www.theguardian.com/society/2019/sep/11/take-food-allergies-seriously-people-can-dieFound this article interesting. I'm flummoxed by some of the comments about keto. When I was on strict keto (for 7 months), I never said I was "allergic to gluten". Gluten-free products can have plenty of carbs too. I said "I don't eat carbs (or specified pasta/rice/potatoes/fries). Could you please replace the fries/potatoes/rice with vegetables?" Literally EVERY restaurant offered me either green veggies or a side salad instead. (One restaurant said "Sure!" and then served me peas and carrots. I didn't have the heart to explain that I couldn't eat those either. It was our wedding anniversary meal out so I just ate them.) ETA: To be clear, I mean that people who are on keto/choose not to eat carbs have NO BUSINESS saying they are "allergic to gluten", because they're not. Those "preferences" just make it harder for the people who are truly allergic/intolerant.
I found the US to be EXTREMELY keto-friendly both times I was there this year (once for 2 weeks, once for 3 weeks.)
