Gong to take the cat to the vet today, with DS's help. There will be blood. Hopefully, not yours, since you take blood thinners. I hope all goes well. It will be mine, trying to get him into the carrier.

So what do you all do with your garden beds after the season is done? My tomatoes are in a large container. Once I pull the plants, do I just let it sit as is until next year when I add more soil and compost for spring planting? I don't have beds, but I do have containers and window boxes. I let the soil sit until spring, and then I add a lot of sheep manure. My plants seem to like it.

I have spent the last few hours being brave. I dealt with my creepy tomato plants for as long as my nerves could take. Then I tended to the stuff on the deck. There was a dead cicada in the raised bed on the deck. EEEEK! I managed to get it out without fainting. I think I’ve used up all my will power for today. Now I’m chugging water because it’s hot! Tomorrow would’ve been a better day to work outside since it’s supposed to be a bit cooler. But I might not be feeling brave tomorrow, so it’s good I went ahead and did it today lol. Why do you even grow tomatoes? You don't LIKE tomatoes. Why don't you grow something that bringss you joy? Flowers, so you could have bouquets in the house? Sugar peas? Lettuce? Bell peppers?

That brings ME joy, but your mileage may vary. Sugar Peas? Bell peppers? Lettuce?

I have an Oriental cranberry area rug which I like, but it's old. The pile is pretty high and traps cat hair like it's a leg-hold trap. The fringes are grungy, etc. It COULD be cleaned, I suppose, but I'm lazy. So, I bought a grey area rug with a tribal pattern, made in Egypt. I like it.

I don't know if hubs would facetime with them. He thinks I'm kind of over the top with my babies anyway. I was talking the other day to him and Smoke was on his lap and he said he didn't even react. Hubs laughs because I talk baby talk to them. I guess, I do get carried away with my babies. LOL! My gut is bothering me tonight. We had a Sonic cheeseburger for lunch and tonight I fixed some stuff I got at Costco. We had a beef and broccoli skillet with some added fire roasted veggies. Didn't think about it but there were some brussel sprouts in it. Might have been a bit too much for an evening meal. I think it would help a lot. Your kitties would know you didn't fall off the face of the earth. They would love it! Hubs doesn't need to facetime at all. In any case, cats will respond more to your voice than the small picture on the phone. Ask your hubs to let you speak to your kitties on the phone.

Usually good ethnic food at church picnics. Enjoy ners Where? Here it's Midwestern mayo white people food as far as the eye can see. I'm convinced there is a an actual law that states all church dishes must include mayo or cream of something soup. Both is preferable. I got food poisoning twice. After that I only ate stuff that came in grocery containers or I knew the person who cooked it. I miss being at the university. Those were awesome diverse potlucks. My church never had picnics, but work had potlucks. OMG! The food was wonderful! Philipine Adobo, Jamaican chicken curry, Philipine sio pao, Middle Eastern tabbouleh, manakeesh with zaatar, baba ghanoush, kofta, Russian potato salad, etc. I miss that.

You know in listening to hubs I think my kitties are grieving and just lost. He said now Tigger won't even go outdoors and both try to lay on him. I hope he holds them some. Also he has had problems with Smoke not eating and Tig wanting to do nothing but eat. I am worried about my boys and I think I'm going to try to save enough to bring them with me next trip. I think this is too traumatic for them leaving them like that.
If I left for two months, Sushi would literally fail to thrive. He'd stop eating, drinking, and then breathing. His grief would be overwhelming. We've been best buds since 2012 and he goes to sleep hugging me.

I just used my underthings GC from DH. It was my christmas present. I'm always amazed how good bras are just amazing. I also get to keep my ym card. I couldn't pull the trigger on a beautiful robe. It was $180 . I think they only make a few.
So I told DH my size and then suggested he could buy it for me. Which bras would those be? I hate underwires.

Been running experiments on myself testing my BP and pulse rate at home. Then I tried donating plasma today. Failed again 18 pts over. At home my pulse is around 90-95 even when resting. BP is perfect as always. BP was fine when screening this time. I've concluded I have a high pulse rate. I'm a pretty hyper person overall. So when I get nervous my pulse goes out of range because there is no wiggle room compared to DH who is consistently at about 70. Even at my first donation I was 97. It sucks. I finally meet all the requirements and my plasma itself is perfect but now it's my dang pulse that knocks me out. Tell them right away that you have tachycardia and that you've always had tachycardia. My pulse rate hovers around the 100 mark, and always has.

