Washington Post article. Trump's next claim will be he's a trillionaire. Trump claims 200 million Americans ‘love’ him. How many actually do? One! Since the word "love" is used I posit there is exactly ONE person in this world who loves him. Others may have some feelings for him based on their expectations of reciprocity or usefulness but the orange paint addict is the only one who loves him and whom he loves.

I definitely just hung up on my sister. in the middle of her yelling at me because I wasn't 100% listening to her when she called while I was still working, I had the nerve to tell her I needed to take another call from my landscaper. and then I was the idiot that called her back, where she picked up where she left off and meandered her way to telling me I was an awful person for walking past the Walmart employee stationed at the exit to check receipts. bitch, please. what?? just, no. She sounds like a real piece of work. Let's put it this way: I am not trading one of my sisters in for her. Not in this universe or any other.

Pensions, at least in the private sector, can be a fickle thing. When I started at the company I retired from (22 years later) the promised pension was based on your last 3 years salary. I forget what the exact percentage was. And there was a very good retirement health care deal. Fast forward about 5 years and they changed the formula based on an annual earnings formula, so the early, lower paid years came into play, and the healthcare part became an "allowance" to cover the cost of a Medicare supplement. Then came a series of corporate takeovers. And the very first one did away with the pension. We kept what had been earned to that day but that was it, no COLA ever. And the healthcare allowance died a quiet death, it just disappeared. There was a voluntary contributory part to the pension while it was in place. It was just 1% of your salary and it increased your payout considerably. Fortunately I had been smart/lucky enough to sign up for that and my pension now is a nice addition to my income. Since there is no COLA it will become less over time of course but I'll take it.
All this to say that pensions may not be as safe as they look. Things can and do change. Probably less in the public sphere but never say never...

I didn't have a family that could pay for college. I did my first year living at home. It was difficult to commute to school and hold down a full time job at the grocery store, so I dropped out and worked, took college courses here and there, etc. Bottom line, it took me a lot longer to get my degree. Imagine if I'd been able to graduate in four years. I would have been earning more money, paying more in taxes, and spending more to boost the economy than I did. In my country college was tuition free. But housing was not and my family did not have the resources to help pay for that (I am one of seven). Public transportation was mostly good and heavily subsidized for students. We lived in the middle of nowhere so my "exciting" student time went as follows: - leave the house at 6am to walk 20 minutes to the bus stop. That early there was like 2 hours between buses. Later in the day that was better - once an hour. - 30 minute bus ride -walk to grandma's house and wait for about an hour before walking to the train station. One mile each way followed by a 40 minute train ride - the easy part - just a 15 minute walk to college. - all day classes and start the journey in reverse I would have been able to skip the trek to grandma's house but I went there to do some chores that she needed help with like for instance filling all coal shuttles in her four story house or help refill shelves in her haberdashery store. I would normally walk in the door at home around 8:30 pm. There was no time for a "student experience", no hanging out with friends or parties. But that was the deal - it was either do what was needed or no college for me and I really wanted that degree. It was a good thing that I needed very little sleep and have (or rather had) an extremely good memory and could get by with very little studying. But in the end I was not burdened with loans either. I don't even know if those would have been available to me but I have always been very debt averse so even if they were I am not sure I would have done differently

So the last two weeks caught up with me this morning. I woke up tired at 7:45 and decided to turn over for a few minutes. A few minutes later I looked at the clock and it was close to 11am. Aliens must have invaded our universe and stolen a couple of hours. There is no other explanation

Aack! Word problems! My worst nightmare in math classes! I hated math in high school, but when I got to college it finally "clicked". My ex that was a high school math teacher says that normal for girls, that that part of their brain doesn't develop as quickly as it does in boys (even though every other part seems way ahead). Like I needed more evidence that I‘m not normal Move over. I liked word problems way before you were even born.. Wait....does that mean I'm not normal? Whatever

Slowly getting things back in place and culling items. Tonight is the second night in a row that I got rid of a big bag of craft materials through but nothing. I love the no contact aspect of this. I just put the items outside my door and, like magic, they disappear

