People project. The man who says "everyone lies" is usually a man who lies a lot, himself. The man who says "everyone cheats" is usually a man who cheats a lot, himself. The man who says "everyone steals" is usually a man who steals a lot, himself. Psychology 101

You keep saying that like it is an epiphany or something. Most people are NOT pathological liars. The fact that people lie is hardly a sudden revelation. I never said anything about a pathological liar. Take note of reply #2 on this thread. I note that you're adding with your post, yet another condition for lying. Now why would there be a need for that ? Everyone lies. Everyone.

I don't know how much they lie. But they are definitely smarter than you think they are. There's no battlefield. Everyone lies. Everyone. What was that about Mr. last word, or leaving the battlefield to me ? Your reply #274 You're proving my point on lying. Not that it needs proving.

I note that you are being too cute, by a factor of about 5. You got me. It had to end sometime. Anyone who's known me for the last 20/30 years online, various forums, knows that I'm never really all that serious, about 'anything'.

Conservatives. I heard an interview with George Will on NPR this morning. Now there is an intellectual conservative that I enjoy listening to- even if I don't always agree with the man. Actually, I think he speaks better than he writes, at least as far as his editorials go. Sometimes in those he can get a little too clever. But hearing a conservative who spoke eruditely and yet plainly and perfectly sensibly, what a nice change! I understand that Trump used to be a liberal Democrat up to just recently. (It could explain some things that have been bothering people, and why he acts the way he does) Quote; Jan 12, 2019 · Trump was registered as a Democrat for more than eight years in the 2000s, according to New York City voter records made public during his campaign for president in 2016. Trump owned up to his years with the other party and told CNN he identified with Democrats during that time because they were more adept at handling the economy.www.thoughtco.com/was-donald-trump-a-democrat-3367571Seemed rather honest about it in the interview... I also assume I am wrong because he is so eloquent and I ain't. I used to loathe him. but now, seeing what the alternative looks like, I rather like him.

I used to loathe him. but now, seeing what the alternative looks like, I rather like him. I was maybe a bit understated. I often don't agree with him. But I have always viewed him as a straight shooter. To me that is admirable. And yes, he is quite at odds with today's Republican party, a fact he not only admits, but points out. He notes that neither party is called the Conservative Party. He most certainly is a conservative, in old Great Grandfather Obediah's mold. I didn't know that his father was a doctor of philosophy. That helps explain a few things about his thought process I think. I used to like the way conservatives insisted on curbing spending.
They're almost like the dodo now, extinct.
Or maybe they're just lurking, waiting for the current manifestation of their party to burn out and let the adults take control again.

My theory is that it became futile, so they had to go with the whole God's divinity angle. The Christian Right really picked up steam after Reagan spent us into oblivion. And now we can't stop.