Trying to calm down. I got a $653 bill from the gyno and a $255 bill from my GP.How is that possible? The gyno bill is for pelvic exam, mammo and ultrasound because I have dense breasts. They want peeps to do preventative health screenings, correct? Why is it so expensive? Doesn't make any sense and it's not possible for most people to keep up with the costs. I still haven't met my deductible. Have my first colonoscopy scheduled in a week. The clinic staff said not to worry, it's preventative and will be covered by insurance. But I know from hearing other people talk about it, that is just partly true. If they find anything it's no longer preventative and it will be coded differently, with more cost to me. Trying to console myself that everything came back normal from the gyno exams. Thinking about going to the gyno every other year instead of every year. Healthcare is not affordable, not for a long shot. And I have relatively good insurance. Doesn't your insurance pay for most of the cost?

If God forbid your DH ends up back in the hospital, jerseygirl , I'd talk to the social worker there & spell it out that you do not have the ability to help him, and he must go to rehab. I don't know what is wrong with the hospitals now, but it seems more of them are expecting the family to step up, but what if you can't? I'll never forget the time my Mom's nursing home asked me to take her to a doctor's appointment, but they didn't bother to tell me that her body wouldn't allow her to do simple things. (She was in a wheelchair, but was able to walk slowly to it.) If you asked Mom at that point to stand up, she'd sit down instead. I almost killed myself wrestling her into that wheelchair, not to mention lifting that stupid wheelchair in & out of my car. That was the last time I took her anywhere. I've got problems with my back as it is, and that experience didn't help it any. In the meantime, I wish you the very best on your surgery, and I hope your DH is on the road to recovery. Our nursing home encouraged the family to step up, especially now more than ever, with staff shortages. However, we didn't expect the family to tranport the patient with mobility problems themselves. We gave them the numbers of assisteed transport services, like MediCar and some associated with the city bus lines. They'll come to your home and get the patient into the van with a lift or a ramp, etc. Then they'll come get them after the doctor's appointment. All you have to do is make the reservation. There must have something like that where you live.

pups have been fed, and I cooked more ground turkey/kale to cover the next couple of days. I'd planned to cook all four packages of turkey, but now I need to clean the bathroom and make up the guest bed (normally Sat AM chores), b/c S will be arriving very early tomorrow am after driving overnight - remember I said he's a night owl? which is fine, but it would have been nicer to know that before I sat on my ass and watched LLWS games earlier. so what am I doing now? sitting on my ass, watching a LLWS game in the backyard, with a cocktail. but, I'm also about to make a grocery list for the am run I need to take before I feed the pups breakfast. I'm out of anything resembling shredded lettuce that I can use for bulk filler, and I'm not trying to get out to the main road tonight. my highway exit is a mess on Friday nights. Have you tried bok choy?

How the hell does Sushi spit his pill out AFTER I've given him treats for being a good boy? He wolfs down the cat crack, and then spits out his medicine. How? If you figure it out, let me know. I had a car with this talent too. Unfortunately, that cat was prone to FUS and I had to pill him a lot. Sushi is going to be on these thyroid pills for the rest of his life, and needs bloodwork every 3 months. It's $80. I called Vet Chez Vous and asked how much it would cost to have the techs to come here to take blood. $200. Nope. Not happening.

I think that's where I need to switch to the other location. This one is part of the hospital so you'd think it'd be bigger, but they've only ever had 2 nurses on when I'm there. I think they leave iron infusions to the end of the day too which totally makes sense and they seem to have a smaller staff. I have become a difficult stick. When I was in the hospital, they tried sticking an IV line in my foot. It hurts 1000x worse than sticking my hand…..and they still missed. These days, I tell them I am a difficult stick, and they get the best results out of my left arm. The time that my left arm was tied up (surgery on my hand) they needed to use the ultrasound to find a vein on my right. After that time where I was stuck so many times in the hospital, I told them they get 3 tries and they had better find the ultrasound as they weren’t getting a 4th without it. OUCH! When I was in the hospital, I had no usable veins left, so they tried sticking anIV line in my foot. The pain is indescribable.

Good morning, indefatigable invisipeeps, ambitiously sorting and organizing Stuff and lives. Welcome to Friday once again. I hope your day bears fruit from all your efforts and ends with a chance to wind down and relax. I've been awake for a couple of hours now, revising my web site and hoping for the best. Yesterday I loaded the trunk of the car up with boxes and added one box to the back seat floor. Most of the rest of the space I have will be taken up by the orchids DD has been growing. There's a long way to go in terms of moving DD, but I believe when DH and I come back in 10 days things will be generally ready to finish packing and load up the truck. DD surprised me by her decisions about what she found most important to take (large marble-topped coffee table) and what she was willing to sell (dining table and chairs). I would have guessed differently. For no particular reason, I want some fried chicken. Now.
The cats are prowling around, playing and eating and cavorting. As I was culling pictures I found this one, taken last week before dawn. It's complete with 5 tiny dinosaurs. I was craving fried chicken on Tuesday. I took the bus to PFK (KFC to you). I hadn't had any in years. I'm pretty sure it was pigeon. Tiny pieces for a lot of money...nothing but skin and bones. No meat. It will be years before I try it again.

