I don't care why you do it. No, it's the march of an extremist rightwing Christian with God on his side trying to save America from the scourge brought on by the mental illness that is liberalism, Clintonism, Obamaism. the last chance of the righteous before we sink into a morass of immorality, destruction, bankruptcy, chaos and civil war. Amusing juxtaposition.

I don't know why I do anything.
Mostly, I just do what my cats tell me to do.
Except the Maine Coon, who is psychotic.

I mostly listen to the Siamese, who stands inside the litter box, hangs her butt over the side and poops on the floor, and then spends five minutes trying to cover up her mess with imaginary litter. Yes, dumb as a box of rocks, but she's not smart enough to plot to kill me, I figure.

i have said why dozens of times, but i will do so again: posting helps me understand how others think. but i have to ask a lot of questions to figure that out. and that probably feels like "interrogation".
why do i care what you think?
if we understand each other, then mutual respect and better communication will flow from that. that is the goal for me. that is the "win". so, i am not here to score points. i am not here to feel smart, or to prove i am better than you, or to "educate you". i am here to learn.

get a bigger litter box or she doesn't want to dirty her box?

I have a siamese like that, only she misses while peeing, not pooping. A covered litter box helps considerably. ETA: our other siamese is more likely to plot a way to kill us. Inccredibly intelligent. We have watched her figure out a variety of ways to antagonize all of the other pets when she gets bored. She is one of those that will stand on the bed with her face inches from yours in the middle of the night. Creepy.

this is implies that his posts are a response to the hecklers. but i think the opposite is true. OldCoyote 's post was rather unseemly. Paul stated his motivation and like so many others, the response tries to inject his own opinion as fact regarding Paul's motivation. Typical P/CE behavior. But regarding the implication, I don't read it the same way you do, at all. To me, OldCoyote seems to imply that Paul's posts are meant to elicit responses which cause those responding to embarrass themselves. YMMV.

So your reason to post this is to prove that people can be persuaded?
Hmm, ok than. This was an elegantly dismissive reply. Using 'than' rather than 'then' weakens it somewhat, but it still has far greater effect than the vulgar replies. I think I'll throw a like on it.

does yours have a fetish for feet? No, mine has a fetish for wet hair, especially hot sweaty hair that's been under my sun hat while I was outside gardening in the inferno we blandly refer to around here as 'summer.'
She gets on the couch behind me, wraps a paw around either side of my head, sticks her nose into the most sweaty, stinky part and huffs like an addict sniffing glue. I feel like I'm somehow being harassed.
At least she's not as bad as the beagle, who liked to treasure hunt in the litter box.

get a bigger litter box or she doesn't want to dirty her box? Size of the box doesn't matter. I think she likes to try to hit a corner, but often miscalculates.
Math is not her friend.

I know what you mean.
I have some very conservative Trump supporters in my family that I love very dearly. I would love to be able to discuss their political beliefs with them, but don't want any hard feelings if we disagree. I can come here and read what other people (probably very similar to my relatives) think and get a better understanding of where they're coming from.

I don't think Rush is effective. Well, he's effective but not at swaying someone's opinion. To do that one needs to begin with a far less confrontation approach and deal with issues themselves rather than demonizing individuals just because they're on the other side of those issues. What effectiveness Rush has, is in energizing those who are already of the same mindset. But his tactics preclude open discussion rather than encouraging it. He's an interesting entertainer for a short while, but it gets old fast.

My $0.02: The more heated a debate, the more critical it is to abstain from sarcasm, summary dismissals and (most importantly) profanity and charged/contemptuous language such as "bullshit", "bigotry", "hatred", "worthless", "brainwashed", "propaganda", "debunk", etc. unless your purpose is to confront, provoke, or escalate. The simple reason being that use of any of these devices implicitly, inexorably declares the writer to be "here to score points, [...] to feel smart, to prove [(s)he's] better than [others], or to educate [others]" as opposed to being a passive learner. Hence if you want to be perceived as a passive learner rather than an interrogator, critic, bully, polemicist, etc., avoid all these things. If you don't, and you're accused of being hostile, it's your own fault. A few examples of non-equivalence, for reference: Hostile, provocateur: "Why should we f-ing care?"
Passive, learner: "I don't understand why we should care. [Brief explanation.]"
Hostile, provocateur: "And yet they still love their brilliant POtuS. Can anyone figure out why?" Passive, learner: "And yet their support for Pres. Trump endures. I'd like to hear from one as to the justification." Hostile, provocateur: "I don't have time to read your BS sources." Passive, learner: (says nothing) Hostile, provocateur: "This s-t has been so thoroughly debunked." Passive, learner: (says nothing) [or] "This article [citation] refutes X and Y, and I see no fault in their logic. [Explanation, given in academic language.]" One final note: if members are mocking and/or pig piling on a particular poster, whether the poster deserves it or not, don't jump in with 'hear hear's, amens, attaboys, or comments contrasting good with bad. If you do, you've instantly gone from passive learner to point-scorer and your behaviour will not soon be forgotten.

There is even some of this:
pontificate. verb (pɒnˈtɪfɪˌkeɪt) (intr) to speak or behave in a pompous or dogmatic mannerAlso (less commonly): pontify (ˈpɒntɪˌfaɪ) to serve or officiate as a pontiff, esp in celebrating a Pontifical Mass noun (pɒnˈtɪfɪkɪt)

It would be a much more interesting show, I think, if he allowed people with opposing views to have a debate with him, rather than listen to him pontificate.

I also like to learn what the other side is thinking. I like to come here for insights into the mind of the left. I'm happy to say that aside from raising taxes, defending MS13, siding with Hamas and Iran over Israel, and blind hatred of Trump- the left is otherwise bereft of ideas. That's good for us. It means that the trend that began in 1994, and accelerated in 2010 and 2014, of total Republican / conservative dominance is on track to continue.

You forgot hating the military, supporting terrorist activist organizations, despoiling America with pro LGBTQ policies, limiting religious freedoms, disrespecting the flag etc.

I'm just going to tag on to your thread (since you offered to let people do so)... I do it for the days when I get 22 "Likes"... like today. "Likes" are important to you? Are you so insecure that your opinions don't mean much unless they get high approval ratings? I can't even see how many likes I've received. They don't matter.
