No-- my state has this care, and has had it way before Obamacare. All states do. And it is subsidized by the federal government.

That is true, and it has nothing to do with Obamacare. I've been in this state since 1987 and ACCHS has always been here, since back when Obama was smoking pot with his radical friends in college. People talking about having to lose all your assets if you get sick is also a lie, because people with assets have insurance. State medical is very good, covers poor people always, and the ones like me that work and don't qualify if something happens to us. Everyone else has insurance already. Aside from pre-existing conditions, which can be addressed in another way than Obamacare-- the whole premise of Obamacare is a lie.

I don't know about the rest of you, but we have someone right here among us who has been impacted by the lack of medical insurance in the presence of severe injury. I'm more than happy to pay to see that people like that get the help they need. I'm not worried about my freaking assets in a situation like that! I've got one heck of a lot more than she does at the moment, and I'm not severely injured so I cannot further my collection of assets. There is no reason on earth that a severely injured person should have to feel shame because they need treatment and can't afford to get that treatment. There's no excuse for them having to wait until real damage may have been done because they feel guilty, or are too proud to ask for help. With obvious severe injury, or illness, that person shouldn't have to ask for help. It should have been there from the beginning and gone into effect automatically. That's how we keep people well and productive. We don't have a problem with seeing these folks in the ER for stabilization, but the ER isn't equipped to offer follow-up care, which is what was needed here. They don't have rehab facilities and they don't have the ability to offer continuing care to ensure injuries don't compound themselves. As a health care worker myself, I know quite well what can happen when treatment isn't available, or is prolonged due to lack of funds. That, to me, in a civilized society, is unconscionable. Lovely post...k to you!

But you go on believing what you will. At this point, it's rather inconsequential anyways.

.and laws can be repealed... just ask the DADT folks... Sure they can. So? It hasn't been repealed yet. if and when it is repealed, then we can talk about that.

And when it is repealed, the healthcare in AZ will stay in place, as it has for a long time.

<<< I'm near the end of my life, most likely, but I do have several children and grandchildren like most people my age and I don't think they should have to take on this burden when there are ALREADY safety nets in place for emergencies like mine. >>> ...well said... Who pays for Medicaid? Your children, grandchildren, and their generations. Yet that is OK because in this case you are the recipient. Makes sense.

Lay off my job, lunacy. I have worked 20 years of work in 10 years. YOU are not better than me because I drive a cab. Richer, better educated, sure. BETTER?? No. Stop insulting my work.

I don't care about your job. I am making fun of your repeated claim that you have the details of most everything in the USA because as a cab driver you overhear and see things. Stop making that claim and start to quote real data and I will stop too.

Not necessarily. Let's take the guy who has worked for twenty (or more) years at the same job. The economy takes a nose dive and he's laid off. Now, he's got assets, and he's probably got some savings, but let's say he, or someone in his family is stricken by medical disaster (accident or catastrophic disease). That's going to eat up his assets pretty darned quickly. We'll say the guy is in his mid-fifties. Not easy to get a job at that age; especially, in this economy. He's worked a lot of years to accumulate what he has, but he's not inordinately wealthy ... and, due to the loss of his job he can't afford Cobra, so has no insurance. Everyone with assets doesn't have insurance under all circumstances.

There sure are some assholes on this board. Some of you people are under the impression that there are 40,000,000 people running around with no insurance that can afford insurance-- which is FALSE. No one wants to be uninsured. The great majority of those 40,000,000 that don't have insurance will get free insurance under Obamacare. It's welfare for people that don't qualify for welfare-- like ME. So stop your whining because I had one medical bill for an injury in the last 10 years-----and ZERO outstanding medical bills before that. Looking at it through your eyes you would have to pay for the working poor anyway-- with or without Obamacare. If you choose to think for some bizarre reason that giving the great majority of 40,000,000 more people free insurance will save money, go for it. All those people that don't get medical care now because they don't have insurance... WOW-- now we can go to the doctor any time we want.. 40,000,000 of us.. Plus-- you go spend 80-100 hours a week 6-7 days a week in a cab for close to 11 years while raising a pack of kids NOT ON WELFARE and then get back to me on what a deadbeat I am. "There sure are some assholes on this board ".. here on these boards?? How could you say that Krickett, surprised at you. Not going to get into the 40,mill stuff with you..your wrong on a lot of it but unimportant This one is not taking you to task as most here aren't , just a few I believe and if they are , they are what you claimed they are. I have a block on one I believe, so don't know what side he's on, can't read , just see " notice of not reading his text or something to that affect " . I am just glad you took the opportunity to take advantage of what was offered , and while you wouldn't be a AH if you were offered but didn't take advantage of, you would be a idiot not to and I KNOW you are NOT a idiot , so just ignore the, what did you suggest they were again..ooohhhh, wow, yep you got that one right but wow...LOL ;D.

You know who would be a real arsehole? If the doctor who treated her refused to do so as in his opinion she would count as a welfare rat, that would be an example of a REAL arsehole. But the doctor was a nice person and treated her with respect. Now if only conservatives started to treat other welfare recipients with respect instead of calling them rats and denying them service. I know, I am a dreamer.

By the way, is it legal for cab drivers to refuse to take "welfare rats" or can they be fired for that?
