Why not compromise? Set aside three hours at the end of each day where only men (Muslim and non-Muslim alike) can swim in the pool. Non-Islamist men can swim without fear of being blocked out by private functions. Islamic men can enjoy the pool without offending their religious sensibilities. The ladies can go home early and cook us all dinner. Everyone wins! And the plan is mmhmm-approved.

Muslims spend a lot on charity. Charity for al Quaida and the Taliban to buy items they need desperately and would die without.

I think that is great but has really strayed from the original post regarding Sharia law.

I was horrified when I read the article. Absolutely barbaric no matter what the perp did to the victim. A better punishment, he is put to work, 3/4 of his earnings are earmarked for her...but since he would probably run, if possible , incarcerated, then brought to work, shackled, after work, back to the jail, Fridays off to pray for forgiveness, and then back to work the next day.

Dez- from your link
1.0 Introduction Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is a multilateral development and financial institution established in pursuance of the Declaration of Intent issued by the first Conference of Finance Ministers of Muslim Countries held in Jeddah (1393H/1973). Sequel to this, the Bank was formally declared open for operations in 1975. The three strategic objectives of the Bank are: Promotion of Islamic financial industry and institutions, poverty alleviation and promotion of co-operation among member countries (IDB, 2004 & 2008a, p. 1). The Bank is made up of 56 member countries cutting across the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. The main shareholders of the Bank are: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, UAE, Turkey and Iran. Thus, the central purpose of the Bank is to foster the economic development and social progress of member countries and Muslim communities individually as well as collectively in accordance with the principles and dictates of Shari’ah i.e. Islamic Law (IDB, 2005, p. 18; & INCEIF, 2006, p. 85). It is worthy of note that in the last 35 years, the Bank has been contributing to the development of the Muslim world and Africa in particular has been one of the major beneficiaries of its development assistance. This is in view of the multiple developmental challenges confronting the continent, more especially the African Muslim Countries (AMCs). However, for Africa development process to be further facilitated and accelerated, there is the need for more foreign aid in the form of a “big push”, especially if the continent is to achieve the MDGs, the IDB Vision 1440H and most importantly Sustainable development. In this vein, Aznan (2008) notes: “…many of our African member countries are behind on the achievement of the IDB 1440H Vision targets and the Millennium Development Goals”. Against this background IDB (2009, p. 5) posits: The IDB development assistance is geared to achieve targets of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the IDB 1440H Vision. .

"Republicans Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum don't agree on everything, but they all concur that we must stop Sharia law from being imposed upon America." And they are freaking stupid if they actually believe that. It's a show for the dummy vote.

I dunno, Dez. It wouldn't seem to me that the (secular) benefactors in Saudi Arabia and the UAE could proffer said charity without running afoul of Islamic law: "O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors; they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust." (Quran, 5:51) Don't get me wrong. Their outpouring of charity is most heartening. It just doesn't seem to be terribly consistent with their laws or doctrines, which is what is theoretically being discussed in this thread.

I believe also many feel that the only country who does give foreign aid and help to others is basically us, the US, and while we do give much aid, also lots of Military aid to be honest with you, many times $ too , that are then spent purchasing our arms, the truth is a lot of country's are very generous in their foreign giving. I know Japan has always been a hugh benefactor on aid, naturally with their latest problems I am sure that will be cut drastically, and yet the need doesn't diminish.m I knew that the Muslims countries who have it, $, are generous , also much is given through the mosques too, which does seem to reach those in need. Basically the feeling of it's only us who are generous, just not true.

Initial pledged Unit Arab emerites..$100 m Bahrain 5 m Kuwait 100 m $400 m in oil
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
So these Muslim countries throw a couple of your own dollars back at you (out of the trillions you've spent there) and we're all supposed to feel like they contribute handsomely to global causes? This bullshit simply astounds me. Keep it coming and I'll keep shooting this shit down.

Top 7 Islamic Charitable OrganizationsMuslims generally strive to be generous and humble in their charitable contributions, but it is getting harder to do so in today's climate of suspicion and fear. Some Islamic charities have been shut down on allegations of re-routing funds to terrorist causes, causing Muslims to become wary of where their money is going. We advise each person to thoroughly research any organization before making a donation. More: islam.about.com/od/activism/tp/charities.htm

Where does the U.S. government get its money for charity/foreign aid? As most of us know, it comes from American taxpayers. Since the rulers of oil-rich Muslim countries control most of the wealth (not the citizens), how can Muslim citizens afford to be as charitable as Americans (based on populations and incomes)?
Am I missing something?