again show me proof i mean real proof on the rape. Was he indicted? NO....was he arrested? NO....is he rich and people will say and do crazy shit to get paid off? Yes... as far as the bankruptcy very common to restructure i known several business men who done it. Not paying contractors for shoddy work done that my self and won in court. So maybe you the red red herring is fed to OPED.... The Trump haters should try removing their blinders OK I'm going to take on this one specifically because I know there is a lot of documentation on Trump's business practice of contracting for a certain price and then stiffing the contractor and refusing to pay. He tells the contractor they can sue if they want to, but he has a stable full of lawyers whose job is to drag out the lawsuit for years and years, so the contractor would be better off financially to just settle for a percentage of the contract. This has nothing to do with the qualify of work the contractors provided, that's just the excuse Trump uses. It's 100% a way to Trump to recoup money when he's overspent on one of his projects.
Here is one of the earliest examples of screwing over contractors - when he did his Trump tower project, he imported a bunch of undocumented Polish construction workers, and short paid them to the extent some of them had to live on the construction site because they couldn't afford to life anyplace else. At the end of the project they sued and he tried to get them deported back to Poland. Decades later, the construction workers finally won. So not only did Trump not have a problem short paying workers, he had no problem using illegal immigrants, too. www.nytimes.com/2017/11/27/nyregion/trump-tower-illegal-immigrant-workers-union-settlement.html
Here is an interview with the archetitct who got screwed out of a bunch of money when Trump built his Westchester golf course: www.forbes.com/sites/forbestreptalks/2016/07/13/this-architect-says-trump-almost-destroyed-his-business-but-that-doesnt-mean-they-cant-get-coffee/#6451a18045de
Notice especially this paragraph: Although I resent that he shorted me a huge amount of money, his organization does that to everybody. At the time I could see that the carpenters, the tile guy, the landscape consultant, the mechanical engineering consultant, other vendors and tradespeople were all subjected to an after-the-fact renegotiation challenge. I didn’t take it personally. And I believed Donald Trump when he showered me with compliments. Maybe that was his way of manipulating me into accepting less money. He was also nice and decent to me on an individual basis.
Another article from Forbes on why the US law makes it easy for people like Trump to stiff contractors: fortune.com/2016/09/30/donald-trump-stiff-contractors/ Here is why Forbes says this practice rarely happens:
First, most business people, despite what some people think, have integrity, a heart, and a conscience.
Second—and, okay, maybe this is the more important factor—most business people have ongoing relationships with their suppliers. So if you screw them, they’ll stop working with you. Moreover, word will get out, and other suppliers won’t work with you either.
As Forbes goes on to mention, if you're like Trump in that you build buildings all around the globe, it won't matter so much if you stiff carpet installers all around the globe - you probably won't ever need to use carpet installers in that area again, ever. And if you're the shitty kind of businessman who thinks his obligation to himself and his family to earn a profit trumps whatever legal document he signed with a vendor, then you'll stiff your contractors.
Seriously, Ed, all you have to do is google 'Trump Stiff Vendors' and you'll find a plethora of examples of Trump's MOA from a wide range of journalistic sources. Construction, furnishings, people who sell pianos, plus wait staff, housekeeping, pretty much everyone he deals with either accepts being underpaid or sues him for failure to comply with the contract. This are not all cases of the contractor failing to perform, there are far too many of them. Please do some research and see what you can find. Just please stop putting your fingers in your ears and ignoring the truth, at least on this one issue, and then think about whether Trump might be fudging the truth in some other areas, too.
Thanks Happy I did find the articles in the links interesting. A very cunning business tactic. I made a few calls to some friends, colleagues that have done business negotiations in my current field (automotive) and construction. Two of my automotive colleagues told me the their is a similar tactic used between supplier and customers in mid contract. My friend from NY said he knew about Trump's dealings and said it is a common issue with lots of developers but he said no one was more forceful than Trumps organization. He told me he knows a friend (he has a custom glass installation business) that was pulled into a renegotiation with Trump corp. He said it was a common practice since the mid 80's to add 15% beyond the final bid because all the developers would try to drive the costs down. I don't know how true any of this is all hear say. it still doesn't change my mind on his ability to lead the country. In fact i like the idea to pull other countries in and renegotiate any treaties with them. The USA should always get a better deal than anyone else.

In fact i like the idea to pull other countries in and renegotiate any treaties with them. The USA should always get a better deal than anyone else. Except he's not a good businessman - the fact that he's always having to screw over his vendors in order to make up money on his projects means he either really underestimates how much a project will cost, or he manages the project so badly he overspends.
At my company, we ran into a major hidden expense the last time we built a facility. About half a million over budget. Since we have a great project manager, he had padded his costs a bit, plus was able to eliminate some non essential stuff, and ended up coming in only about 50K over budget. I guarantee you, it did not even cross his mind to make back some of that expense by stiffing our vendors. Nor would it occur to about 95% of project managers out there, as the Forbes article I linked to pointed out - most people are too ethical, or want to avoid being sued, or want to be able to keep doing business with their vendors. Lucky for the country, most business managers are like that, and not like Trump.
I'm curious why you think an unethical businessman is a good POTUS candidate. If we habitually screw our friends and allies to make sure 'we always win' how many friends and allies will we have?
Guess what China would do if we announced we were short paying all the debt they're holding for us?
I prefer a POTUS who makes win-win trade deals, where everyone can walk away feeling good.

A total disaster it should have been nothing less than no nukes period and we get to keep all the money that we confiscated. A total loser of a deal.

