Can she still jump on the bed or sofa? Sushi needs 'steps'. One of mine needs "steps" as well. She has a bit of a limp and her front legs are kind of bowed. The other one has no problems getting up and down, but she is having vision problems now so she misjudges height and distance. She can still jump up on things, but she's slowing down. I have stairs for the dog, but she bypasses them.

Drama - is Captain Dipshit hot? Just curious. No but a lot of the people in the lab not so nicely call him her lap dog because he hangs on every word and does nothing without asking her first. She's also the one doubling down on he's actually a great employee just new and it's all the rest of us inhibiting him.

I went to my dermatologist this morning because I have had a spot on my nose for too long that needed to be looked at.
She did a bioposy, but is fairly certain it's cancerous and will require Mohs surgery. Not looking forward to that. Will have results on Monday.
Another place where I refused to give my SSN. I asked why they needed it and was told to skip it.

Lawn guy is here to mow lawn. I'm about to run out and do a few errands. Decluttering kitchen cookware utensils later, then packing.

Good morning all.
Finn, I log in every morning just so I can like your latest picture. Lol.
I am feeling really depressed this morning. I don't know why. I think it is because my house is a mess and DD is coming home. I took tomorrow off, not sure if I will clean, work on my taxes or do something else. Not only do I have to clean and declutter my house, my mom's house also could use a good decluttering/cleaning. Last weekend I asked my mom where she stores the big stand mixer she has, and she said she has always just left it on the counter. Mom could not be trusted to bake anymore. In order to move it back to the corner, I had to pull out a basket that was very heavy and had what looked like old papers in it. mom commented to me that that basket was all recipes. Which means I should probably go through and see if there is anything I need/want to preserve for my family. I had no where to move the basket, so I just set it on the floor under her printer.
I told my sister last weekend that when I took mom to the doctor recently my mom said to me I hope you wouldn't put me in a nursing home. She is really just shuffling around now, Idk how long we can continue to let her live alone. It would do no good to have her live with us unless I quit working, and I am not sure I feel financially secure enough to do that. DS has her hands full with her MIL living with them. DB wants us to move her to a memory care facility. I am sure the stress of this situation is part of my depression. Luckily I have 9 days to use before 6/30/24. I will probably use most to get the books in shape for DH's business. We also need to clean out DH's "office" at work so we can move some furniture stored in our garage over there. So my vacation days won't be used to go on vacay unless I go somewhere with DD. My DH has his own business, and he really needs at least one more employee. He does have someone he is trying to hire, but it sounds like they are asking for quite a bit of $$. At least I have 21 more (including personal days) days available 7/1/24.
Speaking of lifespan of pets, I would like mine to live until I retire. I don't want to get another dog until I have time to train them. My miniature schnauzer is about 8 and my teddy bear is about 8 (Edit, Teddy Bear is about a year younger so about 7). The miniature schnauzer has a lot of grey hair and is showing signs of aging although they can live a long time my last one only lived about 8 years (he had kidney issues).

Funny timing. We just bought Bill the Dog a stroller. He can only go on a walk for about five to ten minutes--which at his pace is to the end of the driveway and back.

So in lighter news I found my mom's diamond earrings. My dad was looking for them for whatever reason. He decided he wants to give them to Gwen or Abby. He was going nuts and asked me if I had gone through her jewelry because they seemed to be missing. My mom had her own system of storing stuff which is . . .interesting to say the least. So I asked if he had checked here, there, this place. He said no. I asked if they were studs or dangly because they might be in different places. I got an itch that I might know where they were so I went over yesterday. I went through mom's stuff and was gong insane trying to find her wedding rings. After a bit I figured out she stored things according to category and sentimentality. Gifts from me, Bob or my dad are in a different container than her day to day stuff. Sure as shit I found them. They were hiding under another pair of earrings. At least we are pretty sure they are them. My dad said he bought them close to 35 years ago so isn't 100% sure. We'd have to take them and have it confirmed they are diamonds. I have a hell of a time telling real from fake but I compared them to my engagement ring and they appear to act like diamonds. He said going through her stuff is hard so he didn't really look as hard as he could have. They just randomly popped into his head and he wanted to find them. I said I get that. The final clean out of the house is going to be fucking brutal for both of us.

Anyone remember that at the beginning of the week I said someone had to turn up the heat here as I was cold (wearing a sweater - high that day 62) and I wanted my seasonally appropriate mid seventies back? Well I think the weather gods are technically impaired/morons: it will get up to 86° today with a few degrees warmer tomorrow. Oh well, time to pull out a fan .