Unfortunately savings are now on hold. I started having digestive issues around Boxing Day which have plagued me on and off since then. Fortunately the doctor I saw about it noticed that while I was a youthful 60, I was still 60 and sometimes ovaries are stupid. One Ultrasound, CatScan, MRI and many blood tests later, my left ovary did prove stupid. I am scheduled for at minimum a hysterectomy due to ovarian cancer. I was annoyed that my only risk factors are age and obesity. Then I remembered that they were the only risk factors Summer Bear had for bladder cancer. At least I’m operable.

You really expect Melania* to sit behind "her man" Tennesseer ? *I am aware that is not who they are referring to but if the shoe fits (even if it is a soft one)? Just saying.

I would have more compassion for the person that lost use of the structure if she wasn't using her connections to get her way. Also, because the grand-fathering in language which prohibits replacement or major repairs these structures are bound to disappear over time. The storm just hastened the inevitable

It's a major issue related to a type of structure which is prohibited. In the early 2000's it was recognized that a certain number of them did exist so, on the advice of the attorney, the structures were cataloged and photographed, and a document filed with the County. These structures were grandfathered-in and could remain; new ones are prohibited. A condition of the grandfathering is that they could not be replaced or substantially repaired. A property owner's tree fell on her structure, damaging it beyond any reasonable repair as well as the adjacent house and a car. She wants to replace it which is forbidden. She has a friend on the board who agrees with her. That is a difficult situation. On the one hand, the rules are the rules and should be enforced for everyone regardless if they have a friend on the board. On the other, I would be extremely upset if I owned a structure on a property that was damaged through no fault of my own and then I wasn't permitted to rebuild. There is that. But on the other hand I would be more than just "extremely upset" if I owned a property there and wanted to add such a structure and was told no because against the rules. You bet your petootie I would kick up a stink they would never forget! This is a situation to steer far, far away from.

I did it. I have my bedroom back and made another Goodwill run. I should keep going as there are still a lot of hours left in the day (it is only 4pm here) but my back and hands (arthritis) tell me I am crazy and call it a day... I also now have at least 10 square inches of moving around room in the guest room Finishing the work this coming week is not going to be pretty/easy but I am going to try.

Probably trump's next grift what with his trials going on. Rumor has it Melania is hawking these in a revenge sale. Maybe they can offer a combined Orange paint addict autographed bible/cross deal? Should really lift his lagging fund-raising efforts.

His friend down the road that gave them to us bought him a Tshirt, that says, real men love cats. Yep, he wears it, LOL! In the story I was reading last night a woman is wondering about why a handsome guy takes such an interest in her. She tells her friend "and he has a cat. Aren't men who love cats serial killers?" Note that I know a fair share of cat loving men and, to the best of my knowledge, none of them are killers serial or otherwise.

Here in north Jersey many of the Canada geese are no longer migratory. They stay in the big corporate parks. DD was gifted some Canadian goose breast fillets by a hunter friend. She said they were like steak I am afraid that is what is happening here - they are having goslings.. Kind of cute but they imprint here IMO and that is not a good thing. The fact that they don't migrate lime they should also does not change their protected status. I can't put anything on the roof however IF I could maybe a barbeque would be an idea Just my luck that wood frame multi unit buildings are not allowed to use (fire powered) barbeques due to fire danger. What a tale of woe I am spinning here. Did I mention that, despite the geese, I truly love living here? If not, I am saying it right now: this is a very nice place to be.

