs! At first I read "So I'm knee deep in..." and I was thinking things were going to get graphic! hahaha I'm sure it'll be a huge relief when baby comes to know that your debt is a fraction of what it once was!

ldawngirl LOL. Too funny. Thanks so much. We're pretty excited/scared/nervous. haha. As this will be our first!! But yes you are right.. I'm so glad my debt has decreased significantly since then. We do have some other debt that I haven't listed - all reno related! But we figure we'll get this out of the way now then work on paying it down over the next little while. As doing renos with kids is near impossible (as I've been told!)

So the teachers' union here gave their strike notice. The strike officially starts on Tuesday but on Monday, they are holding study sessions off school property. They were already holding rotating strikes around the province so, unless an agreement is reached soon, Thursday was DD's last day of school (Friday was our district's strike day). It was supposed to be June 26th.
The teachers were urging their students to check the "lost and found" box earlier in the week and DD is pretty sure she brought everything home. However, one of her friends forgot to clean out in her desk on Thursday. Among the many things she forgot were her reading glasses. Hopefully, her mom will be able to reach someone at the School District office and make arrangements to pick them up. I doubt S's mom can afford to buy new glasses just because S was twitterpated that day.
The schools' on my side of town were going to let their Grade 7s have informal dances run by the PACs and volunteer teachers. However, the govt locked the teachers out a couple of weeks ago so they had to cancel their plans. The lock out meant teachers were only allowed on school grounds 45 minutes before classes started, 45 minutes after classes ended and that they had to leave school grounds at lunch. The different groups got together and rented the local community centre. It was easier for me because all I had to do was find $10.00 for the ticket instead of make some kind of snack and chaperone. I think this was better because there were more kids there and DD got to share her "Grade 7 Grad" with my cousin's DD and some of her other non-school friends. So far, it sounds like everyone had a great time. All of the girls looked far too beautiful and grown up in their finery.
For the most part, DD will be staying home alone this summer. Hopefully the DAB next door will be too busy feeling superior to cause trouble. BC doesn't have an official age where you can leave children home alone which means that your child can be 17 years and 364 days, and someone can call the cops and social services on you. It is entirely up to the discretion of the attending officers whether or not your child is considered mature enough to be alone. And I don't have a very high opinion of many of the officers in town.
According to DD, last Saturday when DD took the rolling suitcase to walk to a sleepover, DAB commented to her husband that she knew who the teenaged runaway was going to be from our street. Well, DAB, you might consider it normal to never be more than 20 feet away from your DD until she's 18, but I'd rather DD was staying out of trouble because I taught her better, not because I never gave her a chance.

Consolidation of the WIRR Boards Just wanted to let people know that we’re planning to consolidate the WIRR regions into a single group/thread. This will help facilitate more discussion & accountability, and the updates. I’m not sure when this will happen, but it should be sometime in the near future. More to come!