There is a musty smell in my house that I can't find. Strong in the bathroom but I get whiffs of it here and there too. The boys can't smell it. Dc usually can but only when I point it out it seems. Im going to lose my mind.

Im going to lose my mind. I don't care for the smell, when I first walk in the door of my apt. Not because it's bad. But because it's different from the smell in the hallway. I notice it and wish I didn't. Luckily, after my first breath, or two, I don't notice it. I hope you are able to figure yours out.

Im going to lose my mind. Funny you would mention this. There is a nasty smell in the garage, and I can't figure out what it is, or where it's coming from. I've got a bad feeling that I'm going to find a dead mouse that didn't survive the Winter.

He's 15. He's almost all the way deaf, his sight seems to be going now. He gets confused easily. And the incontinence is almost daily now and driving me crazy. But, he's not in pain and he seems to still enjoy life.

We have 2 sea days today and tomorrow, and they look like they are going to be rough. We have heavy overcast skies, and rain. Only 5 days left until we get into Vancouver.
There are 3 weeks we will be home, and in that time I need to find something to wear to my niece’s wedding in Indiana. After the wedding, we are shooting up to see my cousin and his wife in Peru for a couple days. There will be drinking and more drinking. It’ll be good to see them again.
Next trip is to Salmon Arm BC for TD’s family reunion for a long weekend. This is in July.
Sometime in there, old friends of mine want to meet up in the San Juan Islands. I haven’t heard anything about this recently, so don’t know if it’s still on. If it is, I need to make reservations, or just plan on going for the day. However, TD and I both talk about hating to drive any distance after dark these days.
We leave for my other niece’s wedding in Ireland the last of Aug. Busy summer.

Well I went ahead and applied for opening two levels above my current position. I don’t think there is any chance I will get it, but I really want to get position one level up, which is supposed to open in the next couple of months.
I go back and forth between just being happy in my current technical role for 4-6 years (retirement date) vs going into management. I have done management before; and current company management (and current boss) are pretty incompetent.

Let it not be said I cannot or will not adapt to reality. I went on a (planned) Costco run. And since it really is warming up significantly and I am not one for depriving myself, I threw a box of It's It mini icecream sandwiches into my shopping cart. Take that oh fickle weather gods! HA!

We have a detached garage that is on the far edge of the property that has a mouse problem, but I just keep saying we'd have to burn the house down if they got in here. I need it warm enough to put all the plants outside and then start tossing stuff and hope we find the source.

Oh Jimmy crack corn I hate my job Jimmy crack corn I hate my job Jimmy Crack Corn I hate my job . .. It's turned into a fucking daycare! Seriously though the coworker who likes to start shit and is a time Nazi REALLY started shit today and this time was pulled into a meeting. According to the coworker who set the meeting she threw EVERYONE in the lab under the bus saying that none of us actually work our hours and that we all take "long lunches" and "play on Facebook all day" and "leave early and come in late". Now there is rumors/discussion that they are going to do a time audit on all of us. We're grown ass adults. I have absolutely no autonomy in my job anymore. I can't leave a blender to soak before trying to scrape it off because that is "Unprofessional and sloppy". My manager actually came in and passive aggressively washed one I was letting soak for a minute as I finished up a job. It hadn't even been in the sink for five minutes yet. Now I might end up being managed down to the minute on my lunch break. Can't wait to find out what she may have said about me or my manager decided to interpret as about me in my next 1:1 meeting. My very first "you are the worst employee on the planet" meeting was all fucking gossip from that bitch. She sits right behind me and apparently monitors my every move. Since my manager doesn't seem to particularly like me she ate up every word and ran with it. I am so fucking done with this place. I told my work BFF that this situation has moved from beyond toxicity to something that doesn't even have a word for it. The fact that HR hasn't stepped in to clean house to me indicates this is NOT the place they brag about it being to work for. I keep telling myself just to hold tight and wait another opportunity will come it always does but I am exhausted. I can't handle this much drama and micromanagement on a daily basis.

Im going to lose my mind. My house smells funky when you first walk into the hall that leads to the bedrooms. It’s been like that for a long time and I have no idea where the smell is coming from. By the time I get to the end of that part of the hall, where it turns to lead to my bedroom, I can’t smell it anymore. It’s not just me, Mister smells it too. It isn’t a musty smell, it just stinks. I do not like part of my house being stinky.
