I was maybe a bit understated. I often don't agree with him. But I have always viewed him as a straight shooter. To me that is admirable. And yes, he is quite at odds with today's Republican party, a fact he not only admits, but points out. He notes that neither party is called the Conservative Party. He most certainly is a conservative, in old Great Grandfather Obediah's mold. I didn't know that his father was a doctor of philosophy. That helps explain a few things about his thought process I think. I used to like the way conservatives insisted on curbing spending.
They're almost like the dodo now, extinct.
Or maybe they're just lurking, waiting for the current manifestation of their party to burn out and let the adults take control again.
They're waiting for a Dem to be President again so they can pin everything horrible the current administration has done on them. They don't care about the deficit now, but they will when they don't hold the White House anymore. Then there will be screaming and hair pulling over it.

Ed...on another note you are completely wrong that the six nation treaty, which you mistakenly attribute solely to Obama, is a complete disaster. You don’t possess the political acumen to even know that it was operating successfully and Trump has shown he is not up to bring any kind of leader of the free world. In your belligerent short sidedness you fail to realize that being diplomatic with Iran is vastly superior to the hegedemonic aspirations of Bolton, Trump and Pompeo. Do you and Kris have any sons between 14 and 22? well Obama represented the US. I will disagree with you on Iran. No sons only daughters, we do have a son in law in the air force so you think going to war with Iran is a good idea?

by what measure was it a total disaster? they received a ton of cash to use against us they have the right to start with nuclear arms in a few years they get to let us know when inspections can be done 1.8B won't get Iran very far, and I doubt they would use it against us, and it was theirs to start with. you can't really hide nuclear development from inspectors.
can you send me a link about "starting nuclear arms in a few years"?

But I read the provisions of inspection, and they had clear rules around how those work, including short time frames for inspection. The International Atomic group (I can't recall the name now) has reported that they have been very open to inspections and have done everything within the time periods set by the agreement. Trump was fussing about the 21 day thing, but experts say what they would be looking for could not be cleaned up in 21 days, and that is not a good reason to consider the agreement bad. Also, officially, the money was not part of the agreement. Cancelling the agreement didn't get our money back. So, now they have the money AND no reason not to start making weapons right this very minute. Sometimes even if you are on the wrong road, turning around isn't the best option.

They could start enriching Uraniam in 2031. Given that they gave up 98% of their Uraniam, if they start in 2031 they are still a couple years off. They also have limits on the equipment they are allowed to have, so they would have a lot to do to get started. I'm guessing the thought was a lot of diplomatic activity would take place in the 15 years the agreement was in place and a new deal would be in place by the end of this one. Trump pretty much took a shit on that option. **I was wrong about the money not being technically part of the deal, however, they have not and will not return it now. They will use it to stock up on uranium.

I believe I have said everything I know about Uranium - it exists, it is part of nuclear power and it was the crux of the Iran deal. Also, you need it if you want to time travel in a delorean by driving 88 MPH.

The USA should always get a better deal than anyone else. Why? Why not? The president of the USA is called the leader of the free world, no matter who that may be. So if that is the case the USA is the leader of the free world. Called "leader of the free world" by who, exactly? Does France consider him their leader? Italy? Germany? Canada? Norway? Switzerland? Leader of the free world, my ass! Trump is more like the "Malignant clown of the USA". Now THAT computes!

Just for fun. Any of the Trumpies here want to explain this one? www.democraticunderground.com/100212179533 (listen to 26 minutes into this "interview")
"Trump destroys Chinese economy - by 150% no less
President Donald Trump let fly a jaw-dropping lie in a chatty interview with CNBC Monday, saying that because of his get-tough trade war with China, the Asian nation’s economy has lost ″$15 to $20 trillion in value since the day I was elected.”
The Chinese economy is worth an estimated $13 trillion (it was $12.2 trillion in 2017, according to the World Bank). To wipe out 150% of China’s GDP would erase the country from the world economy and would be pretty ― incredible.
Contrary to Trump’s whopper, the Chinese economy has continued to expand over 6% a year since he was elected "

Regarding that, this week , the other day , in a group interview with Idahoans or where ever he was having a rally , it was expressed by a supporter that he is a known liar on most anything but for that voter, didn't matter, still gets his support. Now how do u discuss with that person....? Personally just shake your head and amble away shaking ones noggin ...

As an aside: "I meet and talk to 'foreign governments' every day," the president tweeted Thursday morning. So I wonder if this allows Prince Charles to command all the animals in the sea, like Aquaman, or just the mammals in the sea, or is he strictly only able to command the whales? Whichever it is, that'd an awesome gig.

ROTFLMAO!! Well, if the UK follows Canada's lead and outlaws whales in captivity, Charles will have to be thrown back into the ocean. Christ, what an idiot this "high IQ, stable genius is!"

You don’t know how or why I travelled. You know nothing yet you make assumptions. Fact is, I’ve lived abroad for a number of years. You change your stories, or just giving partial stories at times. I was merely pointing out the difference in travelers. What makes you think I was talking about you ? It really fits on this thread. People even lie to themselves. Everyone lies.I As an aside, do you think you received the same treatment as someone living there, vs a general perception of a large foreign country ? If you’d been here longer than a few months, you wo7ld know that I have NOT. “changed my story” one bit.
