2 useless meetings later, sigh. 1 was my manager just checking a box.
The second - well, don't ask me for help and then reject my knowledge. I tried to put you on the right path to align with other requirements and you rejected it because you want to continue to do things the way you always have - even if that does not align with policy. If you aren't going to do things the right way, which will also save you time, leave me out of it. And I will have that discussion with those above me to let them know what I suggested and what you have planned.

Good morning, able invisipeeps, holding the line against the chaos of life. Welcome to Thurday, Easter Eve eve eve or Maundy Thursday for those who observe these things. I hope your day sees you satisfied with your efforts. I hope you enjoy a fabulous dessert. And that order and solvency are maintained. Had great news yesterday. DH had a nephrology appointment and his doctor noted that he was doing fine and could remain stable for a long time to come, even years. After last fall we're relieved and happy. We went out to eat to celebrate. DH had a yen for a steak. We shared a ribeye which was excellent. The weather broke 60 degrees yesterday. Today it's going to rain. It's raining now and will continue pretty much all day. We're expecting up to 3". It was another gray on gray morning, which the tiny dinosaurs appreciate: Wonderful news for you both!

I had a meeting end early this morning, so I took the opportunity to shower in the middle of the morning instead of later in the day. it's the little things...lol... anyway, I also tried on a couple pairs of shorts I wasn't sure would still fit. they didn't after a couple days of extra salty food on the last boat, anyway. well, they fit! I'm feeling puffy lately, and I'm definitely up more than a few lbs, so that was a nice surprise.
I may still pick up a couple pairs of yoga capris, just in case. mine are all ancient and beat to shit like the ones I have on today. there's a hole worn into the upper inner thigh, totally not fit to wear in public. anyone have any relatively inexpensive ones they like and recommend?

DH has been prescribed Ozempic. I actually am surprised he was not put on it sooner as he is diabetic. He was trying to figure out how to use it when I left this am. I have some work to get done today and tomorrow. Am planning to take Monday off as my DD will be home for the weekend. Nothing much going on in my world but work and cleaning.
Went down in the basement this am to feed the Rabbits, and decided that even though I was running late, the cages needed to be cleaned, so I did that, then fed them. I feel like I need a nap. My dogs sometimes get me up at night to let them out. Last night I got up to let the dog out, and DH was awake. He told me the dogs had just gone out, that the dog got me up cause he wanted a snack. I was so tired I gave him what he wanted and went back to bed.

Contractor was out taking more measurements yesterday and the house decisions have begun. I hate them with a passion. Today he just wanted to know if I wanted deadbolts or standard locks on the new doors and I spent at least an hour hemming and hawing about it before I responded. And now I'm thinking I need to start looking at door handles in addition to lights.

On my way home from work, I heard a commercial on the radio from some company saying they will pay 100% of the fair market value for your house, and rent it to you. They hyped it up, saying how you avoid packing up and moving, you can still live in the house that you love. Now, I’ve never claimed to be the smartest person ever, so I need you all to explain to me why somebody would do that. My understanding of renting is that rent is usually more than a mortgage payment would be on the same property. I can’t make it make sense. It's a bad option but it beats foreclosure. The seller gets some cash out of the deal, probably less than if they sold the house in a more traditional manner, but possibly more than they'd get if the house was auctioned. They probably don't have the time or the money to fix up the house to get a better price or else they wouldn't be behind.
The cash can be used to pay the new rent or to move to a slightly cheaper rental. The seller may also be able to avoid having a foreclosure on their credit report, which dramatically improves their rental options.
But I'm sure that those reasons aren't the ones that are being hyped. Nor are they mentioning the possibility that the buyer is a bad actor who will move slowly to improve their odds of buying the house more cheaply at auction.
I regret posting the above response. The odds are good that I have inadvertently said something neutral about the scum of the earth. To get an idea of how the cash for ugly houses things work, I strongly recommend that you read this ProPublica article. Some of the folks in this business are nasty and it's almost certainly not just a few bad actors working for one particular company. It might be worth your time to read the article even though you can never imagine ever getting tangled up with such folks. Exorcizing any illusions that these folks are helping you or anyone else out is quite protective.
When you need to sell fast, everything that you tell one of these folks about your own situation or the condition of the house diminishes your bargaining power. They are not fiduciaries.

