NOTE: if you dig down into the poll, Trump has 83% approval among GOP voters in NC.

found this little blurb on Bishop. interesting.
Catawba College professor Michael Bitzer is projecting voter turnout of 10% to 15%. He analyzed early voters and found their average age was 64, almost 20 years higher than the district's average for registered unaffiliated and Republican voters.
State Sen. Dan Bishop, who in 2016 sponsored the so-called "bathroom bill," raised the most in campaign contributions, seeded with $250,000 from the Charlotte attorney's own bank account.
ok. so this is the Bathroom Bill guy. and he is super popular with seniors, as you can see. as is Trump.
he is going to have a tough time, imo. I might be wrong, tho. I don't know this district well. it was pretty competitive last year.
Bishop might win outright. if he doesn't win outright, he will probably win the runoff.
edit: I don't believe any new polls are out. the last two show Bishop with 31% and 36%, enough to prevent a runoff.

here is a tweet from Bishop: They’re socialists. Gun grabbers. Supporting infanticide and open borders. Dan McCready’s friends in Washington have gone plain crazy. He’s the wrong Dan in this election.seems like a nice guy.

What, was he auditioning for the role of Boss Hogg?
Or is all that white supposed to subliminarily make you think of pointed white hoods?
(Pretty sure subliminarily is not a real word, but according to Mr Happy, if you understand what I mean when I say it, it's a real word).
Either way, he looks like a premium, mega sized douche.

he looks like the illegitimate offspring of Rush Limbaugh. intentionally, I presume.
note: you nailed the Boss Hogg reference. that is precisely what he is displaying, by his own admission.
he is in 2nd place with 14-18% of the vote.

Wonder why I question polls? I would certainly question a GOP pollster who thinks AOC would match up well against Trump.

How did the mid term thread veer off into a discussion of AOC?
Is it not possible to have a political discussion without having AOC waved around like a scarecrow?

Because she is vewy scarwy And pretty hot, and many Republican men are repressed sexually from a fucked up Christian upbringing, so they get all weird when a hot girl brings them conflicting feeling between their pants and their brains.

Wonder why I question polls? You question polls because of what one person who conducts polls thinks about something?

After this horrific time in our history passes, if I never hear the stupid words "Political Witch Hunt" again, it is fine by me.

no updates, here, but there are only 2 weeks left in this campaign. it is still close, but the GOP probably has the edge. note: if campaign spending wins, the Democrats have this. Trump is supposed to go do a stump speech for the GOP candidate.
I'm curious to see if that helps or hurts him.
NC appears to be a very GOP state, due to the gerrymandering, but it's more purple, 50/50.

... Trump will travel to the district on Sept. 9, the night before the special election, ... link from that article (thanks, bills):
Yet it also underscores concern about early-vote totals, which show the GOP falling behind. Through Monday, 54 percent of early votes in the district had been cast by Democratic voters, compared to 41 percent by Republicans. At the same point before the 2018 election, Republicans had a 46 percent to 42 percent lead over Democrats.
Republicans repeatedly mentioned McCready’s head start in conversations with POLITICO, appearing to lower expectations should Bishop fail to catch up.
that is a 17% swing. impressive.

McCready is polling 4 points ahead with an MOE of 4.2% in this race. I am now rating NC9 a tossup. NOTE: I figured the GOP would probably win this. but the early polling is leading me to conclude that this race is much closer than I would have earlier predicted in a district that Trump won by 12%. there are lots of indications that McCready MIGHT win, but we will see.....

there is another new poll that came out that shows Harris +1%. the average of the (5) polls to date has them within 0.2%. the likely voters polls seem to favor McCready slightly, whereas the RV polls favor Harris. I don't have any new updates on the early voting counts. election closes in one week.