- Canada geese are migratory and as such protected under the law - I have never heard anyone claim they are tasty - they shit all over the place and have made my condo complex a stopover on their flights north/sound - they are clumsy IMO and use my roof for landing and takeoff - they are LOUD both vocally and in their roof maneuvers And they are driving me nuts with their racket so now I am trying to figure out how to get rid of them without risking either fines or jail. Unsuccessfully I may add. They managed to get rid of them in a park nearby but that caused them to go to other places with water - in other words a bunch of them came here

Some observations: 1) I can't put everything back in three days that took me four days to remove 2) My back has decided that it needs more time to recuperate than just 2.5 days between all that moving things around 3) no matter how tempted I am, I cannot ditch The Brothers Karimazov. Finishing this darn book seems impossible to me after several stops and start trying to read it - so it (yet again) ended up on a shelf. For now my goal is to try and reclaim my bedroom before my cleaning lady comes on Monday. Whatever is in de guest room, which currently has about five square inches of moving room , will get put back in its own sweet time.

We are on page 100! Anyone want to take a guess what the number* will be be the time all these trials are over?
* until the orange paint addict dies is not a valid answer since (1) that is not a number, and (2) it is wishful thinking due to the co-defendants in some of these case
November 8, 2016 - the day that will go down in history as the self inflicted Day of Infamy.

Well, spent another 18K today to have my basement torn apart. Great deal huh? Woohoo! Is that so you water can be pumped to the north side of your home so you can install a sump pump?

What has boggled my mind ever since this whole issue came up is that the orange paint addict could have 100% avoided this trial if only he hadn't been such a cheapskate who just can't face paying for anything himself. I don't have a clue how rich he actually is but even if he overstates his wealth by a couple of billion $ those $160k would have been peanuts. But no, he has to go and falsify business records the dumb ass...

Floor replacement completed late this afternoon. So now I am dragging some stuff back. I have far too many books - despite my valiant efforts to reduce them. I did manage to pawn off the BLACK LEATHER (shudder) Lazyboy recliner* to one off the guys who installed the floors. He and I are both very happy with this event. *DS2 left the chair behind when he left home 23.5 years ago. Whenever he visited he used to sit in "his chair". I had warned him I was not going to move that thing to Germany. Now it is just gone a few years early. I'm going through this now, and it's not as quick as your project was. I'm having the whole house (except bathrooms) done, with 1/4" underlayment put down first. They are trying to work me in with a few other smaller jobs, and I'm good with that. So far the LR and DR are done, and I love my flooring choice. They are doing a great job. But the upheaval isn't fun. I'm grateful that my last move from one house to another was less than 2 years ago, and the move before that was 8 years ago. There was a major purge then, and then a smaller one with the most recent move. As it turns out, I've moved quite a bit in my adult life, owing to a couple of temporary duty assignments (renting our place out for a year here and there) and a divorce. I guess I'm lucky that the moves and temporary locations caused me to declutter every few years. Still, when I moved here two years ago, I was appalled at the amount of stuff I had. But then, some of the things I moved were out of spite. I was so pissed off at the buyer of my last place that I refused her unreasonable offers for the appliances. I moved the fridge to give to my DS and DDIL, who really needed it. I also brought the washer and dryer, and ended up donating them to ReStore. They were only a few years old, so someone got a really good buy. Am I unhappy that my spite cost me real $$? No. Seriously. She nickel and dimed me all the way to closing, and drove everyone involved in the sale (both of the realtors, the lender, the title company, the HOA, the lawyer) absolutely crazy. By the time we got to closing, everyone was done with her. I would so have done the same thing. And yes I would have spend the extra money as well and not regretted it for one moment. She probably thought up to the last minute "so what is she ( seriousthistime) about it? I'll get my deal. to that!!!

That's true. They get COLA, but not the ability of someone working to ask for a significant raise. There is that. However, while I was still working I never once received a COLA. And some years raises were skipped too because "we need to conserve cash". Not that much different from the years with 0% COLA on SS. Mostly when people say this I (possibly falsely?) believe they are talking about a lower income than before they retired claiming financial restraints/poverty. This doesn't always mean a lot either. For instance my " fixed income", which consists of SS and a small non-COLA adjusted pension, is less than half my last salary. That said I saved more than half of that salary so, without changing anything, I still have plenty

I hate food in my bedroom. With the flooring being replaced in most of my home the only place I can sit down is on my bed.
I still hate food in the bedroom but I hate not eating for several days straight even more so here I am...