I'm washing bed clothes today, reading and falling asleep in between. I went in the living room and DD hubs is asleep. Thankfully we are not noisy so he can rest.
It took me some reading the first couple of times to figure out ozempic, then it became routine. DD likes her shots in her stomach but they sometimes give me a sideache there, so I give them in the fatty part of my upper arms. You can also give them in the upper thigh. We never went beyond .50; I'm sure that is different or could be for him. I hope he does well on it. He could have some unpleasantness with it but I wouldn't give up to quick.
you can detach the keyboard on this computer and one pops up on the screen, but i don't like it some functions aren't there and makes it awkward. I will never buy another like this one. It's a Lenovo and probably won't die because I don't like it.
I cooked the arm roast last night in the Ninja cooker. I tasted a couple of bites was to die for, made myself quit before I ate to much. Going to heat it and take the broth and put potatoes and carrots in it in the oven and bake the meat maybe 15 or 20 minutes more. I told hubs we need to take our big freezer and load it full and take it to Washington for us and the kids. That was the thing I missed the most in Texas was the good meat and sweet corn from here. Hubs said we can't do that forever, I says well we could for a couple of trips so would last us a year or two. Used to be you could get meat like that in the grocery here but not anymore. They were even getting meat from Australia and places for a while and was labeled so. You can tell labeled or not, yuck.
Cattle should be raised like the farmer down the road from us. does. He has grassy pasture, I would say 50 acres of more fenced off. He transfers from one to the other so it never gets the grass killed but stays good pasture. There are also streams and trees. You go by and see the cows laying in it or strolling around, they are clean with shiny coats and you can tell just healthy. He sure takes care of his stock. Same further down the road, he raises goats, he has one of those great Pyrennes in with them that watches them. That dog is always out there with them. We don't have a lot of cattle here like we used to but the ones we do have take good care of their stock and horses too. I suppose there are pigs but not where you can see them, few raise them anymore. I'm sure they raise all this in Amish country where he buys his livestock for butchering.
If you want to see something sickening, drive through west Texas where all the feed lots are. The poor cattle are covered in poop, standing on piles of it in the pens, the smell is unbelievable. They must use tractors to scrape it up so the pens are devoid of any vegetation. After seeing and smelling that, I couldn't eat meat for the longest time. And if nothing else, the poor animals lack any dignity in their lives. That may sound silly to some, but I think any living thing needs to be treated well if if the end result is for food. It bothered me so much when I would go west in the motorhome, I would drive further north and go out to miss it. There should be laws against that in my opinion. No wonder they have salmonella in meat at times.

Here is the latest I read, the guy running for governor of Utah is blaming the bridge collapse on diversity, yep, diversity. He says the port commissioner is a black lady, but fails to say there are 5 other commissioners, that would have to share that blame? I doubt if he even knows there are more than just her which shouldn't matter anyway. I just cannot believe some of this sh** these people, why, why say something like that?

Thinking about getting a couple of pairs of shoes. They're on sale and they're cute, but I don’t really need them. I would use them though. If they're still available when I go to lunch I'll get them. I should look at buying stock in Nike. Approved! They were still available. 🫢

Getting my sump pump pre-emptively replaced today. It's always been wet when it's done.
I trust the people I have do this. They are local to this town and family owned. They have taken care of my sump pump, furnace, a/c, etc. since the beginning.
He showed me there is no tile around the hole for the sump pump and the dirt and foundation are starting to erode after this many years. Gave me the name of a company. They have talked and he sent them pictures. I don't know how much, but this is a necesarry and expensive repair.
That CD is going to be cashed in at a penalty. I'm not paying the interest rate against the Heloc when the CD is paying so little.
Googling around, guessing at least $10K for this and this is not a choice. I hate things when they are not a choice. At least I have access to the money without drawing on the Heloc.
Very happy I decided against going to Toronto.

Okay, the back deck furniture is scrubbed and ready to use. My back and knees are dead so the front deck chairs will have to wait a day.

Holy moly ya'll hell may freeze over! DH volunteered to go grocery shopping today - alone. I can count one one hand the amount of times that has happened in the last 15 years. And that has mostly been to buy fresh food to grill on nice days. I called my mom when I got home last night from yet another work trip to check on dad with his lung issues to make sure that the pulmonary doc got the referral and he got an appointment (he did). He heard us talking about a blanket that DSis made for me for Christmas. We could not have a regular Christmas because her family had the flu and I am traveling so much that we have not been able to link up. Mom got the blanket from DSis and washed it for me - because DSis's house is over run with animals and kids and definitely has a smell. So now I have free time this weekend to visit my parents for the first time in over 2 months. I am very thankful for that. But am now also concerned about DH. I made the grocery list (10 items) very specific, even noting where the items were located in the store, except for certain things. Like peanut butter, which DH eats 5/7 days and I eat maybe twice a year. He looked at the list before he left and asked what brand of PB. I thought he was joking, he was not. I have bought the same brand for the last 15 years and I know that we have had dozens of interactions where "Choosy moms choose Jif" was referenced.