Sorry Ed but your cult leader is pure ripoff/thief/swindler/con man. For those that don’t rinse their eyes with kool-aid it’s completely obvious. There have been THOUSANDS of suits brought against by those he has screwed over. My personal favorite is the $23 MILLION settlement he made over the scam that was Trump University. Anyone else would have been charged with fraud.

Ed...on another note you are completely wrong that the six nation treaty, which you mistakenly attribute solely to Obama, is a complete disaster. You don’t possess the political acumen to even know that it was operating successfully and Trump has shown he is not up to bring any kind of leader of the free world.
In your belligerent short sidedness you fail to realize that being diplomatic with Iran is vastly superior to the hegedemonic aspirations of Bolton, Trump and Pompeo.
Do you and Kris have any sons between 14 and 22?

Regarding $ returned to Iran...as I understand it...thats $ they, Iran, paid us when Sha was still in power for weapons. jets I believe, but t6hey were never delivered because he was over thrown, the new regime occupied our embassy and took hostages..yadda, yadda....and Iran sued in international courts and all knew we were going to lose that case...and that case was close to being decided...thus the return of $ plus interest. I guess we participate in that international court..[we also sue and such] ..now u may disagree with the return of the $ but it was a Presidential decision...and with all such decisions , there are always disagreements... As far as the nuclear treaty with them, if I remember correctly, we and our allies[Israel, European countries] were very concerned with Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon and was close to getting such a weapon...that treaty stopped their acquiring, got rid of most of the center fuses and refined nuclear material....and all inspections show they have not cheated on the treaty arrangements. Nothing in that treaty said anything about Iran stopping other disruptive doings that we and Trump are not happy with... It seems to me u are in favor of our useing military force against Iran. Have to ask if u have ever gone to war...have any clue besides say watching John Wane flicks or reruns of "Saving Private Ryan"...Iran is a country of 80 million people...they will defend themselves and so far, I don't know of attacks from them, besides the rhetoric way, against us .

I'm sure dondub or someone will explain it better than me, but the States is vastly invested in promoting that "leader of the free world" idea and your treaties are designed to do that. A lot of treaties are designed to promote Capitalism and Democracy and lure many countries away from Socialism and Communism. Because you won't survive if you have to go to war to maintain it.

That doesn't make sense. What does being the leader of the free world have to do with screwing our friends and allies out of good trade deals? Thats just it we have very few good trade deals. Friends and allies are only their because we let them screw us. Perfect example the whole Iran nuclear deal that Obama did. A total disaster it should have been nothing less than no nukes period and we get to keep all the money that we confiscated. A total loser of a deal. by what measure was it a total disaster?

My theory is that it became futile, so they had to go with the whole God's divinity angle. The Christian Right really picked up steam after Reagan spent us into oblivion. And now we can't stop. Reagan picked up where Nixon left off. Nixon's "Southern strategy" of course courted all of the Democratic bigots in the south and elsewhere who were coldcocked by the then new Democratic support of civil rights. (LBJ knew that support of the Civil Rights Act would cost the Dems the south. And ironically, the CRA was opposed by a lot of southern Democrats, while supported by a lot of northern GOP representatives) Reagan courted the religious right and also abandoned fiscal responsibility. Trump has crowned the whole teeming mess with his demagoguery and populist rhetoric. And there you have it. A basket of deplorables. That's not to say that there are not a lot of traditional conservatives and old fashioned GOP voters/ people. There are. But the deplorables have largely pushed them to the sideline, at least for now. Which is a shame for our Republic, frankly. I wonder how many good, qualified conservatives have decided not to run in the last decade or so, when it started to become the party it is today? Conservatives unwilling to curry favor with misogynists and racists, and unwilling to wear their religious beliefs on their sleeves (or who don't think religion and politics should mix at all) and who figure they can't win unless they behave that way, in the current GOP.
I know there have been a fair number of GOPers who just called it quits and didn't run for re-election, like Corker, in TN. IMHO that was a loss for TN.

Why not? The president of the USA is called the leader of the free world, no matter who that may be. So if that is the case the USA is the leader of the free world. LMAO Don't you realise that only you Americans say that? You never hear anyone else say it. LMAO you also never hear them say it about themselves and why they know the POTUS is the leader of the free wold. "the most powerful man in the world'