Obama's Religion Problem: White House Funnels Money to Discriminatory Religious GroupsTaxpayer dollars are continuing to be dispensed to religious groups via a secretive and controversial government office. After President Barack Obama gave a congratulatory shout-out to Joshua DuBois, director of his Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (OFBNP), at the National Prayer Breakfast in February, Georgetown University religion scholar Jacques Berlinerblau wondered in the pages of the Washington Post "what exactly that office is doing -- a never-ending source of confusion, and even awe, among reporters, policy analysts and professors in Washington, DC." Berlinerblau compared the OFBNP to the Kremlin -- apparently because of its ironclad hold on information about its activities, which are frequently reduced to cheery blog posts on the White House website extolling the virtues of faith-based provision of social services to people in need, but rarely addressing the thornier controversies that plague its mission. Over the two-year life of Obama's OFBNP, however, the most controversial aspects of the Bush initiative have remained in place. Although Obama had promised in a July 2008 campaign speech that he would rid the OFBNP of two of its most pressing constitutional problems -- allowing faith-based organizations receiving federal dollars to discriminate in hiring, and allowing federal money to be dispersed directly into houses of worship -- he has done neither. Indeed, many of the evangelical leaders whose approval Obama sought during his run for the White House opposed those reforms, making their feelings known to campaign staff shortly after his stump speech. Much More: www.alternet.org/news/150910/obama%27s_religion_problem%3A_white_house_funnels_money_to_discriminatory_religious_groups/?page=entireAs a devout Atheist, I find this particularly offensive. Are Muslim-Americans getting their fair share? This is yet another reason why I'm not an Obama fan.

www.foxnews.com/world/2011/05/15/mothers-kill-2-young-brides-northern-india/?test=latestnewsWorld India mothers accused in honor killing of 2 brides Published May 15, 2011 | Associated Press NEW DELHI – Two Muslim mothers in a northern Indian town have been arrested on accusations they killed their daughters for dishonoring the family by eloping with Hindu men, police said Sunday. Newlyweds Zahida, 19, and Husna, 26, were strangled when they returned home after getting married to men of their choice, said Anil Kumar Kusan, a police officer. Marriages between Hindus and Muslims are not common in India and are frowned upon by both communities, although there are more instances of inter-religious marriages among the educated urban population. Across India, many marriages are still arranged by families. But with the booming economy and more women entering the work force, such traditions are slowly giving way to love marriages. However, centuries-old caste and community barriers still come into play, and there has been a spurt in "honor killings" in recent years across northern India. Zahida and Husna were neighbors in Baghpat, a town in India's Uttar Pradesh state, when they fell in love with two construction workers. They eloped and got married last week before returning home to make peace with their families, Kusan said. The women belonged to Muslim families and their mothers, both widows, were furious, Kusan said. Initial investigations showed that the mothers helped each other to strangle their daughters. "We killed them because they brought shame to our community. How could they elope with Hindus? They deserved to die. We have no remorse," Khatun, one of the mothers, was quoted as saying by the Indian Express newspaper after her arrest Friday. Khatun uses only one name. Earlier this week, India's Supreme Court recommended the death penalty for honor killings, calling the practice barbaric and feudal. Most victims of such killings are young adults who fall in love or marry against their families' wishes. In some cases, village councils order couples killed who marry outside their caste or religion. While there are no official figures, an independent study found around 900 people are killed each year in India for defying their elders.

Short and scary s.., hope they put him away for a very long time. To actually stop some one like this, and others, fo us , it just isn't going to happen, to many fleights, to many people. Israel for example, less fleights , people, their Air Line, I believe would have seen who, were, and the particulers, would have not made the fleight, nott ha I am guessing that many Arabs are flying their airline. { that is a interesting point actually, I wonder, got to google later} If your now going to ask if I have changed my mind on my not dissing all Muslims, answer is no. Possible look at who's on my fleight a little closer , but no can't do that, the dissing and the paranoia.