I have Bank of America and we get 5% back on everything that goes on it. Hubs will use it when Menards has the 11% off, we always send those in for the rebate and than also get the 5%. Has saved us some money.
Seems like we used the last amount we had on the card to help pay off his $1200 set of tires for his truck. A good use.
Hubs has a round trip ticket to go to Washington to use before June 11 or lose it, so he is looking at going up before I do in April. He needs to fix the kitchen sink drain and I asked him to please look at replacing the sink if he can, I want a deep one. The faucets and fittings on the water lines are all new, so he can reuse those. The shower has a drip and he wanted to replace it before but wasn't there long enough, as he said its not going to get any better. To fix it he is going to have to take out the water heater. It's in the wall where the faucets go, so as he said, bet he just needs to go ahead and replace it too as most of the time the elements are corroded and the heaters have sediment in them. He replaced the other faucet and all the sinks have new ones. He may have to replace one toilet, we think something may be stopped up in it. I need to discuss that with him. I may suggest he puts in one of those on demand units instead of one sitting there heating all the time. He was afraid to turn it off as in a modular they are in sort of an outside compartment, this one is also, and he was afraid it could freeze. I'm sure that cost us on utilities. So he said he has work to keep him busy. We think he will be ok. Other than being tired he has no other of the side effects he could have had so that is good. I so hope this clears it for him. He has treatments till April 17th I believe is the last one, so he is getting there. Then I made reservations for DD and I to go from April 29th to June 11. DIL and grandson are leaving the Friday school is out so should give them 3 weeks where we won't be there so they can get ready. Don't want to be hanging around while they are trying to get ready to leave. It just costs so darn much to board the kitties we are taking turns so far. I may go up while DIL is gone without DD so I can paint the building and fence I scraped all off if it still isn't done. I don't think the poor guy has time to do it. They have one maintenance guy for the whole park. He put up a new fence where the storm took it down. He said that was temporary as they are going to replace it all around ours, that will be nice. Our place gets extra care because that is where the well house for the park is. You don't hear anything, and it just looks like a small storage building is all. But he also mows most of our lawn. That part I will not paint, just the section inside and our storage building. We want to make it nice for while we live there and when we sell. I just remembered, need a new light fixture in the front entrance, a bulb is broke in it and the cover is broke, might as well replace it with something newer and pretty that gives out light. We really need to take the AC out of the wall too in the living room and patch that hole, but don't think he will have time.
Son has a lot of traveling to do, he was in Boise this week, need to check where he is going next. He said he has a lot of catching up to do plus more traveling than normal this year. This time was at an air base. We want to try to have hubs go when son is home as he likely could use a pair of hands extra.
Today is our 56th wedding anniversary, we are going out for dinner tomorrow night as I already have good food for tonight. DD is excited to go too. We don't go out in the evening much.

No wonder they have salmonella in meat at times. I too prefer grass-fed beef and find it more digestible than grain-fed. I am happy that Aldi does carry a lot of it-not every cut but many. You should check out Whole Foods-they were actually pioneers in providing proteins from humanely maintained animals. Personally I would not be comfortable sourcing from Amish ranchers because of their presence in the horsemeat trade by shipping their elderly and injured horses to Mexico for slaughter. Having owned horses and seen the killer auctions, it's just not something I can be comfortable with.

Psst. The Amazon Visa has 5% cash back on Amazon purchases all the time! Dammit! You already have me on the verge of getting a Chase card. I don't need an Amazon one too! I order from Amazon enough as it is. I can't believe you don't already have one! They have a store card that you can only use there that Synchrony Bank handles (same login as my Sam's Club and JCPenney cards). Then Chase has an Amazon Visa that can be used anywhere. I believe you get a $100 Amazon gift card when you sign up for that one.

The Amazon Visa is also my backup travel card. Plus it's a pretty baller looking card.

Wait. So the Chase Amazon visa gives me the $100 gift card and money back everywhere? I'm gonna have to look into it.

I just added getting that Chase Visa to my weekend to-do list. As much as we shop at Amazon... Right! I have to look at it. I may just have to pull the trigger on that too.

My Amazon card is the card attached to my Amazon account. 5% back every day. Sometimes I get a pop up at check out, that if I choose not to use Prime, I get 6% back. I usually choose the 6%.
