As far as restaurants go, Chick Fil A seems a pretty safe bet for a successful franchise. When you need to hire an off duty cop to manage your parking lot traffic, you have a lot of money coming in. Or when you tear down a store just to rebuild it so you can have a two lane drive thru. That's kind of what they're doing here. The traffic for the drive through window was causing all kinds of traffic problems, so they tore out all the parking and are putting in a two lane drive through. It's still not open yet so we haven't seen if it helps the traffic issue or not. Both Whattaburgers near me have two lanes.

Chick fil a is about the only one I wouldn't discourage someone for going for. They are VERY meticulous - not just with who they pick but also WHERE. And corporate is very hands on from what I hear and it's not a traditional franchise operation. It's more of a we've chosen you to run this store and you're a bit fancier than just a general manager. And of all the fast food places they have some of the highest revenue per location. I have friends that have a Chick Fila in a suburb of Houston. Both are CPAs, and he is a Partner at one of the Big 4 accounting firms. Yes, corporate is very hands on, but in a manner so you succeed, and in turn they succeed. Agreed that it is one of the very few I would go for. Although I sat on an economic development board with a man that had several McDs in the Milwaukee area. His McDs weren't in the greatest neighborhoods, including near my office, but he was super involved and they were very well run and his staff was very professional.