No they are not. The money market account has all over it NOT FDIC insured, better make sure yours are as 5th 3rd's are not. That is my concern that the bank is sold and like the one in California the uninsured accounts were not honored, so those depositors lost all their money. I think a lot of banks are in trouble, there were 10 on that list. I'm sure unless they have sold their loans that they have low interest coming in and big interest going out. They said they are not building the high interest loans up fast enough to offset it. That's what happens when they let interest rates get that low for so long than inflation takes off. Hopefully they don't decide to sell the bank this weekend or something, makes me very nervous. Yes, we have other money, but it would hurt us badly to lose the money there, damn. I wonder if Americans can put their money in Canadian banks. I don't see why not. We have the strongest banks in the world. Canada’s financial system is one of the safest and strongest in the world. www.cdic.ca/about-us/organizational-structure/partners/financial-safety-net/oversight-of-canadas-financial-system/#:~:text=Canada's%20financial%20system%20is%20one,and%20strongest%20in%20the%20world. Could a similar bank run happen north of the border? The answer for Canada’s largest banks is no. Canada’s Big Five banks — Royal Bank, TD Bank, Scotiabank, the Bank of Montreal and CIBC — remain among the safest in the world. They are large, diversified and well capitalized. theconversation.com/silicon-valley-banks-failure-could-something-similar-happen-in-canada-201932#:~:text=The%20answer%20for%20Canada's%20largest,large%2C%20diversified%20and%20well%20capitalized.

I renewed my Lyrica because of the renewed pain in my feet and shins. It makes you sleep, sleep. sleep. So, I went to bed at 1:30 and set the alarm for 10:00.. I woke up to the sound of Sushi bitching at me. I thought "It must be early, because the alarm didn't go off yet." Well, I took a look at the alarm clock and it was flashing. We had a power failure. "Oh no! I wonder what time it is!" It was quarter to 5 in the afternoon!!! OMG! Wow. Did all the sleep help with lessening your pain? I WAS sleep-deprived before this, because the pain was keeping me awake. I slept for over 15 hours! I feel great, but the day is gone.

home from the vet. LD is currently high as a kite and out cold in his barrel chair. xrays have been sent off to a radiologist, and we were sent home with some solid pain and anti-inflammatory meds. the first thing the vet said after watching him hobble around, and listening to me explain that while I didn't see him do anything in particular, that they were both running around while she was soaked from the pool, that I'd guess he probably wiped out on some wet grass.....vet said she's betting it's going to be something to do with his knee. I'd prepared myself for that possibility, but I'm not looking forward to another TPLO recovery if that's what needs to happen. we'll survive, but ugh. I like that song by Van Morrison. TPLO Honey.

I won't let DH buy plants. We start seeds around here! He has been keeping a close eye on the seedlings. If we can find time before it gets too terribly hot tomorrow, I'll let him plant the next swath in his summer bed. You’re a much better gardener than I am!!! Most of my plants grown from seeds remain puny their whole lives (except for the cukes and cantaloupes). I would never have tomatoes if I didn’t buy the plants at the nursery. Once, I bought some tulip bulbs that looked cool in the catalog (the #1 worst reason to buy a plant) and not a single one of the 6 bulbs I got sprouted. Rotted right in the ground. Then there was that time I bought some begonia tubers and planted them in pots. I got the bright idea that I wasn’t fertilizing my plants enough and started adding fertilizer every time I watered them with my watering can. After a few weeks, when they sprouted, they had the most bizarre shaped leaves - kind of like long thin stalks with circular leaves at the top (like Dr Seuss plants). Not at all like begonias. I finally realized I was poisoning them with too much fertilizer, flushed them out with tons of fresh water, and just watered with only water after that - they mustered regular leaves and even some flowers, but remained dismal the rest of the season. Some of us just don’t have green thumbs. Doesn’t stop me from trying - when I retire in a couple years we’re going to relocate to a house with a smaller yard and I’m going to get some of those waist high planters and maybe a small green house, and limit myself to that and pots. I think if I have a smaller garden spaces and more time I can do better. No, no, no! I fertilize my plants twice in the summer and that's it.
