Good idea, EL1504, to post updates on both sites in the meantime. Hey, does that mean I'll have (gasp) TWO end-of-race parties?

I nearly managed to make my end of year goals on the loan(missed by £28) and did reach my goal for CC2. Before end of year I'll check in again with my goals for 2011 I hope you all have a wonderful holiday period Ps Writer- way to go!!!!!!!! Babbler

Hi all! I'm still recuperating from my surgery - just taking it easy at home. It's a good time of year to be laid up as it's cold here! I'm definitely getting better and will hopefully be off crutches soon. And a benefit to not being able to go out - I've been saving money!
I didn't quite make my 2010 goal on my PL, as I wanted it be at 10,000, but I've got all my other zeros, so I'm happy. I need to sit down and figure out what my 2011 goals are. I'd like to have the PL paid off, but that's probably not feasible while also saving money and paying for the wedding. I'll crunch the numbers before the end of the year and report back!
Happy Holidays everyone!

financiallyfreeinbc 12/24/2010 $0!!!!!!!!!!! (01/05/2010 $28 343.05 IU13)-100% paid
Done. We are done.
OMG we are finally done!!!!
I am pretty much speechless with the realization.
Thanks to Spirit, Gail VazOxlade and THIS GROUP for the strength, the kick in the pants and the support that were vital in our ability to make this a reality. I will still lurk (and probably post) so that I have continued inspiration and give my support to others who are facing the same hard road. I also want to be there for many others’ celebrations!!!
Gratitude-My DH (without his cooperation, finally, this would never have been possible.), my family and friends who have cheered us on and been positive when I haven’t been, that DH got the other ½ of his holiday pay on this cheque, which paid for Xmas, that I have 4 more weeks to save like a fiend before DH’s job is no more and that I have $4000+ saved to carry us through once he is off. You-all of you who have listened to me rant, whine and complain… I have only been with the boards for 50 weeks and you all have taken me under your wing, given amazing advice and hugs when needed. I am beyond grateful for you.
Happy holidays to all.
Writer-Thank you so much! We just had a glass of champagne to celebrate our race win. I still have a bottle in the fridge for you. You rock!
Minnesota and other administrators-thanks for the updates and the smiley's-they were like "good job" stickers for my soul.

The smileys here are weird. The one I put in my previous post was just a regular : D (without the space), but when animated, he looks like he's crying!!

Agreed, IDawnGirl. The "undecided" smiley I attached to another post looks like she's eating popcorn, the "wink" looks like a devil, and the "plain ole smiley is an angel with wings.
Countdown to final loan payment: 9 days !!!

Here I am, finally. Again a HUGE congrats to FFBC, and to Yogini!
We got GREAT but expensive news today: DD was accepted to one of her two first choices for college!
The other school has a competitive exam in February, so I will put down a deposit to this school to reserve her place. I prefer the other school, although I will still be thrilled if DD ends up going to this one. DD is not sure which of the two she prefers, so I prefer to keep her options open even if it means losing the deposit.
I will be SO SO SO happy to write that check!!!
ETA: I decided to lose the "2007" part of my name since it is soon four years out of date!

FYI - IDawnGirl and others ! Some kind soul added a bunch of normal-looking smilies to the reply form. They're located on the left of the message box. Use the pull-down menu to select the one you want. It will be previewed in the small box, whereupon you simply double-click it for insertion into your message. Have fun!

DH-Congrats on your DD getting into her college of choice! I can't imagine how crazy things will be with tuition (or maybe I can since I am looking at going back to get my undergrad degree!) but you have ingenuity, patience and a great set of skills.... it will all work out!!!
Thank you FFBC ... I am starting to worry. I can't decide whether to broach the subject of tuition with my ex or with his mother (my ex MIL) since she was the one who offered / promised to help with DD's college costs. I wanted DD to call her herself but she doesn't know her grandparents very well and I think she will be reluctant. Also my ex is away so I can't call him now.
I'm thinking I will call my ex MIL to announce the good news, and hopefully they will bring it up. I also can't decide whether to just tell them the tuition and let my ex and his parents work things out between themselves, or whether to suggest a "game plan" (ie splitting tuition in thirds between the grandparents, my ex, and me.) If they then turn around and pay his third, well, that's their prerogative. But at least I know I can afford a third.
The other wild card here is that for DS1 and DS2, my ex offered to pay for their college and grad school in exchange for me renouncing my CS payments for them. Which I did. But, as much as things have improved for us since I joined the boards in May 2007, I still need the CS for DD to make ends meet. It would be totally disingenuous of my ex to do that, because it is stipulated in our divorce decree that he owes CS till the kids are done with their educations. And DD will be living at home, costing him (or his parents since I don't know who pays what) MUCH MUCH MUCH less than what he paid for DS1 and DS2 to go away for college and grad school.
Again, I know that nobody owes DD tuition or anything else, but as I have said (and deleted) the family has given / is giving my DS1 and DS2 a totally free ride for undergrad AND grad school AND room AND board AND pocket money AND travel expenses, so yes, I do feel they should "pony up" for DD as well, at least to some extent.
I almost called my ex MIL today but I lost my nerve. Maybe tomorrow.
I hope you check in and let us know how things are going for you!
And thank you Writer.

Good news!!! I called my ex MIL and they have offered to pay for half of DD's college tuition. What a relief!!! I can swing the other half.

I made it, it was so easy. Well it was easy after I got a computer to do it on, 1 kid on games, DH sleeping in my sewing room for nights, with my computer, 1 kid on her laptop, 1 kid on dora games, and 1 kid playing sims. Mom watching tv and reading. So many and I can't get on (we have so many simply because DH builds them as a hobby). Great news on the college for your daughter DH.
