Before any of you respond, let me clarify what I am NOT saying: I am NOT saying I'm anywhere near as effective as Rush. I wish I was, but I don't care for the notoriety so I stick to copywriting for activists, political campaigns, and ghost-writing for bloggers and others in the conservative movement. But in a nutshell- I do it because I believe it's possible to wake people up. Susan Rice, who famously lied repeatedly on all the Sunday talk shows about a YouTube video being the impetus for a "spontaneous protest" which was, in reality, an Al Qaeda planned attack on the anniversary of 9/11 on our embassy in Benghazi, Lybia, has a son that's a conservative talk-radio listener and head of the College Republicans on campus at her alma mater. www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2018/05/29/susan-rices-son-is-a-dittohead/People can be persuaded. Never doubt it. Millions of Obama voters voted for Trump. The son of Susan Rice is a Dittohead.

So your reason to post this is to prove that people can be persuaded?
Hmm, ok than.

Before any of you respond, let me clarify what I am NOT saying: I am NOT saying I'm anywhere near as educated as professional political scientists. I wish I was, but I don't care for the notoriety so I stick to posting on this backwater message board.
But in a nutshell- I do it because I believe it's possible to educate people.
I think that each person should start a thread on the Politics Board entitled "Why Do I Do It?" because it is all about each of you.

I'm guessing the pursuit of endless praise is not why you started this thread , but I wanted to say that I appreciate your posts very much. You have a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of federal election law (among other areas) and your posts are always credible, factual, and free from rancor.

Getting praise is an interesting idea of why a person might post here. Frequently I have an old Rolling Stones song line come to mind; I posted on YMAM Politics, To get my fair share of abuse when I read some postings that seem to openly invite ridicule.

No, it's the march of an extremist rightwing Christian with God on his side trying to save America from the scourge brought on by the mental illness that is liberalism, Clintonism, Obamaism. the last chance of the righteous before we sink into a morass of immorality, destruction, bankruptcy, chaos and civil war.

I like Bill's idea, but I am not so sure about many threads with the same name. Feel free to post here as well about your reasons or start another thread if that's your preference.
Caveats/Background- I am not one of the most politically knowledgeable posters here but thankfully I am also not the least knowledgeable. I don't have the history or love of the subject that some do, but I think its important so that's one of the reasons I post and read here.
I hope that part of my contribution is giving scope and reminders on various topics.

I'm just going to tag on to your thread (since you offered to let people do so)...
I do it for the days when I get 22 "Likes"... like today.

Oh, it wasn't my idea. AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP is the one who first decided that starting a thread on the Politics board about him and why he posts there was necessary. I just thought, "What the hell, I want a thread about me and why I post here." I am glad you started a thread about you and why you post here. I think each person is important and should have their own thread about them and why they post here. I would think AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP feels the same way about this and that only some having their very own thread isn't appropriate.

I read it because I do actually like to "hear" what other people think about politics. I give honest effort to being open-minded.
Sometimes I comment because I actually have time and something to add.

I'm not real knowledgeable in subject. I do know what I feel is good for the whole country & what is fair, at least in my opinion.
But I like to bring articles to the board that others might not see with their busy schedules or family obligations. I like to both learn & help educate where I can. And I like most of the posters here even if I don't always agree with each of them. "Likes" don't matter to me, in fact I never look until I get close to 100 of them & then I only look so my number up there disappears. But I did finally start putting "likes" on other people's comments....didn't do that either for a long time either.

I do it for the hope of intelligence still existing when people like something that is reasonable and factual. The more that like those kinds of things, the more hope I have that we can stave off the impending arrival of Idiocracy.

If I log-in, I tend to start posting. If I start posting, I'm distracted from what I should be doing. For example, right now, I should be grading assignments. Anyhoo, I enjoy reading the Politics and Current Events sub-boards for the discussions, but I don't post often. I am of the opinion that I am fairly intelligent.

Me too. Although I don't usually have a lot to add. But I enjoy learning. I don't read much if it's just arguing though. And I go cross-eyed when people go on and on with too much info, esp if they repeat themselves.

For the record, That wasn't in any way meant to suggest that people that couldn't or don't click "Like" (because of not being signed in or whatever other reason) weren't intelligent. It was only and specifically a comment on those that do click it, and the hope that they bring with their clicks.
