The ads this midterm are more outrageous than I have ever seen.  America First Legal (Stephen Miller) has been airing ads in California saying that Biden is racist against Asians.  With nothing to back it up except a bunch of quotes from Fox, et al.  I really hope the Asian community knows who is behind these ads (the very people who said Covid was made in a lab in China)!

Exactly!  Older/retired people will be needing hip replacements, knee replacements, cataract surgery, stents, pacemakers, etc.  Meanwhile, they won't be working and paying income taxes.
So, while it's easier for them to move, which countries will take them?

This actually doesn't seem as difficult as I had expected.  I'm sure I could find employment, but I am 43 in May, so I had to decide soon if this is really what I want.  I have never lived anywhere but the west coast.  I would need to move my 77 year old mother with me, as I am her care taker.  And I would have to sell my house.  For those reasons alone, djAdvocate is correct that I used them as excuses because I can. 

I would absolutely love Canada, this I know!  And I prefer colder weather (I hate Sacramento summers), so I would be fine with that as well.  I do worry about the HCOL in the areas that I would be looking for employment.  But at the end of the day, if the US falls, and I need to get out, Canada has always been one of the best and easiest choices for me. 

I will actually be on a cruise to Vancouver and Victoria next spring.  It will be my first time to the country.  I am VERY excited!

this is pretty much where Im' at right now. my boss is  100% WFH and he lives a few states away from me. our office is in the city, and I asked him in 2020 whether I needed to be close to the office or not, and he said in no uncertain terms,

I agree. I think the fact that they ignore economy questions hurt, because Republicans just lie and say they will fix it. Really what the GOP generally does is reward the big donors, make lots of empty promises, and then pretend trickle down economics is working if anything at all seems to improve for most of the citizens.

In reality, we all know how the story goes - the GOP will vote to make things worse for middle and lower economic class America at which time Dems will be voted in yet again to fix the problems. We need to educate voters how things work IMO. It won't work with all of them because they go on feels and their gut which apparently is pretty off. The Dems should have touted how well we were doing versus the rest of the world. They should have advertised how Trump prevented the economy from addressing inflation correctly by not allowing the Fed to raise rates while he was still Prez.

I would have ha d a different message as the old how do you feel about now is a loser question. We globally are recovering from a pandemic. It sucks. It will get better no matter who is elected. Only the willfully blind fail to realize that

In reality, we all know how the story goes - the GOP will vote to make things worse for middle and lower economic class America at which time Dems will be voted in yet again to fix the problems. We need to educate voters how things work IMO. It won't work with all of them because they go on feels and their gut which apparently is pretty off. The Dems should have touted how well we were doing versus the rest of the world. They should have advertised how Trump prevented the economy from addressing inflation correctly by not allowing the Fed to raise rates while he was still Prez.

I would have ha d a different message as the old how do you feel about now is a loser question. We globally are recovering from a pandemic. It sucks. It will get better no matter who is elected. Only the willfully blind fail to realize that

The President does not control the Fed.

That does not mean that he did not threaten them. He does not control voting in Georgia. Did not stop him from threatening GOPers who did not want to toss the election to him. This is Trump. Threats are his business strategy. Getting even with you for not following his will is sport to him. Not everyone is able to deal with that kind of pressure from a crazy screaming rich white man.
